    I've been watching hundreds of tutorials but yours are the only ones that made me really understand these knots. Thanks for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You sir are a legend thank you so much for explaining the mechanics of the knot rather than just reciting a “pattern” to remember and follow, I have a shocking memory so finding something that gives logic to the movements is fantastic, thank you for sharing your skill with us! ❤️

    Hey man, thanks very much for the video! I don’t care that you skipped part of it, I saw enough to learn it. I agree with your philosophy of teaching the pattern instead of the step-by-step approach. I tied it on a small flashlight grip in black with colonial blue interweave, looks sharp!

    When it comes to the Turks head weave/knot...I've watched countless hours of online "how to's" and poured over an entire universe of step by step instructions. So while I was listening to your explanation pertaining to how to split pairs and differentiating the interweave from the base knot, for the umpteenth time...it suddenly CLICKED!!! I now see how the Turks head knot is formed, and can create one with any number of parts and bights. THANK YOU SIR!

    REALLY good explanations. Understanding the why to do the how IS key. Defining with 'rules' is really good. Thank you!

    Thank you for explaining the knot. I might be able to figure it out now. I just wasn't getting the idea from watching over and under. Very informative. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

    Thank you Sir... your videos are reminding me of all that I've forgotten about braibing Turks heads,.. 55 years ago my father taught me... I bought a few books and learned all I could... and then forgot all I could...
    You dont just show how to make the knot you actually teach... Something miss in far too many videos... I thank you Sir... Kenn

    I love your videos and they have made a big difference for me. I am struggling with finishing this knot though. Can you please continue this video or do another one showing how to finish this knot?

    • @zecuse
      @zecuse Рік тому

      Old comment, but finishing a Turk's head just involves tucking the ends under the weave. For a long one like this, you can just undo the standing end halfway up the weave and continue the working end until they meet in the middle. When you tighten this up, they should stay hidden under the weave pretty easily and the pattern should even make it hard to see where it begins/ends.

    For uneven bight counts one would go under over the third round 2:53 or the second round 2:48?

    The expansion process is presented with a clear understanding and well worth watching but, the herringbone interweave starting at 10:30 leads to a dead end unless, I'm an idiot and haven't been following along properly. The poster does not respond to requests for further instruction and neither has anybody else which sucks.

      A Gaucho interweave is not possible on a long TH. You need to do a Gaucho Fan knot. Or tie a direct Gaucho knot without a base TH.

    What I've learned since asking this question is that it is possible. I've done it. If its possible to say, use grid maker to tie a long gaucho as a gaucho, it is therefore possible interweave a TH as a gaucho on a long knot.

    • @MabelTyingTuts
      @MabelTyingTuts 9 років тому +1

      GR Worthington Worthingtjust because you can create a long Gaucho knot on Gridmaker does not automatically mean you can interweave a long Turkshead with a Gaucho. Because they are two different things and they follow mathematical rules. I explored this with adding bights to the TH to interweave and for example you can tie 5L Gaucos ie Spanish ring knots of all sizes. Meaning every bight no. is possible. But they are constructed after 4 different patterns. Two different ways of interweaving a 3L base TH. And 2 ways of tying direct Gauchos. You may like to watch my videos on these direct ones as I found an elegant method that beeds no pins. As for now I have tried on different long THs many times to do a Gaucho interweave and I haven't succeeded.

    i very much liked your video and the others on the turks head knots.I am having so much difficulty in learning these knots, as I am being self tought. How did you learn? and could you point me in the right direction? I am looking for a book that just simply states "this is a gaucho knot, here's how to tie it, and this is what makes it a gaucho knot" for all the turks heads and thier interweaves. any help and or videos would be appriciated,thanx.

      I began learning from a cowboy on a ranch. He recommended Bruce Grant's books. I read them and from there, everything I could find on decorative knots. It was only after tying hundreds of Turk's heads that I began to recognize the relationships to each other. As far as anything simply stating "this is a gaucho knot", You can find that, but it's not quite accurate. Technically anything with the weave going around the knot is a gaucho, anything with the weave running the length (toward the bights) is a herringbone. The knot in the video is a herringbone. The one in my sailor's bracelet video is a gaucho.

    If i want to add more bights later, does it matter if i do 2 or 2 and a half turn at the very beginning?
    I'm trying to add one, but on the first pass, going from right to left, i'm ending up a half turn away from my standing end

    Besides a Gaucho or a Herringbone interweave, what other kinds of interviews are there? Could you provide a video showing how to do those other interweaves. Or perhaps even a single master video showing them all

      Knottactical has done some of the best videos on THK I’ve seen. Sorry there are not more. If you have not already seen Tom Halls Intro to THK’s, give it a try. It will fill in a or of the gaps and explain the othe types of weaves.

    I have a question. Is the herringbone interweave the same as a pineapple interweave? I'm having difficulty determining whether they're different...

    • @MabelTyingTuts
      @MabelTyingTuts 8 років тому

      As Knottactical hasn't answered your question yet, +gedep I will take the liberty to do so. I also like to recommend Tom Hall's "Introduction to Turk's Head Knots". This is the ultimate book to learn about them and their interweaves like Pineapple Knots, Herringbone knots, Gaucho knots etc. A Pineapple knot and a Herringbine knot are not the same, but the Herringbone pattern that they create are similar. Also the Pineapple knots that create this pattern are fully called Standard Herringbone Pineapple Knots to add to the confusion. Usually they are called Pineappke knots though. The main recognizable difference between a Pineapple knot and a Herringbone knot is the fact that the PKs have nested bights and the Herringbone knot doesn't. Instead in a Herringbone the bights of thecinterweave lie between the bights of the base knot on the same bight boundary. Therefore the Herringbone has to be tied differently than a PK. If you think of a 2-pass Pineapple type 2 then the 2 identical THs are stacked (on a horizontal mandrel) sideways with nested bights. In the Herringbone you can think of the second TH being rotated slightly and then stacked sideways. To makecthat possiblecthe second knot is a sobre TH.
