the ghibli american dubs are always beautifully cast, you can tell the actors truly care about their perfomances living up to those of the original japanese actors
It's always important to make sure that the English version is complimentary of the original Japanese. Otherwise you end up with a dub that is inadequate.
@@Father_of_Death I agree completely, and yet it's so rare that the foreign dub matches up with the japanese original ! we're so lucky the studio ghibli ones exist
Actually, there are *two* American dubs: a rare one from Streamline (featuring the late Lisa Michelson as Kiki, Eddie Frierson as Tombo, Kerrigan Matthews as Jiji, and Alexandra Kenworthy as Osono, for just a few), and the Disney one (featuring *this* cast).
from 1998, Kirsten was like 16 or Something, this was Phil Hartman's Last Voice acting Career. WOW! and Matthew Lawrence was in 12th Grade. Janeane was a Great Ursula (the Woman who lived in a Cabin). My favorite part of Kiki's Delivery Service was when Ursula told Kiki "Let's turn out the Lights and go to Sleep!"
This one movie made me change my mind on English dubs. I know most prefer original audio in general, but the whole cast did a fantastic job and I much prefer the English version. And Sydney Forest’s tracks are gems!

The dub for the American market(not the dub for other english markets) has way to much dialogue..its like they where allergic to silent gaps longer than 2sec. To much piontless talking.
Kirsten Dunst was perfect as Kiki.
She sounds so peppy, energetic and spirited, and fairly cutesy and does a good job with the emotion.
Agreed.
@@donniehuynh2391 Same here

Phil Hartman did a great job as jiji and an incredible voice actor rip
And the "RIP" part was entirely his wife's fault!
Jiji in the dub is the main reason I'd watch the dub over the sub. The main reason to watch the sub over the dub is for the music imo.
R.I.P. Phil Hartman (1948-1998).

man these hollywood actors really bring their A game when it comes to ghibli movies
First time I heard the cat without knowing the voice actor I actually thought it was Billy Crystal. 😅
I really loved him as Calcifer. ❤❤
Kirsten dunst is such a gem
I love this version of kikis delivery service the most, everyones voice is great and the music is better than the other versions

Really sad what happened to Phil Hartman. True legend and icon of the 90s, him, Bernie Mac, and Robin Williams
Rip Phil Hartman 1948-1998 💔😢
Remember watching the trailer as a kid in the 90s then getting the VHS. Such a peaceful movie
Omg I want more of these interviews
Ohhh yeah Kristen Dunst as Kiki and Mary Jane Amazing Job keep it up 👍
Both Arrietty from being Tom Holland to becoming Spider Man
The spirit of Mickey brought me here I never actually watch this movie all those years when I was a kid until 2017 on my cell phone on UA-cam
Robin William will be proud.
Well if it isn't "the girl next door." This way before she played Peter Parker's woman.

Wow from Japanese anime movie Kiki”s delivery service to Mary Jane Watson in the Sami Rami trilogy
I actually prefer watching western inspired ghibli movies in English. It just feels right.
