Yes, there can be not doubt that Charlie Parker would have loved this. He was renowned for his appetite for all sorts of music, and for his artistic tolerance. Parker biographies are abundant with stories about how he would stop in a NY street to listen to a Salvation Army brass band for a full hour, while it was snowing heavily. When at one time his trumpet player Red Rodney spotted Igor Stravinsky in the audience, as he and Parker was entering the stage,, Parker opened with "Ko-Ko" in a frantic tempo -- quoting 32 bars from Stravinsky's "Fire Bird" in the middle of his own solo. Ms Michala Petri covers Parker's beautiful composition and solo with a wonderful sense of HUMOR. (Alas, the latter seems wasted on some listerners.)
I don't care whose solo it is. Michala is playing it here. And to think that she makes this song sound good on an instrument that is often considered little more than a toy by many people just makes this all the more amazing. Charlie Parker himself played recorder at one point in his development. Michala does Charlie Parker justice here and it's good to see a classical musician let her hair down and do something like this instead of sticking to the strict note for note restrictions of her genre.
This woman can really smoke. Greatest jazz improvisational recorder performance I've ever heard. If Charlie Parker were here he'd give her a big hug I bet.
The men in the band did a good job, but for me, there's no taking my ears of Michala Petri's sopranino recorder. That just goes to show that she can play just about any genre of music that's out there.

Greatest recorder player I've ever heard, hands down. Listening to her is definitely inspiring to me who is just starting out on the recorder.

She is reading every note...of Charlie Parker's genius improvised solo...neverthe less, good job!
The reason that this "soprano" recorder sounds like a piccolo is that the instrument is a sopranino recorder.
Nobody plays the recorder better than Michala Petry. Nobody!
IMO this guy does: ua-cam.com/video/wmj-g4OQYG0/v-deo.html
