This is super encouraging information! Congratulations on setting and keeping a realistic budget. That’s much less than what I’ve been coming up with based on other research ($3500?). I’ll be digging into your numbers for sure. Even if our rent ends up being $1000 range this is still a comfortable number!
Thanks Kathy. The rent is the biggest single expense for sure. We are also in the process of determining what our Portuguese taxes will be for the year. We'll explain that when we get it figured out. Probably around August.
Just subb'd....We are moving to Portugal next year, 2024. We'd like to move sooner, we'll see if we can work that out. We are coming in November for a scouting trip, it will be our 2nd visit. We would love to meet you both ❤
I am curious where in Porto you live for only $600 a month. That seems so low. I need to got through your previous videos to see if you did a tour of your apartment. Thanks for the google docs. Very helpful !!
That's what we were going for, helpful. Yes, we were fortunate to find an apartment in the Cedofeita neighborhood for 600 euros. The housing market here in Porto is a bit crazy at the moment. Most of what I have read basically says it is going through a correction and should level off by mid year. When searching have a clear list of your priorities. That will help you zero in on the best property for you. We came here sight unseen. So only pics of the apartment.

Ah, you must be referring to Portland, Oregon, not the original Portland overlooking Casco Bay in Maine, where we lived, loved and thrived for 8 adventurous years.
Love the scarf! Thanks for the videos.

Finally, retirement bloggers that don't look they just rolled out of a homeless camp in Portland.

Lol, and I was worried about not being able to live on 11,000 USD a month even after buying a house and car outright.
Opportunity awaits you! Obrigado Alan for your interest and desire for new adventures.
