FF5 is my personal favorite from these games. I can't wait for my physical copy to arrive, so I can experience it again with a new coat of paint.

Something else i didn't hear in most reviews so far is that not only you can boost the exp/gil/secondary exp gain but also halve or disable them, this is a huge deal for min-maxers playing FF6 as now you can just disable the exp for the first half of the game and get the stat bonus in the later half. Or if you find the collection too easy you can also set the rewards to 0.5x and get an experience closer to the original versions
can we boost the exp/gil/secondary exp gain in the steam version too?

This may be a stupid question but what's the advantage of disabling the boost in the first half and using it in the second?

I want to play Octopath Traveler 2. I just really wanted to play the first one and it’s a shame that I can’t. Much like Bravely Default II on Switch. Like I still wanna play the first.
I bought them partly to play, partly to support an area of gaming I love.
FFIII is so my favorite because the story started off kinda like Lunar Silver Star Story on PS1. PS1 started off going to explore the Dragon Cave with Ramus for treasure and started an incredible story, Switch version seems to follow that somewhat and reminds me of my favorite RPG of all time, Lunar.
Maybe i'm not so crazy now that they added the pixel font. It was THE main reason i wasn't gonna get these remasters as heartbreaking of a decision it was.
Glad they listened and can't wait to get back from my holidays to finally replay these immortal masterpieces on my console.
I don't understand the hysteria over the fonts. Either way, it's very easily changed via mods for the steam version.

@@chocopuddingcup83 No it's not. It's a genuine complaint made by A LOT of reviewers. That "modern" font just contrasts with the pixelated graphics and it doesn't look good.Wich is why Square added the pixelated font because it makes for a uniform presentation. It's called aesthetics.

The console versions actually addressed a few issues that were present with the PC and Mobile versions, and added a few nice features, including allowing the player to switch to the original BGMs at any time. The only lingering issue is a minor cosmetic one with FFVI. I still think the sprites were remade too bright. The monster sprites are fine, but the character sprites are a little too bright for the tone of the game.
this is why im sticking to the originals, in general I just prefer the original character sprites for these games(especially in 6 though) and don't understand why they decided to change something that really didn't need fixing at all. these pixel remasters just feel so pointless to me, im kinda sad we will never get the original snes versions on switch because these are meant to "replace" them even when it feels like a downgrade with all the sprite and art changes made. maybe if the game wasn't made for mobile it could also look better. if the game had a option to play with the original graphics and sprites, similar to with the music, that would be a lot nicer

Would this perhaps influence how the sprites would have to be remade to consider this?
@@mattasaursthink the point was those sprites were made for CRT tvs. They were made with those intentions. These modern sprites are made to look more closely to how they should look without CRT.
Yeah apparently the PC version still hasn't been patched to add these additions. Pretty sure ff7 was the same way, console got more features
@@mattasaurs It wasn't really as much a change as it was that they had to remake the assets because they lost alot of the originals, and in Kefka's case, redesigning his cape to make the back of it a little less... 'suggestive'...
I'm only here for FF4 and FF6. Also, the game looks phenomenal on a modern LED TV. Most retro games look like ass when played on an LED screen, but FF6 looks amazing for what it is. I'm feeling like a 90s kid again.

They outdid themselves on FF6. The orchestrated score is absolutely amazing, and they went out of their way to actually remake the spell animations to match the originals (they didn't do that for 1-5, which all share mostly the same magic and item animations).
@@chocopuddingcup83 They even fixed Cyan. I hated using him because of that annoyingly slow bar to fill up to use his skills. Now you just choose a skill and it loads in the background allowing you to use other characters. I’d say Cyan is borderline OP now which is awesome.
I'm a massive loser and have only played FF15 and FF7 Remake. Somehow I totally skipped over them as a kid born in 1990. I loved both of the games that I played, but I am so excited to start with 1 and play every game up to 16. The journey to no longer be a loser begins! Wish me luck!

