- Mayara Magri as Mitzi, and Marcelino Sambé, Reece Clarke, Tomas Mock and Calvin Richardson as Four Hungarian Officers, and Steven McRae as Crown Prince Rudolf. Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling was filmed and screened live in cinemas on 15 October 2018. Find out more at www.roh.org.uk/productions/ma...
Mayerling is based on the true story of the deaths of Crown Prince Rudolf and his teenage mistress Mary Vetsera in 1889. This dark and intense ballet was created for The Royal Ballet in 1978 and is regarded by many as among Kenneth MacMillan's finest works. Orchestrated and arranged by John Lanchbery, the music of Franz Liszt sweeps the story to its intense conclusion, and sumptuous designs by Nicholas Georgiadis bring to life the formal, oppressive world of the Austro-Hungarian court.
The large-scale crowd and court scenes show the whole Company off at its dramatic finest. But it is MacMillan's choreography for Rudolf, one of the most technically and emotionally demanding roles in the repertory for male dancers, that makes this ballet so iconic. Rudolf's emotional decline is charted through daring and visceral pas de deux with his mother, his wife and Mary Vetsera - choreography that pushes classical ballet to its limits. - Розваги

Mayara Magri, 2011 Prix de Lausanne winner. Amazing dancer, makes us brazilian very proud.
She just gets better and better! 🇧🇷❤️
The role of Mitzi Caspar had never impressed me before. But Mayara! She's really got it, she's got everything it takes to become a Principal.
Wow, Magri’s technical expertise is really showing through! What control! Amazing!
this is so different from everything I have ever seen... I LOVE IT! McRae and Magri how not to fall for them? ❤
She will be the next great star of the RB. She just has that something special about her.
Mayara finally getting the recognition she deserves!!!!!
Some guys are getting lapdances in the back. That must have been fun to rehearse.
The crazy amount of stamina it takes this part! Mayara is awesome. Also, it's lovely to see her in solo and principal roles nowadays, maybe one day she'll dance the main role in this :)
I do hope that you will release this production on DVD . Watched it in person at ROH on the 15th and the cinema repeat yesterday. The cinema screening really captured the intensity of the performance. Well done to all concerned
I wish they would show more clips from Mayerling!!! I think that ballet is wonderful!
The choreography in this ballet is beyond compare, and these dancers are really showcasing the symbolism in each dance to its best advantage. For example, here the rapid changing of partners is telling the audience that Mitzi Caspar is a prostitute, not just an actress, and Magri is conveying a real sense of ease and gaiety with her precision and gorgeous pirouettes. She looks almost weightless as she dances, which shows incredible skill. I’m definitely going to buy the full ballet recording.
I saw this ballet for the first time in my life on the 15th October and this was one of my favourite scenes. ❤❤❤
Beautiful Mayara!!! Awsome performance!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Magri is superb in these part!🥰😘💐

Wow this was impressive! Amazing choreography and performance from Mayara. Brava!
I have been watching this at least twice a day!
The Royal Opera House is the best!!! ❤ I have a total of 3 DVDs from them - 2 ballets and 1 opera (I highly recommend "Romeo and Juliet" 2012 with Lauren Cuthbertson, Federico Bonelli and Alexander Campbell & "La Boheme" 2017 with Nicole Car, Michael Fabiano, Mariusz Kwiecien and Simona Mihai)
Mayara linda sempre dando orgulho para nós brasileiros! Arrasaram! 👏👏👏
To much beauty for my eyes
So many lifts! Love it
Please post more clips from Mayerling ❤
Sidenote: I want to know what happens after with Mayara and Steven! 😂
It looks sort of inspired by the rose adagio, but much more alive.
Rose adagio on steroids.
Well, Mitzi Kaspar was an “actress”, as they euphemistically described her by her official job in that era. So it’s Rose Adagio but with the implication that she’s slept with all of them embedded within the choreography. The innuendo in this ballet’s choreography is very clearly there in so many scenes if you know the story, and it doesn’t lessen the ballet’s artistry but rather enhances it. I love watching Mayerling.
@@garotadagavea Not as innocent as Rose Adagio
It’s amazing

The Main opposition to this ballet and several of Macmillans ballets at the time was he didnt hide the sexual side of the stories away. Lets face it many Royal courts at this time and period Had its Mistresses and Courtesans(high Class Prostitutes) Franz Josef had a long term Mistress Catherine Schratt So did Edward V11 Tsar Nicholas the Second Rudolph had Mitzi Caspar and several others These were often hidden away or tolerated . But rarely spoke about out of Court circles Macmillan told it as it was and because he showed the Sexuality in Dance we are dealing with the 1970s People were outraged especially the Royal Opera House. Only now in a more free thinking and tolerant society can his True Genius be realized.
