the cost of 1 liebherr crane tire is 2500 dollar the brakes 1200 dollar a piece X12 and with that weight these machines go through these things waay faster than any company wants ^^
Just an idea, instead of driving the crane in reverse to unload from the trailer, what if extract the four legs of the crane then pull the trailer up? It seems lots of risks involved in driving the crane reverse to unload, there are big chances of tipping over, damaging equipment, derailing, getting stuck.

It only protects the bottom half of the windscreen -- better than nothing --- because to have it higher would restrict the drivers view of the road ahead, which is a very strict No No No !!!!!!!!!! in Australia.

Would be a quite a task to shift an oversize load, as you never know where it will come from and where it is going to, and the route has to be thoroughly measured beforehand. Sagging power lines would cause problems too. Or where extra pay tv cables have been added to the pole below the power lines.

But no doubt the Police were aware of the 'movement' of such a large item of machinery and would have responded quickly to any mishap.

Nice piece of equipment. Shure, the Liebherr is a mobile hydraulic roadgoing crane. But think about the fuell economy of the Liebherr, the permits required to drive it through Australia. My best guess is this was the best way to transport it, expensive? yes very! But the alternative (self driven) is not great also. In Europe we drive them on the highways, but the distances are not that huge as in Australia.

Why was there a crane used to hoist the dolly onto the trailer ? Couldn't the truck have backed it up onto the trailer so there wasn't a crane needed ? Also, why didn't they use the big crane that was on the trailer instead ? Now they had to bring in an extra crane (at least, that's what I'm assuming).

I have no idea how much this crane tares but the road surface would not take it unless quite a large pad of dunnage was laid under the outrigger base plates. Be rather sad if the weight caused one of the base plates to go through the road surface and break a water main or gas line.

In Norway we drive these on the road, no problem. You have to get a permit for the weight, but no problem driving these around.

I have no idea how much this crane tares but the road surface would not take it unless quite a large pad of dunnage was laid under the outrigger base plates. Be rather sad if the weight caused one of the base plates to go through the road surface and break a water main or gas line.
To lift this crane you need a bigger crane, and so on.
