    Just bought one of these yesterday from my local shop to replace my G17 as my CC. As much as I love my G17, it's not good for me to carry as it's just too bulky. I'll give it to my husband to carry for when he naturalizes next year. I'm super excited to shoot this one at the range and I know it'll be perfect for my CC needs. Really cool to see it operate up to 50 yards with such a short barrel.

    I’ve had my Walther ppk/s .22 for 6500 rounds. I’ve found that it likes CCI mini mags target copper coated because they have a more consistent and accurate fill of propellant. It will jam 1% of these cartridges, and after 200 rounds will jam sometimes 2-3%. It needs to be well cleaned and lubricated at 400 rounds which is fairly easy to do. I had to replace the main recoil spring at 4500 rounds, bought from Walther Arms. I highly recommend this firearm if you think my observations are reasonable.

    I had one a year ago. I got only 5 shots. I love it. But I didn’t think this little gun and 22lr caliber can effect shooting from 150 feet’s. But you showed that this gun capability to shoot from 50 yards to hit target. I will try like as you. Thanks. That’s why I love this gun more than before.

    At 1:28 you describe the safety as "frame mounted." It is a slide mounted safety. Thanks for including the chart with ammo comparison, very helpful. Thanks also for telling the trigger weight, my scale only goes up to 12 and I knew the double action pull was more but not how much more. Decent course of fire to demonstrate accuracy/range.

    I purchased a PPK/S a few months ago. Yes, it is a fun to shoot pistol and looks good to boot! So far no malfunctions, although I did change the front sight blade to the lower one to bring the pattern up a bit using Remington and CCI and some really old Federal ammo.

    Good presentation. I like Walther's, good quality. I gave all my five daughters the Walther P22. However my all time favorite 22 pistol is the "Sport-King" .22 manufactured by High Standard Mfg Corp. The machining tolerances on this gun are accurate to an incredible degree, there is absolutely no rattle. This gun is older than I am and I'm 68, unfortunatley they went out of business. Back to the subject, the fact that you can hit a steel plate at 50 yards is impressive.

      I have two Sport Kings, both of them pre-WWII models. One has the barrel mounted on a rail, the other has a ball-like stud which pops down into the receiver. These little pistols shoot like rifles, and you couldn't trade me a semi-trailer full of Ruger Mk IV pistols for either one of mine! I just wish I could find more magazines for them.

    You should give the new CCI Copper-22 ammo a try. It fires a 21 grain bullet, supposedly at 1,850 fps (from a rifle, I assume). From my PPK/S, this ammo clocks a good 1,650 fps according to my Beta Chrony. Moreover, I've seen what this ammo can do to a squirrel. A shoulder shot nearly decapitated the poor critter. Ruined a lot of good meat for the frying pan. The only thing that kept the squirrel's head attached was the skin and fur at the front of its throat. If this ammo will do that to a 3-4 pound squirrel, then I have no qualms about carrying mine for self-defense (and I'm a long time .45 Cooperite)!
    Right out of the box, no cleaning, etc., I took it to the range determined to see how long it would take to jam. I remember the disastrous little junkers that were made during the Walther/Smith & Wesson "partnership." Those guns were junk. It took two days, and I ran through more than 2,600 rounds of every kind of rimfire ammo you can think of, and it didn't malfunction a single time! So I'm doubling-down on it being a great concealment gun for when I can't carry a .45 or my Browning Hi Power.
    I got mine from Palmetto (the AR-15 people) for $229.99 (November, 2019). Spare mags are a nightmare to find in stock anywhere, but I've manage to snag a couple for $35 each, plus tax and shipping.
    This is one great little pistol. And you're a helluva good shot! I can nail six of those plates at 50 feet in 3.5 seconds, but I don't think my eyesight would allow me to hit consistently at more than 25 yards.

      I got one about a year ago. Yes, it is VERY finicky on ammo. It absolutely, completely, and totally refuses to cycle Armscor ammo. I've had problems with other less-than-high quality ammo as well. It's done well with Norma "tactical" ammo, CCI, and Remington......but still not totally reliable. It definitely has to be clean as well. I'm still glad I got it though.

      People can dog a .25 ACP all day. In the end John M. Browning designed it specifically for small pocket pistols. It always goes bang and is very very reliable. With good Hornady XTP ammo it is on par with a .380 ACP FMJ round nose.

