As a chick, the black finish is what made me finally spring for the ultra, after years of having an eye on it. It's sleek, understated and just so much more elegant than the silver toolwatch look of the natural titanium. It's sitting on my wrist right now and I'm absolutely loving it.
Agreed, I switched from Apple Watch to Garmin Forerunner with oled in January. Garmin software is okay but the battery life and navigation are the best features!!!
No shine? I have the original Ultra and iMO it looks way better and yes it doesn’t shine like bling shine, but it really looks a lot better than this military looking Ultra…this is coming from someone who loved the Original Black Titanium Watches from a few years ago.
I upgraded from the series 3 to the series 7 and then the ultra came out and I regretted not waiting a while longer. The Ultra 2 was a little disappointing. And now the series 10 didn't impress me neither. But the Ultra 2 in black has caught my attention and I have decided to take the plunge and go for the Ultra, I'm not an Ultra fitness person by any means, but I am kinda rough with my watches at work and am still looking forward to using features like the action button for when I'm working to work and stuff like that. Great review! My favourite one so far :)
This was my first Ultra series watch. I upgraded from the Series 7, and I love it! I don’t think it’s worth upgrading if you already have an Ultra 1 or 2, but if you’re looking to buy an Ultra for the first time, this is definitely nice.
Was not planning on picking this one up. Went with the AW10 titanium and just missed the bigger size. Seeing the AWU2 in person sold me. Agree with you that it does look a lot cleaner but gives a more rugged feel.
Oh it looks sooo good!! Thank you very much for the inside, tips and the shots of this beautiful watch. Having an Ultra 2 from last year, definitely tough not to get this beautiful color ❤
I wish they put this out when they launched the ultra range rather than a purely aesthetic update for a year old watch. Having paid full price on release of Mk 1, I'm gutted to have a silvery version when there's a far nicer option now available two years down the road, but I'm also not willing to upgrade just for that one feature
had mine 2 weeks now , really liking it but noticed today the sharp edge at the top of the screen has been scratched and now is visibly showing non-black/silvery colour - very minimally but enough to ruin the complete black look which is really annoying. I can't remember rubbing or bumping it against anything other than coming close to pay machines to pay for things. I thought it would last longer than that given all the hype around diamond coating etc. Really disappointing.
The black Ultra does look really nice but I think I still prefer the natural Titanium colour. Titanium has such a special lustre to it and I think it's a shame to cover that up. But yeah, the black still looks very nice, especially contrasting with the orange accents.
Im planning to buy Apple Series 10 46mm watch(titanium slate with slate Milanese loop), its costing me same as Ultra 2 Black. I like the finish & look of series 10 46mm in titanium slate with slate milanese loop. Is it still worth to go for Series 10, when I can get Ultra 2 at the same price? Plz guide/opine...
Depends on how you use the watch? If you do longer runs, hiking and other long workouts. The battery life on the regular watches are unusable for anyone doing a outdoor workout longer than 3 hours you need the Ultra (I switched from Apple Watch to Gramin Forerunner due to the terrible battery life of the Apple Watch)
👌👌👌👍….picking mine up friday. First ever Apple Watch and milense black titanium band😎😎😎. Can I ask a quick question! Can you customise the action button to add Apple wallet??? Cheers.
That is funny you are the only one thats know how to put the apple watch on your arm, all i have seen has put it on the wrist and that is wrong, you should put it on before that little bone on your wrist, and very nice review
Incredible video, you're the only one who has showed wearing existing natural titanium bands on with the ultra 2 in satin black. I'm upgrading from Ultra 1 to the Satin Black Ultra 2 on Friday and this video has confirmed I've made the right choice! Cheers.
Thanks for the review. Mine is incoming but really interested in the durability of the finish. This watch looks awesome. Really like the combo with the dark green Alpine Loop.