I splurged and got the bundle on Switch, might be willing now to actually play through FF2 since i have usually avoided that one. FFVI rocking the credits in the opening was so wonderful even if it wasn't like the original. The GBA bonuses don't bug me for FFVI and i hated how to get some stuff for FF3 on the DS w/ online, gonna be fun to play through my favorite again since FFVI was the only one i got on Steam.
I had play thru FF2 for the first time in pixel remaster (steam) despite owning it on gba/psp. The sound track helps, and with auto-battle is grinding for stats are not tedious anymore.
I'm really loving it so far! Keep in mind I'm 32. I grew up on these and Final Fantasy is my all time favorite franchise :). I do admit the price is abit high. If they had included IV: The After Years then ok, but it's whatever really. I do love the new features you can turn on and them not hindering you from getting the trophies. As someone who has a full time job and don't really have the time to grind (which I personally enjoy doing) I really love the exp increase along with the others.
is there any CRT filters ? i never liked the super sharp sprite look , these sprites/pixel games were meant to be blurred a little

@britexpat4982 Actually I meant to say I'm 34 which means I was born in 1989 2 years after the very first Final Fantasy came out. Therefore, I did indeed grow up with this franchise.

All extras in the GBA/PSP versions of these games are significant. It is so annoying they didn't include them.
I could really take or leave the content from 3-6. All the extra stuff from 1 is a huge loss. Not sure about 2

My personal favorite of this franchise easily. Have fun.
FF6 is, in my opinion, the best in the series overall, and you can tell how much effort went into it. Though it definitely pales in comparison in terms of graphics to titles like FF12 or 15, it's an example of world-biilding and storytelling done right. Also, it has one of the best villains in the series, uwee-hee-hee!

I like the fact that we can change the ost from original to remaster however for ff1 & 2 for example I wish we had the Dawn of Souls versions of the ost.

Ff3 is my comfort game. Ive played it 5 times just this year. I look forward to giving FF5 another chance on the console version since i really hate how slow AP points are gained (ive only played the iOS PR)

I am going to say this straight out! If they wanted the newer versions of the first 3 final fantasy games they should've left the post games and I didn't like that they took out a part of a cutscenes in the beginning after that battle you get defeated. I love having the games on the go.
Was this only being sold exclusively through the Square Enix Store? Because retailers don't seem to have this game listed on their sites at all. Target, Game Stop, Best Buy, etc. I hope this didn't get the Metroid Prime: Remastered treatment, where the physical copies were sold out immediately or just never made it to store shelves.

I'm really enjoying them. The only one I played before was 1, I beat it on my blackberry phone like 13 years ago. I played it as a kid too but I never got far lol.
I started early yesterday and couldn't stop. I beat ff1 and am on ff2 now. I didn't like 2 at first because of the whole weird skill level system but now I'm really enjoying it.
I liked these my only complaint was the screen stuttering they would never fix but they have smoothness on their hd2d games doesn't make since except laziness.
Looks amazing on my 70' TV with surround sound with Ps5. Will double dip on Switch versions I-III since I have the NES joy cons. But only when they go on discount. Overall very pleased.

I just bought four and six in my only complaint is that you're no longer able to change the colors of your in-game menus especially in final fantasy 6 I really miss that feature and I don't recall ever anybody complaining about it so I don't know why the fuck they removed it, that's just stupid...

Super happy to see these come to console. 6 is the goat, 4 is really good, and I have a soft spot for 3.

Yes. They added a "Classic" font option.
FF3 is the same as FF1 tbh. But instead of Chaos you got the Cloud of Darkness. But the idea was the same. 4 warriors of light going around getting the crystals.
I played the DS remake and i really liked it more than the classic version.
As i recall FF3 was supposed to be FF1, but better, which it was.
Also, it introduced the Crystal tower, a classic of the series.
Is there any difference between buying them separately and as a bundle? I mean, apart from the price. Are they contained in the same program with a cool menu or just simply downloaded separately?

