28:40 😂 😁 This is why you watch uncle Bjorn's videos, there is always something that will make you smile or laugh. Funny thing is there was a blue sign right in front of them telling them where they should go haha, indeed they got Ninja :D
It is cold and rainy in Southern California. Perfect day to stay home and put beautiful snowy, icy images of Norway on my big screen TV. Great videos. Love your channel. Greetings from LA.
Makes me wonder what the average ICE driver would think while watching this. Something like 'what a faff those EV drivers have to go through.' But really BN is just giving us every detail he can about charging and glossing over the driving part, a bit. Good video BN.👍
I might not be average, :-), but I am an ICE driver and what I'm thinking is: where does all the money come from? My car is worth less than a replacement leaf battery - how am I going to justify even the cheapest EV? The savings don't add up and your chances of ending up with a vehicle whose value drops to 0 (e.g. battery becomes obsolete or impossibly expensive to replace) make savings seem very uncertain. I am also thinking that I wish Honda would make a really good electric Jazz because I love that car.
@@timmurphy5541 They're making Urban EV. And you're doing yourself a disservice by thinking that way, ICE cars fail more often and the battery on the current cars we have will last. With time, the $/kWh will drop (at the moment it's around $100 per kwh so a 35 kwh leaf battery will cost you $3500 to replace and you're good to go).
I have been waiting for the Kona road trip video! :D Hope, the part where everyone got Ninja after getting off the ferry is included lol. Gonna watch this at dinner time.
I wish one day he would stop at a roadside restaurant and order a meal typical of a restaurant offering and deswcribe it. I like the guy as I find him to be entertaining.
You should do a video on battery heaters who does what and how it is connected to the cooling system if at all. More video ideas would be on using different tires on the same vehicle, studded snow, non studded snow, summer tires, low roll resistance, and different tire sizes (total diameter vs just rim size). Aero hub caps vs spokes vs other rim types.
EVs are progressing nicely, like the quite ride and fun torque, but charging times are still little drag. It's getting better though... I'm from central Europe, i wish i can see beautiful Norway mountains and do more traveling. Just came from Lake Tahoe through hwy 80, that was nice too and Yosemite about half year ago, but Norway, Alaska, Yukon offers other level of scenery
Great run Bjørn. You should put up Google Maps links for some of the routes you take. Would be easy for others to go on the same routes if wanting to. I'd sure like to go on some of these trips when I get my EV next year.
Probably if you drive in ECO-Mode then the Active TMS not heats the battery, no matter of "winter mode" = on or off Set "Comfort Mode" and "Winder Mode = ON" in cold days .... Needing more tests to make this sure.
Well at least I got to see myself on the streaming phone. Love the scenery. Never gets old. I found out how substandard the stock Michelin all-season tires are in snow on the 3 :( They could be a lot better
Hi Bjørn. Can you please put some basic data in description, like: Car | Battery | Power | Trip Distance | Total time | Charging time | Miscellaneous time | .... or you could introduce scoring system "Bjørn score". And please include food score..
Love the scenery, reminded me of my trip from England to Olden, Geiranger, Flam and Bergen. Those chargers need some security. What is it to stop someone taking your charger when you walk away for an hour or pressing stop like that women's charger just for giggles. Can see it happening over here in the future.
Cables lock into the car until the car is unlocked. Even if someone were to manage to stop the charging session, the cable cannot be removed until the car itself is unlocked. Many chargers need the app and or payment/RFID card to be tapped before the session can be stopped using the stop button too.
Seriously, those problems handling extreme hot or cold with Leaf and Kona don't help at popularizing EVs :-( I am disappointed. Though maybe Hyundai can fine tune the BMS with a software update.
I've seen this roadtrip and the ones you did with de Kia e-niro. They are very close, but which one would you choose for longer trips and which one would you choose for daily use? Is the Kona practical enough with that console?
Awesome country you have there! Also, really admire your passion you put into making these vlogs! Thank you! What is the platform you are streaming on? And what is the app you use on mobile to see battery data from the EV? Hello from Romania!
Uncle Bjørn, thank you for sleeping, driving, streaming in this kona car, just for us to come along and enjoy the scence and learn from your experience..
I'm in Canada and I'm getting delivery of my Kona EV next month. I'm shoping for Winter Tire and I was wondering how did you like those Nokian? I'm hesitating between Nokian Haka R3 and Toyo Observe GSi-5
Only to an extent, nothing electronic really likes the cold. Cold temperatures change the resistance of many metals, which often leads electronics to think there's a fault. Plus the heat generating nature of a charger means condensation and frosting are also possible at below freezing temperatures.
When I drove the ICE Kona I had huge hassles with buckling up every time I entered the car, because the seal belt hatch was squeezed between the seat and the center console, and couldn't be raised in any manner. It was especially problematic for short distances and I didn't want to remove my coat. Is that also an issue with the electric counterpart?
He really likes Kona. His expressions shows us how much he like Kona.
Its just a great car ;)
awesome Bjorn. You have some interesting videos that is is a bit different than other reviewers
@@paulvadeanu246 haha sure.

