- In the USA, truck drivers, known as ‘truckers’, form a close-knit community of more than three million members. They are vital pillars of the US economy, because 70% of all goods are transported by road in the USA. Day in, day out, they crisscross the country on the freeways in their huge trucks, steel monsters which can carry a load of up to sixty tonnes.
Truckers have their own rituals and traditions. They maintain their trucks with extreme care, as well as adding their own personality with quirky customisations. More than anything, these road warriors are the embodiment of the American dream, evoking the cowboys of yesteryear. Their lives are based on liberty, travel, and wide open spaces. But the work is hard physically, and they suffer long weeks of separation from their family. Depression and divorce are common. They also face more and more onerous government regulation.
The profession has also been facing a recruitment crisis over the past few years. The industry needs to recruit one million drivers by 2030 in order to satisfy demand and to supply all of the stores in the US. Thanks to this labour shortage, some new truckers have joined the profession.
Tony Justice, is both a trucker and a country singer. He has become the spokesperson for a community which is still very much alive and more attached than ever to its traditions.

Great message Now that I am Retired from Trucking looking back at the sacrifice I made, makes me proud of what my father and grandfather did along with me and now my Son and Nephew are doing it now and carrying on that tradition. ❤
I'm a fellow truck driver and his music keeps me going
I have been all across the USA and Canada in a truck long before I had my drivers license. My old man drove truck and any time I was out of School I was in the truck living in the truck and eating, showering and doing laundry at the truck stops it was the best. i loved it and still do and seen so many things that I would of never got to sitting at home.

I'm not a driver but I do alot of big road driving from NE Indiana to Western NC and back I've always had respect for truckers and Tony's music speaks to why I've always had respect for them I might only be driving a four wheeler on them but roads but Tony's music is ALWAYS playing God bless Tony for what he does and all those drivers out there keeping this country rolling 💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Im not a truck driver, i drive a tow truck for a living. I was rained by 3 OTR drivers, and got my work ethic from all 3. Keep doing what you do, cause if them wheels ain't turning, they ain't earning.

I am a 74 y.o who still drives truck, bulk cement tanker, still proud to do what in do, i am an old timer, i can still drive a standard transmission, i hauled liquid manure, hay, corn and now bulk cement and most of the guys hauling bulk cement at 65 and older their cant find anyone younger to do the job
