Great tip about sweet potatoes for cravings. I'll have to try that! I eat them a lot, but I haven't reached for them for cravings.
I eat too much starches
If I want to lose weight I have to go nutritarian.
I tried if I do 50/50 plate 4 cups of rice and 4 cups of cucumber for lunch. 1 cup of oats 1 cup of cauliflower rice 2 bananas 1 tbsp maple syrup. And for dinner 6 cups of roast sweet potatoes 6 cups of lettuce.
Some day an apple
Well with this kind of eating I gained weight
I read the starch solution and the maximum weight loss.
I'm able to loss weight under 1400 cal.
Are you actually eating 4 cups of rice and 4 cups of cucumbers as well as 6 cups of sweet potatoes and 6 cups of lettuce not to mention the oats, cauliflower and bananas??!! I’ve never heard of anyone who could eat that volume in a day.

Thank you! What do you recommend to put on your starches that doesn’t include fat. I’m guilty of eating too much hummus.
Hummus is not a problem if it doesn’t have oil or tahini. I eat mashed potatoes with steamed broccoli or sautéed spinach with onion, garlic, peppers, mushrooms, or with corn or with steamed zucchini. There are all sort of things you can eat it with.
@@plantemus thank you for replying! I love hummus, but homemade doesn’t taste as good as the store-bought with oil. Lol
Well, there are ways to make it taste pretty close to store bought hummus. I will talk about this in my next video.
It gets very confusing. Some people push more leafy greens, lots of salads, others push the starches like potatoes, brown rice, etc. I feel like I can’t fit it all into my day and wonder if I’m missing something. Thanks for this video.
People like to complicate simple things. It’s human nature. The Starch Solution works but it is based on starches. Saladas and greens are wonderful but they are not the main focus of The Starch Solution. Maybe read the book one more time to refresh your memory of the basics. I will do another video soon.

Eat fewer starches for more weight loss
Eating fewer starches can be dangerous because starches are filling and if we don’t eat enough, we will start having cravings. The question is how much exactly. Dr. McDougall says your plate should be 70-80% starch.

I don’t know how starches could cause you to hold water unless you are consuming too much sodium. How do you follow The Starch Solution? Have you read the book. Have you attended any programs in person or online?
@@plantemus I am not overweight, never ear salt and am otherwise very healthy, it's just that I hold water weight. Maybe I just eat too many carbs for my size🤷♀️
And yes I have owned the starch solution for many years, I watch all the dr McDougall stuff on youtube

Why is it that when I eat white potatoes my blood sugar goes up.
Because it’s supposed to do that. Dr. McDougall explains this in one of the videos . Dr. Barnard explains it in his book Reversing Diabetes.

I can’t have a clean environment my family won’t change they’re eating.
That’s a tough one but not impossible. Dr. Lisle and I did a webinar about what to do when family is not on board. It’s on this UA-cam channel.
@@plantemus what happens if having a different shelf in the fridge, causes friction, same with cupboards!! Some people are more difficult to deal with!!

I do have a concern about the starches: how much can I eat ? I'm always woried that I'm having too much potatoes by example.
Also, it seam that oats make my belly round as a bean: and I do not like that.

It is virtually impossible to eat “too much” starch or “too many” potatoes and gain weight or experience bloating but I will address your question in my next live UA-cam. Thanks for the question. It’s a really good one.
I had my timer set to watch you on Chef AJ for your potato recipe. I could not find that anywhere. I have both of you on subscription but no live broadcast with you came on either channel. What did I do incorrectly.?

You mean on the mashed potatoes? I eat mashed potatoes with steamed broccoli with balsamic vinegar or everything bagel mix or I eat them with corn on the cob or with mi spinach mixture with sautéed onions and garlic. There are hundreds of things I eat them with.
