    cool (yes make fun of me for saying cool). emotional and mental illness is so underrated especially in Asian countries. it REALLY needs to be discussed. you shouldn't feel any less human just because you're not "normal" #speakingfrompersonalexperience

    • @yahinkie9532
      @yahinkie9532 7 років тому +5

      Why would someone make fun of you for saying cool?

    • @fdnbackingtracks
      @fdnbackingtracks 7 років тому +2

      If you were normal, you should feel less human. There is no perfect in this world as we know it. Perfect is actually something that makes us imperfect. If the world was perfect, we would loose every motivation and meaning of our existence - thus the world would not be perfect. Being normal means that you are highly likely to suffer from illness, deceases etc. Mental illness is the same thing like catching a cold, or breaking a leg, or having an appendix or diabetes. It is just that when someone says this person has a depression, people immediately get this vision of psychiatric isolation housing people who are handcuffed to stretchers, screaming for hours while having hallucinations, banging their head against the wall.Mental illness is something you cannot see directly, you cannot pin point it, and most importantly you are not able to understand it, because the chances are you are most likely not capable of diving really deep into someones psychology and biochemistry of the brain, Nothing to be ashamed of, it is just an illness that can be treated.

      Having a mental illness isn’t fun and games.Whenever it ruins your life and stops you from doing what you want to do and achieve eventually.

    Thank you so much for this episode! I suffer from a Q-fever bacteria (QVS) for almost 3 years now! I'm struggling with extreme fatique and another symptoms on a daily basis. I'm now studying in art school for illustration & animation. It is really a relief to illustrate art to get it out of your mind and create some awareness for invisible illnesses in general! People sometimes forget how much emotional and mental pain it cost for those who suffer.
    Keep on fighting! 💪♥️ Xxx

    I feel this on such a deep level. For three now it's been pretty rough for me. And art has become my everything. My depression, anxiety, and OCD worsened and I ended up hospitalized. Art is how I coped. I drew so much on my hands as well, which was not permitted in a hospital, so they took my markers for a day and I broke down crying. It's what focuses me and keeps my ADHD and check. I used art to express and cope with my PTSD from an abusive relationship. Art is how I vent and how I focus all my energy onto one thing to find a sense of calm. If you ever need a new way to deal, create.

      Chuck Phillips I know, right? I've been sick over half my life (diagnosed since I was 12) but I still sometimes check for bruises. There just seems there is no way for it to hurt that much without there being some sign of damage. It's really oddly disturbing. I feel like... if it was visible, people would treat us way differently.

      Erica Coronado Amaya I don't remember it well (I was 12) but it really feels like once it happens to you, you can't go back. It's tough, especially in the teen years, because your peers don't understand and don't want to feel uncomfortable trying to deal with it. I'm really sorry it hit you young too. I hope the new year is one that holds some improvements, in treatment, or quality of life, for you. Keep fighting the good fight!

    You are an inspiration to me! I have MS (considered an "invisible" disease,) and it causes constant pain. Kudos to you for doing something positive that will help others!

    My favorite buzz feed episode ever. It consists of art (amazing art) and the topic of mental illness it’s still so grey u don’t know what’s wrong with you and people say it’s nothing but it’s something and to see that expressed is hella dope. I’m an “artist” in a way and I just got tired of creating perfect people in a perfect world. The world isn’t perfect and showing and illustrating that sends waves. #GoGurl

    I have pain in my back and neck and mostly all over my body. I've gone to some doctors and all they tell me is that it's my anxiety. I just recently got a blood test and nothing came up. Every time I eat I have pain on my sides under my ribs. One of those doctors said it could be fibromyalgia. But the other ones just told me to eat better. I'm constantly told that I just need" to get over it" and "nothing's wrong with you, relax" .Sometimes I get horrible side pains every time I eat. I've had this issue for 3 or more years now. On a side not I really love ~"Take your broken heart and turn it into art" ~

      Julia Brustad A lot of people with FM also have IBS, which, paired with an unnatural or enhanced pain response (like that in FM), can present as pain instead of 'cramping.' I was diagnosed at 12 and now my father is an Interventional Pain Management Doctor (he had an interest in it to try to better understand what I was going through and if it could be helped better) so I have a passing knowledge.
      It seems some doctors are shying away from diagnosing chronic pain because there are so many diagnoses every year now, and they want to make sure they diagnose people with a true chronic problem, and not something temporary or mental (it's still a stigma, though it has gotten better). But yeah, your neck and back and widespread pain (which is very FMy) and pain after eating are from anxiety. Sure. Also.... maybe they were checking for Lupus in the blood test, because there is no real blood test for FM. It's part of why it's a bit of a hand wavey diagnosis, because it has guidelines but there's no positive genetic marker we've found or specific hormone that gets spiked or anything like that. It's a set of criteria, including tender spots, the pain lasting a certain amount of time, and how bad the pain is.
      Did they check tender spots? If you go on a bad pain day and they check your tender spots, you're more likely to cross the threshold number required to be considered an FM patient. It's not an awesome diagnosis and there's really not much to do for it (and Lyrica usually causes too many side effects; all my contacts in the pain community hate it, and I myself, who was always average weight, gained like fifty pounds on it, was mentally foggy, and 'clumsy' until I stopped it) but I know the feeling of having something wrong and not knowing what it is. Just having a diagnosis is extremely validating and can help you fight; it's hard to fight shadows. I really hope you find a specialist who can help you, someone who really understands their stuff, and can point you toward the right diagnosis, be it FM or CPS or CRPS or something entirely different, so you can move forward. If you ever need to vent, or want to ask someone who's been around the pain community a while, you can find me on Insta at JordanWalkerWriter and AmaraJordan (I had to set one up for my writing). I'm not really active now because I'm in a flare, but I always reply to people who need a shoulder to lean on. Good luck, and I'm praying the next year will bring you either more information, or a way through. I'm sorry for the long post, but I'm a bit of a right fighter and I hate to see someone with a problem not being treated, on the off chance they're just looking for attention. Because the life of a chronic patient is just soo glamorous. *grrr* Ahem. I'm wishing you all the best.

    I have it too but not the Beta type. I have the most common one witch is SS.
    I have a video of me going to the ER while having a crisis and what goes through my head when I get admitted.
    My escape is make up. I can't draw but make up calms me down and let's me forget about the pain for a minute.
    I would love to see other videos on Sickle Cell Anemia. More people need to know what it is and what it does.

      I think the draw of makeup, when you have a chronic condition (Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since I was 12) is that you feel more in control of what people see. You can shape, craft, your mask. You can't control how you feel on the inside, but you can take control of how people perceive you. It's something I do too. I did it a lot in High School, when I could attend, to get people to keep their distance. Kids are cruel and by then I didn't want anything to do with them. Keep fighting the good fight. Hopefully in this new year things will get better.

And then remembered some peoples normal isn't crippling depression and self hatred, oops. Her art does do an amazing job of showing the pain that is inflicted with mental illness though.
