- Hi loves! Today I am opening up about my spirituality and journey back to Islam, heavily inpsired by Palestinians. The strong faith and resilience of Palestinians really inspired me to reflect on my own journey in my faith of Islam. I was struggling with low imaan, overconsumption, and my journey to modesty. Over the last few 80 days of the genocide, I have watched the incredible strength and resilience of the Palestinians and their unwavering trust in Allah, and they truly inspired me to reflect on myself and my beliefs. I have many struggles and flaws in my character and my imaan but I hope to work on them and improve to become a better Muslim. If the people of Palestine have taught us anything, it is to keep going no matter how low we fall. May allah guide us all to the straight path and free the oppressed ameen.

It is the Palestine oppression that brought me back to my faith as well. El humdelillah. Palestinians have immensely impacted me because now I take everything I have even if I have something that irritates me, I say Alhamdulillah. Yes I said Alhamdulilah before too but even the most basic hard things that are hard to get such as clean air? Alhamdulillah! Such as having clean carpets and flooring? I haven’t even started your video but I want you to know your energy confidence and style help me. I know you are more than your beauty but how you carry yourself gives me so much hope. I am slowly transitioning into modesty and discharging old clothes. I was not born into a Muslim family and plan on reverting to Islam this Ramadan so I’m of worldly ways at the moment. I can’t shake the western beauty and judgment of completely changing inshallah may god guide me and give me that strength. But way you make the hijab look and fashion incorporate into your style your self expression and the way you carry yourself inspires me. It’s like a woman I can see myself being as weird as that sounds. I haven’t started your videos yet you’ve just popped up on my UA-cam shorts with your outfits I look forward to listening and learning more about you.
Okay so I finished the video and don’t ever feel the need to push more fashion either if you swap the same 10 shirts and pants over and over and just use them in diff ways that would be so helpful honestly because that’s where I’m at in the first place so don’t ever feel that pressure. :)

I can't believe I was so clueless about this situation before. Now it's all I can think about every minute of the day for the last two and half months. I know not all Palestinians are Muslim but it makes me want to learn more about Islam in general also. I wish I had a Muslim friend irl to learn more from.

Alhamdulilah. This is exactly the conversations we as western Muslims need to have with ourselves. It is wonderful to see someone with so many followers talk about modest, over-consumption, sadaqah, iman, quran, and salat. These are part of jihad for western Muslim.
About a year ago I moved and saw all the stuff I was holding on to, especially things from before I was Muslim, like Christmas decorations that have been in boxes for nearly a decade while I was living outside the US. Instead of trashing or donating all to Goodwill, I found ways to sell things. I used Mercari, Depop, Poshmark, ThredUp, eBay, Facebook marketplace, local antiques stores, used book stores, and companies that buy old toys (my parents held onto my old Barbies and Polly Pockets). As the money slowly came in I found charities to give it too.
Suddenly I felt light and had more space in my home; space to study quran and arabic with my family, space to have friends stay for dinner and salat, space to execise in the privacy of my home.
Alhamdulilah this jihad will help us inside and out, our planet, and our neighbors. Thank you so much for sharing sister.

I think for me my desire to consume less has also been driven by a love for the Earth. And recognizing that humans aren't the only sacred life that lives herd. And that doing my best to make more enviormentally conscious buying choices is an act of worship because I not only want humans to be free of pain and suffering but also animals. I've found that since I've fallen deeper in love with God, I recognize that anything can be an act of worship. And that living mindfully and compassionately has driven me to decide to be fully vegetarian starting this next week. Because I can't justify another animals live being ended simply to feed me. As far as Palestine, just like the resolve of the Yemeni people who faced horrifying humanitarian conditions due to Saudi bombing, I am humbled by their resolve to try to live the best that they can in the midst of the war crimes that continue to occur. But ya, the f-ed up stuff over there has helped me recognize how privileged I am. And it's really pushed me to try to be more mindful of the little bit I can do to do what my therapist calls, my love practice. Which is doing the best I can to show love and kindness to everyone. Because the same sacred light that eternally exists and resides in me, resides in everyone else. And if I am willing to stop and being mindful, I might be able in some small way to make life a little less painful for those around me. I do very much appreciate your humble way of sharing your struggles, though. It's a refreshing change from the status quo of a lot of people when they share about their faith and it feels really cringe and pompous.

You know what, I haven't even watched this video, (yet), but I have to say, I respect and admire you making this video so much. I am a white woman living in America and after having a failed relationship with an Armenian, have really clung to Islam. However, just recently, I've been frustratedly thinking about how the sources of Islam I am turning to are most likely Americanized versions of the Muslim world. Of course, I would probably only hope to aspire to practice an Americanized version of Islam, myself. But I've been wrestling with the idea that I've kind of been cheating myself into some kind of pseudo ideology by turning to different kinds of recreations of Islam (Westernized versions of Islam). I saw the thumbnail of this video and kind of shook my head at you, as if you were just looking for attention and being somehow impure of intention. But then I sat with these thoughts and now I'm thinking there's some kind of catch 22, double standard with the whole community of Islam on social media and that, for you to be actually, in some way, shape or form, acknowledging your intentions and your motives was actually, considerably, far more genuine of you than for you to sit and preach and brag about your faith. It's one thing to share your beliefs but then I think it's important to acknowledge how and where and why those beliefs are being shared. Also, personally debating finding a mosque in America and have been so frustrated with this idea of it being all for nothing because all I could possibly get would be "fake Muslims." Which would be nice, in a way, because I would most likely only be that too. But... Anyway, much love and blessings!!!

Im obviously not a scholar, but Islam doesn't encourage us to imitate the how non believers sin (even though there's no wine in those wine glasses).
Muslims are meant to have their own lifestyle. Of course we can drink non alcholic wine, but our appearence shouldn't resemble how non believers sin.

Can I suggest that you also don't wear fake nails/nail polish. It's all this little things that we do even when it's not really permissible for us, that adds up and affect our faith.
No one is perfect in deen but just being mindful and making the sincere intention to do better is a step in the right direction