Okay, I have an Apple Watch 7 GPS in Blue. Was going to upgrade but now having serious doubts. I mostly use this to track cardio fitness and close rings each day. Is it worth upgrading?
Appreciate your review. I’m considering getting one this week. For fitness would you recommend the Ultra 2 black over competition? Also do you find cellular necessary?
@Desfit what do you think about it as a “serious” running watch. Want to use this but folks say if you’re serious, you go Garmin. Interested in your opinion. Thanks!
Did you only test the heartrate sensor while biking? How accurate is it, when running? Even Garmins Fenix models is that accurate compared to the heartrate straps.
@@DesFit Interesting...so it's kind of both? Whatever it is I just hope it's super scratch resistant. I have a few scuffs on the outside edge of my AWU2 from accidentally scraping the watch against a cement wall. You can barely see it but with the black coating I would imagine that would be much more noticeable.
I have the Ultra 1 and traded it in for the Ultra 2 Black. I pick mine up Friday along with my Desert Titanium Max. I just have to order the Milanese watch band later because they were sold out.
What degree of “less accurate” are we talking about with the Ultra2 HR sensors as compared to the series 10? Are we talking about couple BPM or 10-15off at any given time? Not sure if we are at a point in time where the difference in technology in these HR sensors would really make a noticeable difference?
I had the chance to test the Apple Watch Ultra Black in-store and noticed something intriguing. I used some sharp keys to scratch the surface a bit more aggressively than usual. At first, a mark appeared, but when I rubbed it with my finger, 90% of the scratch disappeared almost immediately. The scratches weren’t entirely gone-if you knew where to look, you could spot them. But overall, with normal wear and tear, it seems like the scratches won’t be too obvious. I feel like this really needs a more in-depth test to understand how it holds up in the long run. I’m torn between getting the Silver or Black version, but I’m leaning toward Black. If I knew how durable it really is, it would help finalize my decision. I think whoever does the first proper scratch test of the Apple Watch Ultra Black is going to get a ton of views. There’s a lot of curiosity around this!
I don’t have an Apple Watch since the series 5 so I’ll definitely get an Ultra 2 in black which btw looks stunning for my daily workout session running swimming im fed up with wearing Rolex wanna get back to Apple Watch more fun best regards from Geneva Switzerland
hi ! I know you're a heavy user of Garmin for absolute good reason, imagine you go crazy, would be able to rock an Apple Watch for like 3 months, will be ... ok to you ? boring ? Seeing you in a vlog format of what you do + the mix of using different watch could be cool tho, but I'm just curious about you with an Apple Watch
I wonder if the lack of the answer to this across reviews is because it has a binning beacon of bright silver underneath the meniscus of black lacquer.
I can tell you right now it scratches bad and it shows bare titanium. I’ve scraped on the concrete a few times already right on the edge. Did it earlier had to turn around driving a customers car and go all the way back to the shop was rushing. Had to put a bolt in a shield reached under and scrapped it. The edge has some very small ones can’t see from a distance but up close for sure. When it gets to how my normal one was it will be noticeable probably. Will probably go back to light color next year
Does Training Load account for third party app workouts? For example if I do a RowErg or SkiErg workout using the C2 ErgData app on my iPhone with a chest HRM it will write to the Health app, but will it be included In Training Load or is that exclusively for workouts recorded on the Apple Watch?
PVD and DLC are similar but not exactly the same. DLC is superior. I've owned other watches and in my opinion there's no comparison. You can scratch through a PVD coating fairly easily where as the DLC pretty much need someone to actually TRY to damage it. Nice to see Apple using DLC.

What’s the correct way to wear the trail loop band? The extra loop or tag on my watch sticks out in my case. I am so unsure about the fit and styling.

As I understand it the samsung galaxy watch ultra also has sleep apnea detection, it'll be interesting to test both ( apple and samsung watch).
Apple usually ranks much higher than Samsung for accuracy in such things. Doubt sleep apnea will be any different.
