Good explaination sir. I’m already bought custom 500 last week, I pick “L” size and it’s very comfortable on my head. But, i have a few problem to insert my glasses after wearing this helmet because it’s slightly tight on my cheeks 😂. Do you have any idea to fix it 😊
Thank you, this comment was exactly what I was looking for. I keep looking for the right helmet for my husband (he is a XXL) but all the reviews are done by small headed guys so no good.
Trying to get a slim helmet with modern standard protection is always going to be a compromise, especially considering how stringent ECE Standards are (it's a wonder they allow open face helmets at all). Add a peak and wear a Buff to even it all out..
I bought one of these helmets but sits to low my glasses are pressing down on my nose causing pain after a couple of minutes. The helmet is really tight so I did not get the wrong size. Anyone know how I can fix this?
Hello, you can either spray clean it or remove it and wash it with gently soapy water and let it air dry. Here is a video we made showing the process: ua-cam.com/video/zGGZAMsuDRc/v-deo.html
Hello, we wouldn't say it's "intercom ready" but yes comms systems have been installed in these with success, specifically the Sena 20s. Take note though, being that this is an open face helmet voice clarity and hearing clarity will not be optimal due to wind/motorcycle/other external sounds.
Hello, on our website, just below the size selection box is a link for Bell's sizing chart. You would wear a small. www.chapmoto.com/bell-helmets-custom-500-open-face-helmet.html
This is good as a -go to the shop slow- helmet. It feels cheap. The straps are thin and not padded. The d rings have been stamped out of a thin sheet of metal. The inside padding is so thin that even correct size is not comfortable. Cheek pads are not suited to all sizes. A helmet that fits the crown of your head may not fit the width of your face, leaving visible gaps. We are talking basic stuff here. Its a collectors helmet to wear at low speed and hang on the wall. I am bemused at how poor the materials and fitment are for a modern helmet. Go Japanese if want something that works. This one relies too much on “heritage” or in that people who where famous used it because at the time there was no better thing. Vintage can be done properly to modern standards with a bit more care.
Thanks for providing your thoughts. bell makes some good helmets. Not all of their helmets fit the needs/wants/or desires of all riders. Riders have different head shapes, so not all helmets are suitable for specific head shapes. It's best to find what is most comfortable and fits your head shape.
My fiancee loves her Custom 500 with the bubble shield. She's slightly claustrophobic and doesn't like a full face and this setup works great for her.
Hi Matt, thanks for watching our video. Huh, never considered that aspect, but makes sense. Glad she found a helmet that works for her.

Hello, after time the internal cushioning will break down a be a bit more pliable, so maybe then your glasses will fit more comfortably.
I wear a large bell custom500 open face. Looks like I have a bobble head, not slim at all. If you have a small baby head it looks right.
Yeah the larger sizes of this helmet aren't very flattering.

Hello, it sounds like maybe this helmet is not a good fit for your head shape.
Nice review
Thank you! Cheers!
I like Bell Helmet so much. I like the style. Hope to have it very soon. But I can't 🙏

Does anyone know how to clean the visor? Tried cleaning, but stays blurry 🤔
Hello, have you tried warm soapy water?
Is the Bell custom 500 is intercom ready ? It has a pocket for speaker?
Hello, we wouldn't say it's "intercom ready" but yes comms systems have been installed in these with success, specifically the Sena 20s. Take note though, being that this is an open face helmet voice clarity and hearing clarity will not be optimal due to wind/motorcycle/other external sounds.
Are the BELL stickers removable?
No they are not. There is a clearcoat over the stickers.
head size 55 cm and what size would it be ?

What would be the weight difference between the fiberglass & the carbon helmets? (Size Med.)
Hello, unfortunately we do not have any of the carbon helmets in stock so I cannot tell you the weight difference. Sorry.
No air ventilation.
True. This open face helmet does not have any forehead vents or rear exhaust vents.
Original frm usa?
Made in China 👎
