Those are some beautiful turkeys you have there. I have 3 bourbon reds, 2 sweetgrass, 1 Spanish black, 1 blue slate, 1 Nargassant, and 4 white broad breasted.
We just got a breeding pair of Bourbon Reds. They definitely are not as friendly as yours. Downfall to not raising them ourselves I suppose. Looking for as much info as possible on them.
Shalom! I recently came across your Channel, and you all are ever inspiring. I have a new little farm in Norco, California. I, too, have Bourbon Reds, 1 male and 2 girls, 2 girl Browns. I purchased mine from Tractor Supply; they were last babies; Tractor Supply had to sale back in August of the previous year, 2022. My chickens have started to lay; the ducks have not, nor do the turkeys. I can't wait to see the others drop eggs and watch babies grow. Thank you so much, and Blessings to you and yours!
I wouldn't say it's a rescue. While we are compassionate and adamant about giving them tons of love and the best life possible, we do sell turkeys and chickens for breeding, for pets, for meat, eggs and also raise them as our own sustainable, organic source of meat. Though we have a good handful of handicapped birds that are welcome to live out their days here in comfort with all the special care and attention they need.. because we believe it's the right thing to do. 🤎
Someone once said if you speed up the video, the cracks will show, when you sped up the vid of the chicks coming out, it became apparent how the mothers were inching them out bit by bit 😂
I just discovered your channel. I love Bourbon Red Turkeys. Turkeys are my favorite birds because they are so sociable. The Toms crack me up because they are always strutting their stuff. Love your babies. You need a Silky rooster. When the hens would get tired of the chicks, my rooster would stay with the babies and protect them from all dangers.
I love the enclosure you had for them to have their babies in we were a bit more open to the elements due to space but I just had a quick question has your tom ever sat down on the ground and let the babies hide under him like they do with their moms? Our babies are raised around their dad but the ladies and the babies remain in the pens during the day while the Tom ( Clyde gets to forage) the other night a couple babies got out and he was hiding them lol I never knew the Tom would take such an interest in helping
That's so sweet! I've witnessed the poults jumping up on dad's back and laying by him, but have never personally witnessed them tucking under him, I think you got to see a quite special thing! Clyde sounds like a keeper! 🤎
@@North44farmstead Thank you for taking the time to answer me, out of your twenty three babies how many survived we have nineteen from our two ladies and only lost one so far First year of real success last year we had predator problems so we are being extremely careful this year
@@karenscheer7984 This was last season but if I remember correctly we had 19 of those 23 survive. This season we've hatched somewhere near 100 poults and lost about 10. It's always so sad to lose them, but as you work up to larger scale, it becomes statistically inevitable.
sooooo, just found ur channel randomly last night (waaaay early this mornin if im bein honest) and i just have to say A++ on content man ;p i love the format of the animals' talkin back in text- they r so dang witty!- and everything in general- content, conversation- an honest, hilarious, loving nature...anyhoo, lovely to meetch'yall an i hope spring is good to ya. i look 4ward to binging and have just subbed.Thank you for being so generous in sharing your lives with perfect strangers and for nurturing nature the ways in which y'all do...just amazing work in these times- almost a lost art unfortunately....keep up the fight
While a good handful of our bourbons are obviously beloved pets, we do breed to sell. Most of them go to good homes as breeders, while some get raised for meat. We do harvest one for ourselves for Thanksgiving. Thanks so much for watching!
I don’t understand well, you feel so much for the chicks, and feel so sorry when they are killed by a rat or accidentally by their mum, so how can you kill them to eat?
Only aggressive males are harvested for Thanksgiving here. Good turkeys are either sold as breeders or get added to our own breeding program. You would totally understand if you could witness a group of 10 of them fighting each other to the death. Aggressive turkeys will teach the new generation to be aggressive too. We want all our turkeys here to be as peaceful as possible. I hope you can understand from the farmer's perspective and thanks so much for watching.
i have 7 red bourbon babies to always enjoy your video.s
Thanks Cerwin! Hope all is well in the Netherlands and your turkeys are thriving!

Silkie Roosters are the best babysitters.
So, it looks as if you all love your turkeys, so why eat them or sell them to eat? Just wondered
I think you are a great mom to all your feathers and fur babies.
Thanks so much for the kind words 😊. Nice way to start the day.

No human babies? IVF BABE! GO FOR IVF! It may take some time/rounds AND it's not cheap but you gotta try, it's not too late.
Nah, we're old and that costs money, but we're not at all opposed to adoption if our financial situation ever improves!
