That's awesome I'm going to build a cage on a 4runner and there haven't been many videos on mig welding them it seems like everyone is brazing this looks like the way to go. Thanks for the video.
Good work man. That is exactly how I build my cages. What were you using for a bender? A brake line tool? Ive actually been having fairly good luck bending with a 1/4" tubing bender as I can't seem to find one that goes down to 3/16", which is the size I like to use. I'm using the same steel rod as you as well I believe. I bet if you sanded the paint off your chassis grounds, your mig-wire would arc up quicker and easier.
Chad Harzbarger Thank you!! I've been using 3/16in solid steel rod. I didn't use brake line because I had this laying around. And as far as what I used to bend it.... my hands and eyes lol. Been working just fine for me. And maybe some pliers or a vise to help a little.. Thanks again for your comment!

Palce hore pekná klietka.
Why not adding a nut or washer to the rod ends and it will be removable?

How has the cage held up? This is what I’m going to do with my truck.
haha I think I have that same welder, a Astro power? wicked hard to find info on, and good work on the cage!
what size tubing did you use
Shane Gibson 3/16 solid steel rod
What chassis did you use for the base for your roll cage?
axial scx10 chassis
+JH129M Thanks man! I am looking to build something like this, it'll be my first time building an rc car, somewhat from scratch.
+Johnny Rubio yeah the scx10 chassis is in my opinion the best platform for a custom scale build. good luck building it!
+JH129M Can you buy just the chassis or do you have to buy a full rc truck?
+Johnny Rubio I found them. Thanks for your help man! I really appreciate it.
