Survival On Purpose Well, spread the word about Alfie, because all the prepper/bushcraft channels on UA-cam need to take editing classes from him. Short, concise videos will get thousands more views than long-winded improv vids.

This was great even in warm weather. Using soggy wood found along a river was no problem with this arrangement. A few minutes of preparation resulted in a fire that burned all evening with very little maintenance.

I love the upside down fire concept, but as you say it's not going to be easy to boil water and cook food on one! I guess in a camping situation you'd be better off quickly lighting a small fire for cooking, maybe a Dakota fire pit? And then whilst it dies down creating embers to cook on you build the upside down fire to keep you warm through the night :)

OK, a few things, if you rub dirt between the wood, it will burn hotter and longer. I would further suggest that you break your wood between trees that are close together to avoid injuries to eyes and other areas. For your consideration.
