Other changes around the station would be the loss of the cattle market yard which would have been below the station ( now a small car park), vaguely remember seeing cattle there, very early 60's. There was a goods yard to right of station. I think there was one rail track. The path you followed from the station was called the Cinder track. I was told as a child it was made from cinders from the steam trains ?? I have a vague recollection that it was tarred in the 60's. It may have been just in bad repair. Fond memories of Pulborough railway station, it was always beautifully kept. Used to catch the train to school in Horsham. Remember waiting for a lift home with a friend one evening standing on the steps reading the first few pages of Under Milk Wood out loud. We didn't realise anyone was listening till we heard one of the porters laughing out loud. Thank you and everyone involved for doing the channel I am enjoying looking at childhood haunts.

Great idea following old walks, reminiscent of Michael Portillo's Great British Railway Journeys, following his 'Bradshaw's Guide'.

Made a quick visit to UK last weekend, for the 60yrs Event in Dorking for Rob Walker, driving back to Southwater we detoured via two mile ash. There under a tree was this bald bloke and purple female!! it took us a while to realise this was RV!! it was was it not? could not stop as we had cars behind us, but wished you well back home in France now, looking at Pulborough. Keep up the great work....

I always used old guide books when walking/cycling/camping in England. I have a collection of similar books like yours produced by London Transport dating from the 50's onwards published to encourage city folk to get out and about. In fact I have with me here S.P.B. Mais' guide book 'Southern Rambles for Londoners' from 1948. Its a great and useful book. I always use it on my trips back to Blighty!

😁 great video... I do like the look of following the old railway lines. When we were in Barmouth earlier this year we followed some of the Mawddach trail, walking over that fabulous railway bridge over the estuary. Get yourself a campervan Richard and pay it a visit 😍

If this was done on a Sunday, You would have heard the Church Bells ringing in the morning perhaps?

It was done on a Sunday actually. :)

Yes, you would have done. Also on some evenings when the bell ringers would practice.
