Great work! Your enthusiasm and sharing of knowledge has me thinking I can do this too. I'm going to start my own patch. Thanks

I am enjoying your series very much. I too live in Cleveland so your video is so helpful for a first year raspberry grower.

I'm really enjoying your raspberry series! Looking forward to your compilation that goes into pruning and care, etc. I enjoyed the updates and learning about the varieties. I think Taylor and Fall Gold will be the ones I get to plant. I've eaten the Fall Gold before and think they are delicious!

Thanks for the update. I bookmarked this as your explanation of the varieties was excellent. Will be re watching this video when I decide my varieties to order in the spring. Look forward to seeing your future compilation video.

when you planted you didn't use any type of mesh to keep weeds from taking over. how do you keep the weeds out?

+Trophy 205 good eye. Overall, I pick by hand regularly. They don't recommend mulch for raspberries but I'm testing out a very light mulching outside the row. Please note, Nothing was used within the 12" wide row because it could cause a number of disease issues, like root rot, from excessive moisture. I'm being especially careful with the mulch by keeping it to a light coating (1/2") but even that greatly reduces weeds.

+mugs132 I figured you pulled them, I'm envious of your commitment and effort. they're beautiful. Thanks for the quick reply

Also, you can't use landscape fabric because the raspberries send up new canes from the underground root system every year....fabrics would hinder that greatly.

    Hi
Thanks for the motivational videos on berry plantings. I had a question on something I heard before about planting berries. I learn des you can't mix berries in the same area. How did you get so many to grow in one area?

Opinions vary on mixing varieties, some suppliers say black raspberries should be kept away from other raspberry varieties. But others say it doesn't matter. Now, maybe over time some varieties will prove stronger and overtake other varieties. But I believe mine are successful because 1. They were planted at the same time, and 2. Three bare roots were planted for each variety.

I would love to learn to propagate raspberries from cuttings. (not the kind where you root the tips in a pot) I havn't had much luck in my research. do you have any ideas?

Not sure of the exact process, but bare roots are really cheap, mine only cost about $3.50 -4.75 each. Check out Indiana berry because the sell just one, whereas nourse and stark have you buy 3-5 at a clip.
