- English - Route 70 from Docklands Waterfront City to Wattle Park in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs in an A Class Tram. Filmed 26th April 2016. It's one of my favourite routes to drive especially in Autumn as there is so much colour around. This is part one from Docklands to Riversdale Road and Power Street via Flinders Street and Richmond. It's late Autumn in Melbourne and it's a beautiful blue sky day for this tram ride. I hope you enjoy this one and look out for part 2.

Česká - Route 70 od Docklands Waterfront City Wattle Park na východním předměstí Melbourne v třídu tramvají. Natočeno 26 dubna 2016. Je to jedna z mých nejoblíbenějších tras řídit zejména na podzim, jak tam je tolik barvy kolem. Jedná se o část jednoho z Docklands až Riversdale Road and Power ulice přes Flinders Street a Richmond. Je pozdě na podzim v Melbourne a je to krásné modré obloze den pro tento tramvají. Doufám, že si tenhle a dávat pozor na část 2.

What a wonderful route! For me, the highlights were the great views of the Flinders Street Station gleaming in the low sun and the Dimmey's Clock Tower. Good stuff.

But before that, to an old fart like me, that right hand turn off Flinders Street is just science fiction!
Madden Grove level crossing at 38.30 was the site of much childhood naughtiness... (I grew up nearby) and on the left, Ashton's Circus set up each year. There was a Koorie Canoe Tree over there too!
Turns out, Schony, we have another mutual acquaintance in a now retired Trainer Scott from that Depot south of the river!

A very interesting ride. Those heritage trams are nice, do they operate a special route? Some interesting container trucks around 10:00, some of those have a lot of wheels. I presume that building on the right at 19:30 is some sort of museum or gallery? And a Leyland Titan outside it! Must be ex London.

Inner eastern Suburbs mate. That's where all the big money is. It's not far away from suburbs such as Toorak where some of the most expensive houses in Melbourne are built!
Great videography! For those of us not familiar with Melbourne tram types, I think it would be very good to start each program with a shot of the tram on which the video is being made.

I have watched numerous of your videos and have really enjoyed them. Your in a country I dream of and have always wanted to see and never will. Awesome video. One question: Does all people there cross the streets like that all the time like an large X corner to corner and run? Like there's not enough time to cross or something? If they did that here there chances of getting hit or worse would be very evident and happen. I live in the USA in Kansas and if we did that it would be considered Jaywalking although I don't know of anyone getting a Jaywalking ticket ever. Love your city its very nice. Will be watching your videos and watching over. Thanks for sharing. Are you the driver? God bless
People jaywalk over here all the time. It's even worse now they have phones and headphones as they look even less now. There's no real respect for the pedestian signals these days. I'm a driver at Southbank Tram Depot and have been for 15 years. Thanks for taking a look.

That tram line used to run where fed sqaure is along the yarra river before they took it out in 1999
+collingwoodrules go pies Correct and there was also a service that ran along church and chapel at that terminated there as well many years ago.
Schony747 i wish they never removed that tramline as it was a good view for of the river for tourists i wonder why they relocated it

Trees in full leaf give the city a warmer, more friendly appearance. Lots of traffic on some parts of this route. Those people should leave their cars at home and ride the trams!

Beautiful route! Quick question - how are undertakes by other vehicles prevented/discouraged at the stops where passengers must cross a lane from the pavement?
There are road laws in place that cars should follow. Generally motorists do the right thing but some are either impatient or don't know the road rule and that's where it becomes dangerous for passengers. Have a look at this link. ua-cam.com/video/OPuotwxaXwI/v-deo.html

Thanks. I don't drive the 1 and 8 as I'm a Southbank and sometimes hub driver. 8 runs from Malvern and Brunswick and 1 from Brunswick.
Thanks. I have no idea how the tram drivers manage all the shared streets. I'm thinking particularly of the area where the Lamborghini /Skoda/ Maserati dealerships are. No way would I manage all that traffic with a massive Tram full of people.
Traffic is harder to manage these days due to the fact there are more cars on the road, it takes people longer to get places and people are more impatient. After 15 years I'm pretty used to it.
why are the stops so close to each other?
Most of the tram network is based on the original cable car network where stops were closer. As for a couple on the 70 / 75 along Rivers dale Road which are no more themsn 90 metres apart , I can only assume the stops were built that way back then. Look at the newer extensions such as the 86, the stops in that section are further apart.
Tram 70 Late again, why am I not surprised. These trams never run on time. I put it down to poor management
