    Forgot to add very smart on knee protection! Will go without rib protection than sore knees ! As a track marshal thanks for tire help 😁🏁. Still remember every red flag. If you check Flying Go Kart Overtake . Was actually at end of fence for the landing . Have flown myself and felt it for 6 months. For the driver her and dad drove from Nova Scotia to Toronto. She got checked out and back for more the next day . Took a year to see her shook her hand and welcomed her to the club 😁 Could spend hours boring you by talking karting ! I love our sport ♥️🏁

      [Dad] Yes, it was a wake up for us both. If you don't like seeing her upset, don't watch Ep 14 - although we were able to turn it right around for one of our best memories the following week. That's racing - frustration and euphoria!

    Good job dad and kudos to your girl she really stuck with it after that scary ride with the sticky throttle. Racing will teach the little ones perserverence and overcoming their fears. You did a great job comforting her and getting her back out there 👍. As I past kart racer here in the USA I can tell you from chasing Sarah Fisher many times before she went on to great things in the IRL... Keep your ballast weight bolted as low in chassis as possible. Bolting it up unnecessarily high on the seat creates a pendulum effect which will unweight the inside tires. I machined special brackets that would clamped directly to the chassis tube and allow me to stack those weights right on the chassis tubing

      [Dad] thank you. I wasn’t sure how she’d react to big hits like that early on, but she’s a trooper - and more than a little addicted to the speed. Racing offers so many life lessons - it’s what makes all the hard work and effort worthwhile. Thanks for the tip on the ballast, we will try that. At this age, it’s such a huge factor

      @@Zoe_703 for sure, whatever you said to her or however you reassured her it must have been very very right... I don't think you could have done a better job whatever you said!
      I'm an old guy now 61 but in the mid 1990s I raced against an up-and-coming girl named Sarah Fisher who later went on to the IRL. Her dad actually is a pretty famous guy as well... Dave Fisher would build my particular methanol 5 horse Briggs... But he always kept a few secrets back for Sarah lol. One particular race I remember driving against her was a big race locally called the Commercial Point Grand Prix in which they would block off the whole town and line the streets with three high hay bales and you would race in front of the local townspeople. It was a big deal if you were from that part of the country. I spent the whole day chasing her in several heats and the feature... why I couldn't get around this tiny little girl. She couldn't have weighed ninety pounds soaking wet. Later her dad laughed and spilled the beans that there was no way an adult could beat her even though she was driving a 1978 margay chassis... She had tens of pounds of lead weigh bolted directly down low to the frame rails and it was like she was glued to the corners!!!😅

      @@bobbaemel4110 [dad] thank you. She’s hard to hold back TBH. Just bounced right back.
      I’ll have a look for some highlights of Sarah - she sounds incredible. Don’t do I at at all there were some trucks held back for her. Will try to adjust the weights as you suggest and see if that helps. Thanks for the tips!

    Cool ! Reminds me of my young friend who was that age back in 2010 . She is good as your kid will be ! I definitely know the pain of all that extra weight ! At 135 pounds I should easily be a Briggs Masters champ 😁🏁 Enjoy the upcoming season !

      @@Zoe_703 Unfortunately no . Have not even found video from someone in her group . Her 1st rental win is out there ! But that was from 2011. One of best races I got to see as a track marshal !! Top 3 all over eachother and it came down to last turn of last lap 😁🏁 My last Briggs engine was one of her older ones !

    This cadet kart seems like a pretty large step up in performance from the kid kart she started with .... what was involved in your decision to move up? My son will be starting in kid kart (with a LO206) next spring at 5 years old and I am excited and nervous for him to be racing! Worried because even the kid kart will be so much faster than other things he has driven so far.

      Dad here again: Really good question, and there are a number of factors. Age is a key determinant (KK only goes up to 7 or 8 depending on the track). The other is the track rules: Zoe's friend Sara, who you will see in many videos, kept running the KK right up till that age because her home track didn't have Cadet KK classes. But at Sandyhook, a lot of kids run them, and you really can't be competitive in the Comer KK, except against other Comer KKs. There are a range of philosophies on how to go about it, and I am not sure anything are actually better than the others. I had been encouraged by other dads to move her up quickly as the lines and techniques needed in KK are very different to Cadet and I wanted to give her a chance to get competitive at that level. But the weight of the lead needed to get to minimum is a real issue, so after this race we moved back down to KK for 12 months. Doing so gave her more opportunity to develop wheel-to-wheel racing skills, because there were more kids at a similar speed. Even so, we moved up again earlier than some of her friends because she insisted on it, and was getting close to the age limit. As for your concerns about speed - they're very valid. But kids will surprise you with how they adapt, and you just keep upping the ante slowly and methodically. If you watch Zoe's earlier videos, you will see how this happened step by step. Happy to chat more and provide more insight from our experiences if they would be helpful, either via email or via our instagram page @croweatermotorsport

    What pedals are those ?????? I just bought that exact chassis

    • @CrowEaterMotorSport
      @CrowEaterMotorSport Місяць тому

      (Dad): These are the PKT ones. They are good, but Zoe found them a little unstable. We've since mostly used pedal extenders on her next comport, but I'm not a big fan of them - they're cheap, but not super reliable. We now have a set of metal bolt on ones (Righetti maybe?), which are pricy, but much more stable. I am about to take them off her kart because she's outgrown them and swap them onto her old Compkart which will be set up for Kid Kart for her brother. We kept this chassis as a back up for several years, but no longer have it.

    • @Zoe_703
      @Zoe_703  11 місяців тому

      Kids can start racing Cadet at 7 or 8 yrs old, depending on the track rules. Some of the larger series are starting to split the 8-10 yr olds out from the 11-13 year olds, but at club races the age spread can be significant

      Each to their own. These kids start at very slow speeds in very safe environments (almost as slow as power wheels - have a look at her 5 y/o brothers races on my channel), and develop at their own pace. Everyone is very careful about progressing them at a pace they are able to manage, and you'd be amazed at what they are capable of when you trust them. Right now, any of these 8-9 yr olds would kick my (dad)'s ass on the track. Zoe wiped the floor with me last time I tried taking her on. They're incredibly mature and capable, or they don't last long.

      @@melvinhunt6976 There are a lot of, IMO, irresponsible examples of irresponsible parenting happening out there on UA-cam. As a rule, I don't comment on or pass judgement on others parenting decisions. For me, we (my wife and I) know the risks and are comfortable with our decisions. That said, I won't let her race bikes like she wants to. I have two (adult) friends who have broken their backs riding bicycles to work. I broke my shoulder falling off an electric scooter earlier this year. There are lots of risks out there, but IMO this is safer than some alternatives - horse riding, cheerleading. In fact, I will never let her take part in cheerleading because of the statistical rates of injury. We've seen a few big crashes in karting so far, and am yet to see a serious injury to the kids involved because of the safety equipment. Again, each to their own.
