Today I read the comments and I don't think I've ever posted a comment to you and shame on me for not doing so. I've been watching you and Red Poppy Ranch, My Self Reliance to name but a few from the beginning and I'm totally invested in your journeys and of other UA-camr's being modern pioneers, restoring Chateau's ( love Stephanie's vlog!), forging (Alec Steele) bushcrafting, various artists painting and other art forms, you name it.. I have my own struggle in a hundred-year-old year old stone building where I'm turning the upstairs into my rather large apartment, the down: my art studio. I agree with many of the comments the videos and the editing and your format are really improving. You're showing what true grit and sacrifice can get you too while you're at it. The skills you're passing on to your children, I believe are an inspiration too many !! We need more people like y'all in the world. I understand your struggle to stay warm , The Rock as I call it, is a stone cold behemoth even with a wood stove!😂😂
You and Heath seem like non stop on the projects! That’s what ranch / country life needs. People who aren’t afraid to work. Glad that you are allowing so many people to see some of the work that goes into building your own place.
Every time I watch your videos I just think what a beautiful thing it is that you're teaching your children and I know a lot of people tell you this and you've heard a ton of times. But I believe that we as a society have gotten away from what we can do ourselves and this education that they are getting is priceless. My grandfather built houses and my mother and aunts and uncles grew up on the build site and there was stuff that they did pass down to us children / grandchildren which has given me the strength and belief that I can also build my own home along with other UA-camrs that document the journey. Thank you so much for sharing
Great introduction. The title over the natural scene told everyone what we were about to see. The occasional voice overs aided in understanding your journey. The ending with you two talking was an excellent closer.
This is quite and adventure and history too. Hope the Kids can appreciate it more now that it's becoming a Home. They have worked hard also, yet, I can imagine times when it was unbearable too. The whole family has done a wonderful job. I was watching way back when you first arrived and the headlight caught the truck on fire. That's called Memories. Look forward to each video, good job.
Thank you guys for another great video and a longer one. It's so nice to see people like yourselves being Blessed. Really like the difference in the color's of the wood. Looks great.
this was such a great posting, on so many levels! The amount of work you got done was amazing. i have been worried about you folks and the cold and i am sure this has helped a bunch. To see the siding really adds to the look of the place and just how far you have come. Excellent! The video quality really, really improved! and the editing was super! For me, everything clicked this week. The under music fit, and the story line was in context and not jumping all over. Well done! Call me invested, but i want so much for you folks to get moved in and warm! Just a great visit, thanks for letting us tag along!
Wow looks wonderful and a lot accomplished for sure. Good job all and God's blessings. Thank goodness for kind neighbors and wonderful son's that helped.
You guys are getting better with your videos. We sure enjoy watching your progress. Love the endings with the two of you. Would love to see more daily life, feeding animals, what the property looks like, the entry road and bridge we watched you build, food prep and storage. Thanks!
I enjoy your videos and I like seeing both of you together! I like the way you’re trying to do things by getting a deal, with A big challenge like you have it’s the best way to go.
You are moving right along. Looks great!! So nice that you have friends that own awesome equipment to make your jobs easier. Didn’t realize how close you were in proximity to Red Poppy Ranch. Saw it a few times in the shot just across the valley. How awesome is that to have them that close!! Take care. Be safe. Stay warm!!! Happy February!
HELLO from las Vegas Nevada, thank you for sharing part of your life with us, GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
The intro was awesome. You guys are working under hard conditions, glad mud hasn't stop you this year. ❤how well its coming along plenty of content for sure👍
Great video this week. You all are getting better every week putting these together. Love the hard work ethic. Liked how you all talked together at the end. Keep it up. Looks good.
That is a beautiful structure you have there, brothers! Work that is a labor of love becomes art. Nice artistry. Thanks for sharing. It inspires me as I try and create my own dream of home on my acreage, too. God bless you and yours!!
Time goes by fast when you don't want it to(using the lift) and so slow when you want it to move faster(making it livable.) Such is life! Looks great, before you know it you will be moving in. Nice puppy...
Great job its looking good. I built my own house without a mortgage so I know what is involved. It took me five years. Once we moved in with bare studs and no insulation it was a great feeling. Congrats on the accomplishment.
Nice work I think you have accomplished exactly what you wanted to look like around the 1800 style ya looking awesome Take care be safe (ps I don't see too many safety glasses on the job site lol )
I didn't realize how close you were to Red Poppy Ranch... I thought you guys' were higher on your hill..You guy's have to feel some sense of relief to get that upper room dried in... great video, keep up the awesome work.. blessings from Central Texas..
Board and batton look so good in natural settings and durable, big hail or wind takes care of vinal and aluminum siding pretty quickly. Send some of that snow our way in Wyoming black hills last summer has been drought and still is.love the music you pick to go with it
Great job I love the board and batten siding ! I put boards on part of my log cabin in NC mountains almost 20 years ago and I still haven’t gotten around to the battens ! Maybe this year , LOL
When it comes to the battens.... We always put just one nail, down the center of the batten. Ends up between the boards. That way, no nails go through board and batten both. This allows all to swell and shrink without cracking, or interfering with each other.
What happens over time as the siding boards shrink, thus making the gaps wider? What holds the battens in place when the gaps exceeds the width of the nails?
@@SteveDiamond19 Thank you Steve. You are correct. The boards never shrink enough to show a gap between them and the battens. The nails down the center of the battens hold the battens in place. Always.

Love it, a lot of progress with this video. My favorite, boards & batten. ♥️

@@olgringo-421 boards will never part far enough to show a gap? All the wood will swell and contract at roughly the same rate.