I get that It's 6 games, but listen. These games are 30 years old. Maybe It's time to consider a price drop, with games that's older than i am. That's my opinion on this.

The DS version of IV was my first final fantasy lol I’m excited to play through IV with the pixel edition but that version will always be memorable
My question is where is Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions?
My first final fantasy game was final fantasy 15 and I couldn't really get into so i dropped it and then tried final fantasy 10 remastered and it didn't really interest me, i plan to try those games again at some point, but right now I'm playing final fantasy 1 and I am really loving it so far
I’d suggest playing final fantasy 7 and then FF9 and then FF8 out of of the newer games those are amazing quality and very different in terms of gameplay then warming up to the double digit games will be easier lol still kinda hard to like some of them tho
As someone who owns all the FF games on GBA/DS/PSP, should I bother with this?
I never finished FF 3-6, and I'm pretty set to play FF3 on the DS, but should I just avoid this and play FF4 on my PSP and FF5/6 on my Gameboy Player?
Really disappointed that this version doesn't have the additional content, but I hear mixed opinions on which version to play.
Any advice would be appreciated. Right now I am thinking FFV on Switch and the rest on GBA/DS/PSP.
I've never had the opportunity to play the old games, I have the opportunity to play it in emulators, however, since the switch had turned in one of my favorite consoles I prefer to buy this in 2024

Square is crazy with how much they are charging for these "remasters". They are charging $15.99 each CAD ($18.38 with tax) for FFI, FFII & FFIII, and from FFIV-FFVI they are charging $23.99 CAD ($27.58 with tax) or if you want the bundle its $99.99 ($114.98) for a collection of NES/SNES games. its really ridiculous.
I would understand the price if that was physical copy. But they made physical limited and charge 100$ for digital games. Ridiculous.
How limited of a run is this? I just picked it up for our PS5 but I'm debating on leaving it sealed and just buying the ones I want to play again.
Addendum- I grew up with Final Fantasy. I fell in love with the series when FFVVI released on the Snes. Before that, I was all about Phantasy Star II, IV, Lunar Silverstar Story, Lunar Eternal Blue, ect... then there was Chronotrigger.
It's not that limited however the anniversary edition will be worth a lot in the future.
Pixel remasters are cool and all, but I'm still pissed that they did an HD-2D remake of Live A Live and Dragon Quest 3 but not Final Fantasy VI, damn you Square.
PSN store has all of em on single releases 11.99/17.99 but not the all 6 bundle maybe some time later today it will have it thats the one i want.
Add them all to the cart and then it’ll give you an option to buy the bundle! I ran into that myself this morning. I hope you see this before you buy all of them separately!

@@thewise_1one856 They are but the bundle is hidden, at least on the PS5. The bundle won’t come up unless you add all of them individually to your cart and then it will suggest the bundle. If you tried searching for the bundle it would not come up.

I'm a fan of final fantasy and I just saw the bundle for the first 6 games but I have 2 problems with it the first being the price 75 dollars plus tax is really high and the 2nd is that I've never played any of the first 6 so I'm wondering if it's worth it to get it

Any FF in this series is great, Final Fantasy should return with the battle system of FFIV, Final Fantasy at his best, I pay for the 6 of them in a package. I think it's my best purchase for a very long time

PR for 3, 3D remake for 4 (except it has the shitty DS soundtrack so it’s best played on PC with the OST modded with the SNES or PR soundtracks).

i wouldn't get it, you are being robbed at that price. in canada for example its $99.99. for a collection of NES/SNES games. i was able to buy these games cheaper on the PSP and DS.

