Ever since I started watching your videos I have been noticing more septic trucks around my neighborhood and I always say hi to them. Sometimes they honk their horn and it absolutely makes my day!!
Just had risers put on our tank, the guy installing them screwed them down onto the top of our concrete tank. Our concrete lids were all busted up and weren't sealing.
Thanks for the info on the pond and stone. I didn't know that was a thing. That looks like a great solution. Would that help against the penetration of tree roots?
I go through 60ft of double wall corrugated pipe a week installing risers. I mortar them to concrete tanks, screw and seal onto plastic or fiberglass tanks.
I prefer the flat lids. They virtually disappear in the lawn and you can drive right over them on the mower. I've even driven a minivan over them though I try to stay clear of them.
They done something like that to my grandma's only it had some kind of hookup, a red light, and an alarm thing. But after they had installed whatever that was, the shower would over flow along and so would the toilet. They never fixed it. No one lives there now but I never understood how they couldn't fix it.
Risers in my state are mandatory they have to be with in 6” of surface but any tank before 2000 are grandfathered in and don’t need them so I’ve installed a lot of these and the spray foam is the way togo
I’m for zoning and codes across the world to implicate risers above ground access to septic tanks. Digging them up was only due to grand daddy building his tank and the common theory back then was it will never need dug up. Why are we still burying something that needs accessed every year for visual inspection?
This is a cesspit. Only has one access port. They dig a hole straight down and stack up concrete rings then put this round lid on top. I had to offcenter the riser because if I moved the mount center it wouldn’t even be on the tank anymore
@randydarby2340 I would say ideally yeah center it but 100% still serviceable might just be a little tight from the 1 side but definitely doable still
Can I buy four riser extensions? My 7 year-old aerobic system has risers with covers but are super flush with the ground and weeds and grass would grow over them if given the chance. Most other similar systems I’ve seen in my area have the risers at least 3-6 inches above ground level, just protecting them from lawn mowers if nothing else.
Had a family member whose house was on a slope. Had a holding tank outside of the house and pump station that would move the goods up hill where the septic tank and drain field was located.
@@OOOOOO12345 these round lids are tricky. The manhole is supposed to be directly over the inlet baffle (it wasn’t). It was buried about a foot below rock, so we called in the mini excavator to dig it up. These are pretty much a guessing game of trying to find the small 12” access port. Customer was very happy to finally know where their tank was
About as simple of a home DIY as it gets.

I’ve seen it work better than butyl.
He said penetration 😁

I believe those are polylock
Was about to search how to put riser in… no need, now I can just watch more of your content 😆
Why wasn't it centered? I'm sure it doesn't make a difference but still man 😂

I was hoping for a smoothie.
A lady fell into a septic tank in Tampa yesterday and died.
That’s not good. We always put the concrete lids back in or have secondary safety lids
Poor lady, hopefully it was quick

Great stuff pond and stone
You sounded so annoyed about the digging for this one 😂😂
I'm thinking there are 2 lids....are you pumping both sides? Hard to see both inlet and outlet baffles...lol

Why is it off centre?
The edge of the tank was right by the manhole. Centering it would’ve put the mount off the septic tank
@@PoorPumperSociety ah I see
@@PoorPumperSociety even if it wasn't would it still be good to off-center being risen up you can work from an angle and straight up and down?
@randydarby2340 I would say ideally yeah center it but 100% still serviceable might just be a little tight from the 1 side but definitely doable still
Is there a reason why the riser is of center to the lid?
Do you seal in between the riser sections in areas with lots of roots?
Never seen a plastic riser their all concrete around here
So, we actually have rizers and our tank looks to be like an inch in the ground, you used to be able to see them too
what is this job called? seems nasty, but fun at the same time
How much do you charge to install risers?
Only in USA is digging expensive.
Damn why wasn't it in the center. Not a big deal but it bugs me. Lok
If you have to shit do you just squat over the open septic tank?
yes

Make it work. Find a solution. Make your own risers.
@@curlyhairdudeify that won't happen, thanks for the expert advise..
Why werent they built like this orginally seems like such a obvious thing to do why have it buried and have to be dug up to be maintenced
Well I like your video but been using foam for about 15 yrs I would get a foam gun better bag for your buck.
Septic system up on the hill?
Had a family member whose house was on a slope. Had a holding tank outside of the house and pump station that would move the goods up hill where the septic tank and drain field was located.
Why riser and access hole off center? Unga bunga
Ummm... No. Use con-seal along with masonry screws. This is absolutely the wrong way to install a riser.
Why not center it?
Anybody else see the worm on the lid😂
Do you wash your hands after you get the job done
So people dont tapcon risers?
I am the 90 comment
He put it off center to get comments
why u hate cesspool so much bro?
This is not the proper way to install a tuf-tite riser.
I would not be proud of that installation.
Why?
Sealed and flush to the surface. If you have any pointers I would love to hear them to make future installs better