      I have both 950BS Jetfires in .25 ACP and 21A Bobcats in .22 LR.
      I like them both but trust the .25 ACPs a little more. Some of the .22 LR reliability is increased by using CCI Mini-Mags.
      Mine shoot everything.....it's misfires that cause the problems. Just shot my 21A Bobcat again the other night. Even with cheap bulk pack Remington Thunderbolts and Federal 550 it shoots fine. Once in awhile one won't fire even with a struck rim. That seldom if ever happens with CCI ammo.

      Ammo Man I have one of the newer Umarex Fort Smith, AR ones and CCI Standards often will not function properly. Usually a fail to eject from the shell locking in the port. It seems to function best with HV ammo, and even then, mine absolutely refuses Federal HV match. It will feed Winchester Super-X/Browning ammo, but once in a while a spent case gets stuck in the chamber. They're finicky pistols... I have had almost 400 rounds through mine, and those issues haven't been solved. I speculate the recoil spring is just a touch too heavy

      I think I do also. A buddy of mine bought the PPK and 380 and it’s no fun to shoot. The sides are horrible and the web of your hand takes a beating. The bersa thunder 22 has a readily available light weight spring for standard velocity ammo.
      I’m a big Sig and CZ Guy. Got a 22 Kadet kit for my SP01 and it eats anything, including subsonic. Instead of the thunder 380, I purchased a Sig 238 for all the small people in my life. I’m looking at a 1911 22LR as a cheaper alternative with a similar manual of arms. I still like the way the Walther looks.

    I like very much the look of the ppk but like most 22 semiautos you have to try different brands until you get the one for that gun,on the other hand today's new 22 rugegs can take most brands whitout problem.

      500 rounds of thunderbolt with no cleaning and only one stove pipe on my mk 4. I have the stater kit with the long pencil barrel. All it does is hit the target no matter who's holding it.

    Why anyone would spend 200-300 bucks on this zinc pistol when the Beretta 21A is available for nearly the same price, and is made of the materials a gun should be made of is beyond me. As a collector item I suppose it makes sense.

    You say punching paper gets very boring. I find the opposite true with ringing steel. It's no real feat to hit a 6" or 8"+ steel plate over and over again. Some rounds barely nick the far leading edge and still ring and move it.
    It's much more serious and sophisticated to put groups on paper where they can be visually seen afterwards and measured. How's your marksmanship skills? These days it pretty much sucks from most shooters. They can ring steel all day long but they can't "print" on paper worth a damn!
    Truths!!

    Excellent! Every YT gun reviewer should study this one as a model. Everything you need to know, including rapid-fire close range, up to 50 yards, with targets shown. I'm tired so tired of these jerk-off vids -- some fool shooting with no picture of the target, or no distance info.

    The double action trigger pull is 17 1/2 pounds? Are you kidding me? Why? I have a Bersa Thunder which is a knock off of the Walther, and it's far less than that. A 22 is lethal, but most of the time, not right away. Shot placement is more crucial with a 22 and a 17 1/2 pound trigger pull doesn't contribute to shot placement.

      I very much did. I am almost totally uninformed on Walther's rimfire offerings other than their existence.I'm already a 9mm convert to Walther (PPS, PPQ), but now I have a whole new caliber to check out. Actually seeing a detailed review with offhand hits at 50 yds is quite a revelation. Thanks.

    • @PocketGunsandGear
      @PocketGunsandGear 8 років тому

      +Myanameis Beestingz I also have Pocket Guns and Gear channel. I'll be doing a Walther CCP and PPQ M2 5" 9mm review on that site later this year. Overlapping with the PPQ 9mm review is a PPQ 22LR review that will probably end up on The Rimfire Channel. I'm not sure how they will all fit together, but it should be interesting.

    • @stopthephilosophicalzombie9017
      @stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 8 років тому +1

      Awesome! I'll subscribe to the lot of 'em. I have been perpetually fascinated with the CCP since I handled it at the shop. Fit my hand perfectly. It has suffered with some manufacturing, quality control and most problematically, design issues, but according to folks at the Walther forums, those seem to be improving on later units. I hope the model survives, it is a cool little pistol.

    It's NOT available in a SILVER finish. It IS available in a STAINLESS STEEL finish. HUGE difference! Some other gunsb that may appear 2 B SILVER can B a NICKLE finish. I do not know of any gun with a SILVER finish. It would cost $1000's of $$$!