What's the deal with the hidden path being shown when you were walking through it? is that new?
If you mean in FF5, I seem to remember it's an item that you can use/equip that gives you the ability to see the hidden pathways.
However the Pixel version of FF6 ADDED those into the game making easier to get South Figaro's Ribbon during Locke's Scenario of the 3 for FF5 you still need that 1 Thief Class skill equipped first.
FF4 has very few of those hidden paths but are also added into this version of the game.
Did they fix the butchered difficulties for the Pixel Remasters?
They did make it a little easier, but it’s not that much easier than the originals
You can adjust it to be easier or harder. You can even do level 1 playthroughs
You can literally customise your difficulty through changing the boost multipliers for EXP and Gil you earn from battle. So if you wanna make it harder you can set it to half EXP and Gil (0.5x) or even set it to 0 EXP and Gil (0x). These can be changed at any point in the game.
The font, modern or classic is far too small especially on a switch lite 😕

There is a easy fix to the Font issue and need nor other downloads. just take the Japanese/english font and replace them

I really want that XP/JP/Currency thing and pixel font. I loved increasing and disabling random encounters in Bravely Default/Second. Wish Octopath had this smh

The ideal platform for Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is Nintendo Switch. It’s the most energy efficient platform.

My personal order from favorite to least favorite is.
FF6 > FF5 > FF4 > FF1 > FF2 > FF3
The "new" classic font looks just as awful as the old one, they're just poorly integrated into the games, small, thin, with a different resolution that instantly clashes with the game's pixelated visuals.
Yeah. Hate to nitpick about it, but I do wish the the classic style font more resembled what the original games had.
Core games are great. Miss some of the extra content on previous rereleases.
Agree, some are as simple as exrra fights for FF1 and 6, while others have had whole campaigns like 2, hopefully well see DLC for it?
@@jccdsym6605 Extra fights in FF1 was anything but simple. Recycled dungeons with recycled future bosses where you have to go through multiple times. Several puzzle dungeons with several variation of the same boss. All these were pain in the ass for 100% bestiary and not even worth it.
@@zeroskaterz92 I don't feel like the Dawn of Souls dungeons were that bad, but also not good either, the train boss didn't even move, the cameo bosses where not that great. I agree that the payoff for it was really lackluster, a boring extra boss for the PSP version and that's it.
FF2' whole campain with Minwu and Co. And FF4's lunar content and chance to take other party members to the final fight offer much more.
I'm a bit pissed that I can't get a physical PS4 version. I don't really want to be buying these digital.

The fact that these aren't on The Xbox is absolutely unacceptable. That being said the only game I wouod bother with is FF 6. These are far from complete packages. FF 1,2,3 and 4 are all far better on the PSP. Having played 5 on the GBA last year,after I originally played it on the PS1 back in the day,I couldn't stand the game and quit halfway thru. But for people who like that game there is still content on the GBA game that isn't in this collection,same with 6. Also $75 for the games,or $100 of bought separately,is a little much. The fact that the physical version was made in such small amounts is also a bit of a letdown. Overall it's good but it could have been far better especially if they went the extra mile and included the DS version of FF 4. I'll wait for a sale.

From the sound of things, they are in the process of working on it. :) The beta/depots have shown numerous updates in the last several days on SteamDB. The log for FF6 actually changed twice yesterday. I'm twitching in my seat!

I think that the people who complain about the missing GBA dungeons didn't even play them.
Those dungeons were mostly just padding and grind fests that weren't very fun to play. They were 'challenges' in a very generous sense of the term, but it's not like you're missing out on very good content by their exclusion.
Souls of Rebirth added depth to the story without feeling like a grind fest. It was a fun experience
I thoroughly enjoyed the extra content on Final Fantasy 6. I can't speak for all of the others.

Totally agree. Those dungeons are just extra boring and unnecessary content.
It’s not so much the dungeons but the super bosses that are the lose. Omega weapon and Kaiser dragon were the ultimate challenge in FF6 and not having them is disappointing.
Love this, but sad that Xbox once again is getting punched in the nuts by Square Enix.
The price tag on these games are just insane for how old they are even if they are remastered..
