Candy inspired me to the beauty sounding of the saxophone...at age 63 years old...I am placing an order for a new Alto saxophone...knowing its a great uphill challenge for me without any musical background but God is my awesome saxophone teacher...covet your prayer support...Hallelujah
That riff has been in my memory for so long, it has a resonance in me that I can't begin to describe but it almost feels like it was a childhood memory; snatches on the radio but never knowing what it was or who it was that so captivated me. For me it is a sublime example that just 4 notes (OK repeated by another instrument as an echo) over the right chord and tempo say more than 60 in the same space of time. Utterly memorable beautifully played. Part of my musical journey through Life has been fulfilled. I have heard Candy before - indeed I have one of her albums and always loved her music but this brings a completely new dimension to my appreciation of her as a generous bandleader and a true musician in giving others an opportunity to shine. Absolutely wonderful and thank you Candy. Never seen you live but I hope to soon.
I had the pleasure of hearing her in Charlotte, N.C. on a Sunday night. Without a doubt, the best concert I ever attended. I have had the pleasure of hearing many premier Sax players and enjoyed them all. That night, though, Candy won the best of the best award. Hope she returns. I will be the first standing in line for the show.