good music and shots, make really nice overall effect especially when you drive on these lonely snowy roads
Bjorn, thank you for being an EV enthusiast but also for showing your beautiful Norway 🇳🇴!
Wow, this scenery is spectacular. Norway is a beautiful country!
Norwegian customer service. Same as in France telling you to call some number for money back.
Great music Bjørn! Fits to the mysterious landscape like a hand in a glove!🎻🎼🎧

He's thinking: "I wish I could take a holiday in Norway" and "I wish I could afford a new EV like that Kona".
The average “ICE driver” doesn’t watch these videos.
@@Henriburger1 Sadly. That's probably true

Funny watching this from a balmy, sunny New Zealand. Great pace and commentary as ever. Thanks.

+Tech Guy Charlie Yes, I included that part :)
Norway is so beautiful to drive through
Norway looks expensive and cold, but their petrol stations have nice burgers!
You are a good vlogger Bjorn.
The next project should be "Bjørn Nyland Eats" where you review the burgers across the highways ;-)
Alain Van Driessche

Best review bit ever: "Kona doesn't seem to be the best car for cooking noodles and shit..." Made me actually LOL.
Glad it wasn't only me!
Came for the car information... stayed for the Norwegian scenery! I didn't know the Kona had that utility mode, that seems very useful.
these road videos made me want a tesla /ev so bad.. lovely. Now I have mine and I do love road trips. I do a lot of them for my work in my tesla
The scenery is absolutely spectacular! Very relaxing review, more down to earth and relatable. Liked the Kona info very much.
Showing off winter wonder land Norway. Thank you Bjørn :)
Great! Another video.
Keep 'em coming!
first second of the video viewed and YES! the old roadtripsound is back! I love it 😎
Kona charges faster than ipace
beautiful at 9:30 and 12:36
Great musics, thanks!!
This was a great road trip video and music
Anyone know the music track?
Edit:
Found it: Yule by Ian Post

Leaf hotgate and Kona coldgate. Why don't Norway get all the Leafs and leave the Konas for warm Spain? ;-) LOL.
Hello from russia Bjorn!) Great views! I've done a roadtrip over there too :)
Nice view of the mountains!!

Prom, did you ever figure out if this is true?
Looks so much like British Columbia, without a few road features I wouldn't notice a difference.
Those Goldilocks batteries are quite fussy about temperatures; too bad. Maybe someday...
Just like buffalo going over a cliff for the ferry unloading. Except for Bjorn who is a ninja.

MAX burger is pretty great. The "crispy no chicken" is the best vegetarian burger I ever ate.
haha, in germany, there is a proivider that has a roaming agreement with ionity, and we can charge at ionity for 2 eurocents per minute
Since the winter tires seem to come up repeatedly in the videos, here is where the name comes from ;)

Yes, test the Ionity HPC on I-Pace and every other EV you can get into your hands.
I love you dude. Greetings from Turkey :)
wonder how Model 3 will do on IONITY. have seen 111kW at 18% SoC during -20°Celsius in the US.

the second on a site that shows GPS says to trust the speed of the GPS because the odometer of the kona is not good.

This is another comment on how beautiful Norway is. How to migrate there? hmmm..

Your the man Bjorn!
Hello; I have two questions for you, the heat pump supplied by extreme cold
With both Kona and iPace charging at the same slow rate, could the problem be that the chargers are cold and self limiting?
Chargers (unlike batteries) like being cold. I mean, don't they?
Only to an extent, nothing electronic really likes the cold. Cold temperatures change the resistance of many metals, which often leads electronics to think there's a fault. Plus the heat generating nature of a charger means condensation and frosting are also possible at below freezing temperatures.

I drove one in my winter coat yesterday (in Toronto) and buckling in seemed easy enough.
Did you drive using snow tires? How much was your km reduced using snow tires?
After the ninja, the cow boy ^^
Bjørn, You need to come one time to Grønn kontakt in Skien centrum and go get burger in Bulglar its the best burger i ever tried ;D
Was the heating system any better or more efficient on this car than any other ? Or about the same?
Was "winter mode" engaged during this trip? Obscure little setting...
