Car Audio System Design: Make It Count!

  • Many of today's vehicles come with pretty nice OEM audio systems. They use some crafty techniques to make the best system they can, so how can we expect to improve on it?
    I've installed countless audio systems over the years, and it's been a process of continuous growth that never ends. This video shows an example of a Ford Raptor getting a full system installed, replacing the Bang & Olufsen system. I explain the key elements I consider when designing a system like this as I move through the project.

    Excellent presentation! Entertaining, informative and clear narration! My new go-to for audio info!! However, In my opinion, you made the job of upholstering the speaker box much harder for yourself than it has to be.
    ( Reason I say that is because I used to install headliners, sunroofs, reconfigure overhead consoles, and re -upholster the interior to look factory installed, ( including some audio enclosures as well ). So while I don't have your skill level , or knowledge by any means , the wrapping was the only part that stood out to me . Just subscribed ! Kudos!!

    I own and operate Car Audio, Radio, & Security in Charleston.....without sounding like a creepy person, I’ve followed you for a while especially when you owned your own place. You’re amazing at what you do and are one of the reasons why we strive to be better at what we do! Thanks for the awesome video and if you’re ever in Charleston SC hit me up! Drinks on me!!

    Excellent Fabrication Walk thru. This should be the benchmark for all 12v Installation videos. I know it's time consuming, however this would likely lead to installer of the year. Keep up the good work. Hope to see more videos from you in this format. Well documented.

    Awesome work, Dan. From the actual install, the video and everything else that came along with it. I’ll be sharing with my work mates to inform them better of what we try and do here.
    And the “take the long way home” motto, perfect! 👌

    I'm pretty new to the car audio scene but I have jumped head first into it. Your videos really explain things and show alot of hands on which is very helpful in my steep learning curve.
    Keep up the good work and the videos!

    also for using the RTA everyone has a preferred method but I suggest do sweeps on each driver (go to measure tab in Rew) instead of using live RTA in Rew, and then use pink noise, you can get much more accurate results.

    Was that expanded PVC you used for the amp rack, or something else? Another option I've found for grounding in these trucks is to ground to the frame beneath the cab and adding a ground from the battery to the frame. I've measured it with my Fluke DMM and it usually comes out at 0ohms-0.1ohms. Easier to fit in under the sill panels, and saves a lot of expensive copper wire.

    • @SoundscapeCarAudio1
      @SoundscapeCarAudio1  3 роки тому

      Yes, expanded pvc! That sounds like a reasonable alternative, thanks😉

    you should have sealed the whole where you passed through the cable for sub or used a terminal at least, might not seem like much but defeats the whole purpose of sealed box.
    great job in total.

    Very nice setup
    Only one query,
    Mosconi amp which was used is approx 70w for channel 1 and 2 at 4 ohms, is this power good enough to drive Morels which has 6ohm and 130W rms requirement

    Video was awesome. I especially liked the last bit about feeling some kind of way about your system. I recently went to very well known youtube famous shop and had them go through the car. Went with a bit of a mix of things, pioneer, morel, audio dynamics, b2 audio. All these were picked based on my budget. Nice equipment and nice install. But their tune sounds rushed and kinda meh. And it certainly doesn't make me wanna go the long way home. And that sucks since I love to drive, hence the audio upgrade!

    • @SoundscapeCarAudio1
      @SoundscapeCarAudio1  3 роки тому +1

      I understand how you feel, David! Sometimes I build a vehicle for a client and they feel differently about the sound later. I always leave an open invitation to do a fine tune in the future. If you haven't already, see if they will do this for you. We are trying to make it sound good to your ears and sometimes we just hear differently or expect something different. I hope you get it set up, right my friend!
