- Who's ready for an update on our little moose?! The nearly 9-week-old male calf, who has not yet been named, is settling in and stealing hearts in Rocky Mountain Wild! Animal Care Manager, Rebecca, is in the moose yard with him to talk about how he's been doing since he arrived last Wednesday morning. (To watch video updates of his journey from Alaska to #CMZoo, see his video playlist: • Orphaned Moose Calf Pr... )
On your next visit, look out for him in the moose yard, but keep in mind that he is a baby and takes naps in his barn sometimes. This little guy is growing quickly (he already weighs 115 pounds!), meeting new friends, working on training, trying new foods and exploring his new home, which requires a lot of energy. He has access to his barn and his yard, so make sure you leave time during your visit to swing by twice if you don't see him the first time around.
The biggest question about our little guy has been, "What is his name?" As of today, you can bid on the chance to name him in our virtual Zoo Ball online auction. Check out cmzoo.org/zooball for more information and to check out other CMZoo experiences, art and more. You can also make a donation to the Zoo, which we really appreciate after being closed for three months due to COVID-19.
Thanks for following along as we welcomed him home last week! We'll keep you posted on this long-legged love's progress.
Hello mister moose! Your a cutie pie! 🤎
He sure is 🙂
What a great start to my day seeing our little moose exploring and hearing a lot of information about what is going on with him. He is so adorable! He seems to love the camera -- maybe he knows we are all at the other end watching what he does and loving him so much!
He loves the camera
Thank you so much for all the updates on this precious baby moose! I was just looking on youtube for an update! God bless the whole zoo! Keepers & animals!
This little guy even at 115 lbs is absolutely adorable::))
What a handsome boy, wonderful
Thanks for this update...you are taking good care of him and getting to see his personality. I am already emotionally invested in him, and grateful he is adjusting nicely.
He is adorable . He is going to be huge when he grows up
Little Moose Man, so cute. Wonderful to see him settling in nicely 💛
I am in love...❤️❤️
He is beautiful and curious.

What a cutie!!
Those eyelashes are so cute! He is adorable! Congrats on a wonderful new addition.
He so adorable love him 😘😘
It's wonderful watching him getting used to his new home. I can tell he's going to be friendly. What a joy it is to watch him at his new home and all the wonderful experiences ahead for him and visitors to the zoo. I wish I lived close enough to visit, but I live 3 states away. Thankfully I will be able to watch his updates. ❤
He loves the camera . he's so cute . glad he's adjusting well💕💖
He's a handsome baby. Got a lot to grow though!
He's a bright spot in this time of bleakness. I was thinking, his story is like Smokey the Bears\'s. He could become famous.
Bullwinkle!

Will he ever be around another moose?
At what age will he start growing his antlers?
Does someone stay with him a lot as Mom would be with him for a long while yet...
Why if your outside and wearing a mask?
1. As he is so young why aren't you putting an older companion animal in with Him? Cow, Llama, pony, donkey? Something. Rescue groups do that with many animals.
2. Yard seems too small.
3. I want to see more zooming.
Some people asked that question on Facebook. There is a turkey that will be sharing the enclosure with him. The keepers will be his companions as well. When he is ten months, they will back off because that is when moose begin living their solitary lives. The camera makes it look smaller.
@@Powerranger-le4up A turkey is nowhere the same as any of the animals I mentioned and no the turkeys are nor in the same area as he. Even large dogs are used in some rescue operations. With the zoos mostly "hands off" policy they aren't the same either.
