  • The 6 Abhiññā are categories of “higher knowledge”, but are essentially psychic powers; except the last, āsavakkhaya. I give a brief overview of them in this video.

    Why didn't Kishimoto use these as the six powers of the Rinnegan, since he was being influenced by buddhism anyway. Very cool video!

      I guess shinra tensei, summoning sundry mega beasts, and reviving the dead were too epic to pass up

      Ah yes i didn't explain it too clearly-
      Apparently I was going to make a more detailed video on it.
      That one means the achievement of enlightenment; the Buddha often phrases achieving Nirvana as "the ending of the effluents (asavas)". Basically these are 3 or 4 factors that "flow out" of , are a consequence of, a dualistic mind. one that still identifies as a person rather than knowing it is the Deathless / Unfabricated dimension.
      They are: the effluents of views (belief in / clinging to concepts), ignorance (of one's buddha-nature), becoming (desire for continued future identities) and sensuality (attachment to delight gained thru sensory events)
      When you reach Nirvana , the level of Arahant, all of these outflows cease, though they may still appear to be functioning to outside observers.

    A surprising and interesting source for valid and authentic information. I did judge a book by the cover, but I was mistaken. He is giving true information and is easy to listen to. i expected another know-nothing profiteer like Brad Warner.

  • @kantpiya

    I will be the one to confirm that these are true. These powers lie within ourselves and can be unlocked through meditation. In simple terms, when your mind or soul realizes that our body is not truly ours, it loses its attachment, allowing us to venture beyond or perceive many things. However, meditation is not the heart of Buddhism; rather, it is the method to gain wisdom. The real challenge is how to free our soul from reincarnation into a realm without time and space by using your wisdom. Do not believe me until you prove it, as Buddha Siddhartha said.

    How can someone decide whether someone has these powers or is paranoid schizophrenic? No way at all? My brother claims these powers but is certified insane

    • @PaulClermont
      @PaulClermont  7 місяців тому

      @@petergleeson295 I mean, he could be both insane and have powers of some kind. That's a possibility. But if he never demonstrates them in some kind of evidential way, then it doesn't really matter if he claims it. I'm sure you could devise some clever tests though if you're truly curious.
      But even if he does truly have some, he's still gotta overcome his mental illness to make use of any of his talents.
      Besides all that, based on my extensive mystical experience, I would suggest praying for him daily to become clear & protected of any dark influences that might be exacerbating his condition. Negative forces on higher planes have the capability to significantly enhance our weak points

    So I always wanted to learn “instant transmission” like Goku from dragonball.
    Now it seems I wasn’t that weird after all😂🤔
    Should I go after it again? I don’t have anything to lose, don’t mind if it doesn’t happen 😅
    Travelling instantly with body and all, to see friends and loved ones while all your work is done, sounds great.
    Instantaneous travelling
    Cost free
    No sweat

    • @PaulClermont
      @PaulClermont  Рік тому +1

      Yea man go for it! that was one of Buddha's highlighted powers, he would instantly-transmit to a Brahma world, or to a disciple’s side the second they had some troublesome thought, and be like “hmm, let's talk about that”. 😅
      So if you train in the buddhist path of samadhi you may someday achieve...Instant Transmission. 👌

    I know a Buddhist who teaches the psychic powers are not the real teachings of Buddha so it's kind of hard for me because I've had my experiences out of this external world to kind of like all right man that's all there is so basically based on reality and third dimensional

    • @PaulClermont
      @PaulClermont  Місяць тому +1

      @@5000NATE What the Buddhist probably means is the fact that gaining powers is not the focus of Buddhism, Hinduism, or any path to enlightenment
      It is a sideshow you can actively develop at your leisure, or for the sake of greater service, or as a motivation for training.
      Buddha mentions these things because they will come up inevitably in the course of advanced training, and it is good to be aware of them.
      And like I said they can operate as a motivation for those who lack motivation from other means, and they can be useful tools to develop for those who are accomplished

    I want to quibble a bit because we are all here to learn right? You forgot "mind-made body" which is something i am investigating and why i clicked. Maybe do a full show on that one?
    When you said "everything is an illusion" i feel you have slipped into the easy conceptual position of nihilism. Remember on this physical plane. unlike in dreams, we are dealing with group karma (that created the world and realm)of other beings that exist as much as we do.

    • @enstigatorofficial
      @enstigatorofficial 7 місяців тому

      You seem to me to want to slip into the "mind-only" trap whicht was discredited in a Buddhist council. In dreams it truly is "mind-only" for the most part, so experiment with that, it will help in the bardos.

    • @PaulClermont
      @PaulClermont  7 місяців тому

      The sutta i sourced for this video only described 6 abhiñña. Wouldn't a power like "mind-made body" simply fall under iddhi-vidha? Or is there literature that gives more specific categories. Wouldn't mind expanding on the siddhis again with more detail 🙏

    • @PaulClermont
      @PaulClermont  7 місяців тому

      If i ever say "everything is an illusion", i mean it from a balanced vantage point. In other words, although mind-only is the ultimate truth, the laws of cause and effect and our actions in the relative/conceptual world still matter. It would indeed be delusion to ignore that and cling to absoluteness
