Probably my favorite part about this hobby is the fact that everyone has their own opinions. For me the nakiri is absolutely game changing and one of, if not the best knife I own! And I wasn’t a fan of the slifT! Everyone being unique is super cool and makes the hobby interesting for me!
Just ordered my orian 1.5 for washing my dad's truck. I also got the live blade version but I might need to dull it to a certain degree. Like on the edge of being a false edge. Thank you for the video and the stream the other day talking about it
Keep in mind the purpose of the face milling was for modding! I love the two tone anos personally so that was the original purpose. Of course if gives a lot of grip at the same time haha. You’ll like my next design better cause it’s light and no face milling 🤘
Nakiri is the heaviest bali I have owned so far and I honestly prefer my Nakiri over my Seropus. It did take me a while to get used to the weight though.
Oddly enough I like that chunkier feel of balis; like I think my balance tastes are similar to yours, but in ergonomics I've found I have a soft spot for more square and/or more chunky balis(for example i really like the full zippy mod bermuda somehow), and i've been in the hobby for only about a year and a half so I wouldn't say it's for an *old* style of flipping
I definitely appreciate the week update and knowing that you don't think the Nakiri is absolute trash. It's one of my favorites and because it's not really sharp I'm not too afraid to throw it around compared to my other live blades which will actually cut me. It was sharpened at 35° per side so it's not sharp whatsoever and will not slice thru paper. I have yet to be cut and get the blade often. I personally think the milling up the handles is great for the grip and you would be surprised at how slippery titanium gets. My full channel slift is quite slippery, that speed channel on yours adds a ton of grip as well as weight reduction. My problems with the nakiri are actually quite a bit different from yours. I have developed some blade rub as well as tap which is tough to tune out because frankly the hardware is not very good. I developed tap and play in the first day and have to retune frequently. I think he should have used T15 as I've already stripped the t10, sure we can blame me for that but the screws keep backing out on me. I swapped out for some MachineWise pivot/screws and it feels much better. Overall I enjoy it quite a bit especially swapping the weights out I just wish that the hardware had been t15 as well as the higher lead/pitch that MachineWise uses. I think the higher lead / pitch would reduce the screws from backing out while the t15 would prevent stripping. Lastly I really enjoy the weights currently I've got no weights in which is a nice feel but I swapped them around often and it's fun essentially having three different weighted handles in one knife not that it's revolutionary but I do think it's easy to swap around even though the hardware makes it difficult😂 t15 should be standard.
Shoutout to the cheez-it box in the trash.
Shoutout

Definitely, makes the community much more fun to be a part of because each person provides a different perspective
Thank you my friend you’re a true G 🙏
@@sonofableep13 of course Blake! Thanks for tuning my Nakiri up for me! It’s perfect!

That clever blade shape has grown on me ngl
I designed and 3d printed some spacers for the nakiri and it completely dialed the balance.
Ermm are you saying the Nakiri is heavy and sluggish? Madko reference?
u gotta admit it’s beautiful tho
Came to post this
It’s kinda ugly ngl
I'm going to have to disagree on that one, never been a fan of the design
Still hoping I can try someone’s at blade show.

My Nakiri had bind and tap out of the box, I chatted with Blake and he fixed it up for me. Now it’s absolutely perfectly tuned now 🎉
It looks heavy in your hands compared to other bali’s.
slayed💅
wait.. heavy and sluggish?.. oh no🦈...
