OLD and NEW Fire Engine 4131 Volunteer Fire Department Stellendam! (The Netherlands)

The Stellendam fire brigade is a voluntary fire brigade on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee and has just one vehicle. A Fire Engine (Tankautospuit) which is also used for the specialism of water surface rescue, this WOR team goes out for people or animals in water that are in distress. These teams can quickly enter the water and rescue people from the surface water, for when someone is too far underwater, a diving team is always on the way. The Stellendam Firecorps has a catchment area that includes the Deltahaven where the fish auction is located, major through roads and lots of water and meadows. The corps has dozens of turnouts on an annual basis.
The current Fire Engine of the Stellendam Fire Brigade, a Volvo FL6 from 1999, is now in need of replacement. The vehicle, the 17-4131, started its career as TS72-2 at the fire brigade of Dirksland, also at Goeree-Overflakkee. At that time, the vehicle was still red with a single white stripe around the vehicle. In 2014 the vehicle moved to Stellendam as TS71-3 and received a major update there a few years later. The old strobe lightbar has been replaced by a highly visible LED bar and the grille beacons have also been replaced by LED beacons.
The replacement for this 23-year-old Volvo is a brand new Mercedes-Benz Atego with Rosenbauer superstructure. The vehicle is state-of-the-art with cameras all around and beautiful LED lighting. These Fire Engines come from a tender of +/- 15 pieces for various corps in the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region. The vehicle is not yet in service but will be ready for delivery within a month. This also puts an end to the Volvo FL6 17-4131.

Ik vind de Volvo het mooist vooral de lucht hoorn 4 naast elkaar en die zwaaibalk op dak

Overdag kunnen ze ervoor kiezen om vier hoorns te gebruiken en in de nacht kunnen ze overschakelen op twee hoorns, de zogeheten nacht-stand. Ook de lichtbalk gaat dan niet volledig branden.

The volunteer fire men and fire women do a wonderful job and I have much respect for them. I used to live in an area where we had retained fire fighters who left their jobs when their pager went off, they got paid for every fire or accident they attended . Do these get paid for attending?

Zijn deze alleen voor de kleinere korpsen of komen deze ook op Bosland en Baan etc ?

Vooralsnog zijn deze voertuigen voor de korpsen die nog een ouder type auto hebben. De korpsen Hoek van Holland (17-0131) en Capelle aan den IJssel (vrijwilligers 17-1132) hebben dit voertuig al operationeel. Oudenhoorn gaat binnen enkele weken operationeel. Dan zijn daar nog Hellevoetsluis (17-2531), Stellendam (17-4131), Krimpen aan den IJssel (17-1231) en Maassluis (17-0231) welke het nieuwe voertuig al hebben ontvangen maar nog worden afgelest. Ook de korpsen Ridderkerk (17-3832), Herkingen (17-4431) en Stad aan 't Haringvliet (17-4731) krijgen in de toekomst ook nog een nieuw voertuig. Daarnaast zullen er nog meer voertuigen komen maar of deze als reserve gaan rijden, naar de afdeling vakbekwaam gaan of de tankautospuiten van de beroepskazernes in Rotterdam gaan vervangen is onbekend.
