If you didn't already know, what's even cooler is that the band's name itself is a reference. Ice IX is from a book called Cat's Cradle. I haven't read it myself but Ice IX is basically a version of water that was created in a lab/found and it's a version of water that freezes at room temperature. The reason that's important is that any normal water Ice IX touches will get turned into Ice IX. And since humans are mostly water...you get the idea. Hence, Ice Nine Kills

There is so much to say about this band, I could never compliment them enough in one comment. One of my favorites of recent years by a large margin. I’ve seen them live twice recently within a week of each show. I can’t recommend it enough, the experience is unmatched by any other show I’ve been to. They newest album is my Album of the Year as of now without a doubt. A couple bits of useful information regarding this song: as with almost every song from their last three albums it is a reference to a specific story, this one being Halloween. The storyline presented in the music video has multiple parts throughout songs on the silver scream to form a nice conclusion on ‘IT is the end’ (based on Steven king’s IT). The silver scream 2: welcome to horrorwood that was just released this month had a similar styled storyline with 4 parts as of now. The order is: hip to be scared, assault and batteries, rainy day, and finally funeral derangements. Even if you don’t make a video of it, I highly recommend enjoying the side stories they have created. Thanks again guys for making another wonderful video. I’ll be here to see every release of this 6 by right away. I’ll make sure to drop some more INK facts along the way. Awesome choice and the excitement you show perfectly resembles my love for this band and what I feel every time I hear them. Have a wonderful day! I’ll see you tomorrow.

Laughed my ass off when you jumped at the intro scream, hahahahahaaaa! The video is delightfully campy to balance out the grisly horror, that's why it's funny. This is based on the Halloween movies, hence Michael Myers and the lyric "It's you or some kid down the street; the choice is yours, TRICK OR FUCKING TREAT!" BTW, Ricky did some of the tracks for STARSET's new album. Something Wicked is a masterpiece. Devolution, Icarus, The Breach, also great.
I didn’t know Ricky did work with Starset, I’ll have to look into that. Another of my favorite bands. I’ve only listened through the album once so far and I loved it. What a great couple years for music it has been.
@@jacobbernard6867 I don't have a CD to check the liner notes about which songs he contributed to, and I haven't found any online source that gives the full performance credits yet, only writing credits. I was kind of meh on Horizons as a whole the first listen, with a few exceptions that I absolutely loved immediately, but I love it more with every listen. I remember it being kind of similar when I first heard Divisions. Like, "where are the screams? Just one heavy song?" I do wish Dustin's screaming was showcased more, like it was on Transmissions and Vessels, but other than the vocals, the music is super heavy. There are a couple of songs in drop E that required an 8 string to record. The lyrics are heavy on a lot of the songs, too. That's part of the appeal of Something Wicked. It doesn't follow any formula, the music is haunting, the lyrics are dark and very personal, and the whole thing is just raw emotion. A masterful work of art. Dustin has said this is their last album with Fearless and they'll be going indie for the next one. I'm curious to see how that affects their artistic choices when they don't have to meet the demands of a record company and can essentially do whatever they want.
as someone who plays after music by ear but has problems if the song is written in certain keys, i really appreciate the display of the keyboard on the screen.
The drums were actually through the production of their old guitarist JD for this whole album. They were in between drummers at the time so JD used the GGD P IV Matt Halpern Signature Pack to produce the drums.
Fun fact Ice Nine Kills got their name from Cats Cradle the book. In the book Ice Nine is a form of water that freezes at room temperature and they put it to use for military equipment to help them traverse muddy areas. It symbolizes that while we have a seemingly endless capacity for knowledge we always use it to kill each other. Hence the name "Ice Nine Kills".
i dont think it's as good as the first but then Spencer really went heavy with the first one, i mean Halloween, Friday The 13th, The Crow, IT, Nightmare on Elm Street and that's not even half the album.
I never heard of this band until you reacted to their first video. My kids and I are completely obsessed now, to the point that my husband complained about hearing them play INK 24/7 so I had to tell the kids to use headphones for a bit. 😂 Thanks for the videos! I’ve discovered a few new things and it’s amazing!
Fun Fact: The breakdown at 15:09 seems (loosely) inspired by „The shape lurks“ from the Halloween-movie. Not confirmed by the band, but I think this can be no accident.
Hey David, loving your reaction videos. In relation to the bands name, ice nine is a character from a novel; cat's cradle by Kurt Vonnegut jr. INKs last 2 albums have focused on horror films as a theme, but that theme started with the album before the silver scream, named every trick in the book, which focused on literary figures, not entirely from works of horror.
In fact, Dan Sugarman became part of INK later, in this Video the Lead-Guitarist is Justin DeBlieck, who currently is very active at producing Bands like Motionless in White.

