After having the blue inline water filters clog quickly and also release little plastic granules into our faucets, we gave up on them and built our own multi stage water filter using several whole house filters that is the F size droo in cartridge filters. Our first stage is a sediment filter followed up by a carbon taste and impurity filter. It works great, has better flow than the inline filters. The great part is you can disassemble the unit, rinse off, dry and reuse the filters many times unless you are in an area with really bad water.
I'm not sure that we are smart enough to do that, but we have had several people say that they built their own. We may have to look and price that. That is a really great idea!
