I was 4 years old when I watched this game with my father, it was the first of many basketball games we have enjoyed(or stressed over!) together over the years. I will always remember hearing "Dunking Dutchman" being chanted at our family Christmas, and "Croatian Sensation" being fawned over by a few of my Aunts! Wonderful memories! Thanks for posting!
I miss these days. This was a great team and fun basketball to watch. To me, the key to this team was Heywoode Workman. He was awesome. Maybe a championship in '96 if it weren't for his knee injury.
It's amazing how excited these teams get just to beat the 95-96 Bulls ONE time in a meaningless regular season game. This proves those Bulls were the greatest team of all time!
Market Square Arena was always on fire back in those days, regardless who Indiana played. Sure it was more crazy on this day, having Jordan there and being a nationally televised game but those mid-late 90s Pacer fans were insane.
Pacers were the only team to beat that historically good Bulls team twice in the regular season. If you count playoffs, the only other teams to beat them multiple times were Seattle (3) and New York (2). That accounts for 7 of their losses in a year where they went 87-13.
Steve Kerr says the team never talked about getting 70 wins until the last part of the season when Phil said, hey guys, let's finish with single-digit losses. Indiana gave then #10.
Classic derrick mckey tries to find a way to turn the ball over and intentionally lose the game for the bulls, but mark jackson bails him out. This was a rigged series, the pacers were fighting and winning the games but derrick mckey always throwing the games during 4th qtrs
Hahaha, at 6:24 its not a carry at all! Carry is what guys like Iverson and Kobe do every time they pull a crossover. Current players are lucky the refs allow them to get away with some much crap while dribbling. Great upload!
now isnt that carry call absolute proof what would old school greats will do in todays nba been allowed " handles " and three four steps while driving while defenders cant even touch them..
So glad Rik Smits got has well deserved All Star game in '98.
Rik Smits was awesome

Pacers accounted for 20% of the bulls losses that year

The way the pacers played this game, it would fit right in with todays game. Most everything from outside.
You must have missed the Rik Smits highlights 🤷♂️
9:00 mama there goes that man!
Rik and the Davis bros. make the Indiana Pacers strong frontline
If that's a carry then there is no way in hell Lebron would survived back then, LMAO!