YESSSSSS, I’m so amped for this 6 by Dave!!!! Let’s goooooooo
Your gonna love the new album so much
That's my favorite song by them.
Greetings from Germany
@@jacobbernard6867 I found it - it's This Endless Endeavour.
Six Songs...great News...i Love this Band!
as someone who plays after music by ear but has problems if the song is written in certain keys, i really appreciate the display of the keyboard on the screen.
YOUR REACTIONS ARE THE BEST
Hearing you playing music from halloween is heaven to my ears...
The drums were actually through the production of their old guitarist JD for this whole album. They were in between drummers at the time so JD used the GGD P IV Matt Halpern Signature Pack to produce the drums.
Your Ice Nine Kills reviews are the best
This is exciting! Love the INK reactions!
Legit you need to listen to Funeral Derangements. My favorite song in the new album and shows off a huge range of their talents!
Keeeeeeep watching
@@MusicShed ❤️❤️❤️
Fun fact Ice Nine Kills got their name from Cats Cradle the book. In the book Ice Nine is a form of water that freezes at room temperature and they put it to use for military equipment to help them traverse muddy areas. It symbolizes that while we have a seemingly endless capacity for knowledge we always use it to kill each other. Hence the name "Ice Nine Kills".
Those chords put in piano are fucking gorgeous
Excited for the next 5 🤩
You need to hear funeral derangements.. this band is just SO GOOD. they are definitely my #1 band
stay tuned…
Love how he is like it's not a 5 by *Holds up 4 fingers* but a 6 by *Holds up seven fingers* LMAO
Ix/9 band. Literally god tier. Their music is chalk full of details.
Love the oncreen Piano chords
Just too good 😁
Gotta watch the live version of this song
Someone has been getting into the Halloween candy.lol. I love the energy!
10:20 oh yeah, feel it. haha i love it!
Please full album reaction of the new album. It's amazing!! (Arguably a little better than The Silver Scream 1)
It is better than the first imo!
My opinion it is not as good. But it's definitely my Album of the Year!
i dont think it's as good as the first but then Spencer really went heavy with the first one, i mean Halloween, Friday The 13th, The Crow, IT, Nightmare on Elm Street and that's not even half the album.
"Friday the 13th guys" sir this movie is legendary and deserves respect for the spooky season. Happy Early Halloween yall
This bands new album is Hype as fuck. The shower scene is an amazing song on it.
Shadow man (michael myers) halloween 🎃 i love this song & album and then the breakdown so fucking sick spencer charnas is a fucking genius
I love how you held up 7 fingers for 6 by both times
Fun Fact: The breakdown at 15:09 seems (loosely) inspired by „The shape lurks“ from the Halloween-movie. Not confirmed by the band, but I think this can be no accident.
Hey David, loving your reaction videos.
In relation to the bands name, ice nine is a character from a novel; cat's cradle by Kurt Vonnegut jr.
INKs last 2 albums have focused on horror films as a theme, but that theme started with the album before the silver scream, named every trick in the book, which focused on literary figures, not entirely from works of horror.
Two minutes in and I already love your vibe. What a cutiepie
“We’re doing a 6 by.” Holds up seven fingers
You’re gonna get a 6 by! (Holds up 7 fingers) 😂😂
In fact, Dan Sugarman became part of INK later, in this Video the Lead-Guitarist is Justin DeBlieck, who currently is very active at producing Bands like Motionless in White.
