Hi, I am administering my partners Tinzaparin (blood thinner) for him. We were recently instructed to start rotating his injection sites, I am only familiar with doing his stomach/abdomen area. Do I need to go at a 45° angle in the back of the arm and in the leg? And should the needle enter the back of the arm in an upward motion or downward motion? Also, should I press down in it after with a gauze or cotton ball to avoid bruising? Thank you for any additional tips, I don't want him to miss any doses and I just want to make sure I am doing it properly.
Thnk q,I am new subscriber i want 2 ask 1 question my target is in subcutaneous area but injecting in another part skin or muscle area what would be happen, thnk q once again and i am waiting 4 ur reply
I have been looking for a video like this for a while. This is the most detailed one I have found. Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Glad you found this helpful!
I love how clearly you explained this!
Excellent demo as always…
Always label the syringe with the medication and amount if preparation happens away from pts room
Feeling so thankful for this video! 🥰 Also how do you know whether to go at 45 or a 90 degree angle when giving a subcut injection?
Hi Chiara, you decide by the amount of underlying subcutaneous tissue. For limited subcutaneous tissue, insert at 45 degree angle.
@@NurseErica That is very helpful to know I've also been confused and nervous about which one to do! Thank you!
This helped allot I have to take lovenox 2x a day till I give birth due to pulmonary embolism it has been hard to mentally prepare and actually do it

If I need to administer a based oil substance, will be enough with a 27 gauge in the quad (lean patient), or a 25 gauge is needed?
bless you
what was the purpose for injecting the air into the vial?
Would it ever be apprpriate to inject a subq with 23g 1in in a patient with more fat? .5 seems very short for such a subject
Thank you!

It will affect the rate of absorption. It is also considered a medication error.

so with insulin you can draw up and inject with the same needle. which meds do you have to change the needle to inject?
Medications that can irritate surrounding tissue. For example heparin, iron.

Hello Nurse Erica, please can I be your student.
Mostly good, but get hair out of the way and don't touch it in between steps.
Thank you!
