At 8:57 you ask why AI puts more units in a tile with 10 forts and less in the one with no forts, and I think it's because the one with forts shares a border with Switzerland. It doesn't make much sense(maybe AI think you could be attacked from 2 nations in that tile?).

only a small risk of parkinsons, eh adolf?
Alex, you should have requested all the troops from puppet countries, focus on jet aircraft and just dig in in Germany, I managed to beat the mod but it took me all the way to 1951. And keep your navy(subs) in the Baltic Sea so you can free up Garrison divisions/manpower/eq.
So pretty much:
1. Fall back to the fat river that starts in Danzig and pull the fallback line all the way to the Alps and the river on the Italian border.
2. In the West you actually have a good chance of pushing D-Day back, if not, fall back to the closest fattest river close to the Maginot
3. Put your Navy in the Baltic Sea on Convoy Raiding to free up Garrison divisions which are fine against the AI
4. Focus your airforce on interception and keep Germany from getting bombed by building AA
5. Make your divisions cheaper to produce but not too weak (20 combat width and Engies is fine)
6. Grind them out over several years (boring as hell, I know)

Plus make forts on weakpoints and radar to get more effective AAA. When you have enough factories put AA in your infantry and shred the allied CAS

Hey alex, i've been modding a mod for almost two years at this point, almost all by myself, and i would be really happy if you could check it out. The name is 'Do Good And Do Not Look Back', and you can find it on the steam workshop. It's an alternative universe where the dutch were the main colonizers of the world. At the moment the mod has 11 working focus trees (5 of which are major countries), a completely reworked map, and hundreds of events. If you could check it I would be really happy, i've been spending a lot of time on this project. Hope you're doing well!

Despite not saving Germany, you actually held the Soviets off so that most of the surrendering was done to the Western Allies and not the Soviets, which was Karl Doenitz’ aim for that brief period where he was in charge so you actually created a more favourable outcome for Germany than in our timeline.

I just tried the challenge. Iron Man Mode and this mod. I actually successfully destroyed the D-Day Landings, and held off the Soviets for way longer in their initial positions than is historically accurate, and much like you Alex I was certain I was going to last until the real Germany surrendered. However, I only managed to get to January 13th or 14th 1945. The Allies landed everywhere else in France, so I had to haphazardly make a new front in the German border. While doing that, the Soviets encircled literally hundreds of thousands of men in Hungary. By that point I was screwed.
Edit: Just made it to Jan 25th 1945.

Alex actually did what much of the German Army tried to do.
They fought hardest against the Soviets and weakest against the Allies so hopefully the Allies would determine the most of the peace treaties and not the Commies.

You should have tried to hold the allies on Normandy, they would have stacked so many divisions in it that they would have absolutely no supplies and they wouldn’t be able to push

The reason for the ai piling divisions on that level 10 fort is it borders Switzerland so it priorities that
on my first game doing this challenge sort of thing i managed to last til march of 45

The ai prioritises fallback lines based on how many sides they can be attacked from so if they can be attacked from 3 sides the ai wants to put 3 there since it can be pushed back Easier

Perhaps it wouldve helped if you advanced to Leningrad and took a north route to Moscow. So kinda playing as if the mod wouldnt be there but still having this borders.

U should try playing 1943 ENDSIEGE Scenario as germany. It IS winnable (very hard doh) and the mod is better in general

Okay honestly, your starting divisions are 9/0 which are okay for holding. By giving up massive tracts of land you are forcing yourself into a 1945 scenario. In the east falling to the vistula is a good plan, But hold romania. For Italy the gothic line is incredibly formidable. Hold it. In France, it is completely possible to push d-day back to the sea. BUT IF YOU NEED TO, Fall to the river in Paris and hold there for as long as possible. Production wise, prioritize infantry equipment and support equipment. Artillery and planes should have 15 factories each. Delete all existing Air groups and reorgnize into 100 stacks. Dont use strat bombers, tac bombers, or anything other then cas and fighters. Those 15 factories should only be on fighters. You wont be able to match allied air completely, but the luftwaffe will be able to give coordinated resistance if you concentrate your planes in a single zone. Once massive air forces try to fight you pull out. If you dont want to try and receive air supremacy, Split your stacks and put them on interception only. Thatll help with allied cas. Anyways this is just my expirence from the game and playing the mod, keep up the great content!
