    Sadly these little guys are the most endangered penguin species, even more than the yellow eye penguin.

    It's good they can breed opportunistically three times a year, since there aren't many of them left.

    Humanity was enamored by famous explorers reaching *Farthest South* records during the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration; culminating in Roald Amundsen reaching 90 degrees S in 1911.
    However, little credit has been given to the Galapagos penguins for setting a new Record *Farthest North* for their species; an incredible 1 degree N into the Northern Hemisphere, at the far northwestern tip of Isabela Island!
    few Penguins ever ventured further north than the 60th degree S parallel, favoring the cooler waters of the southern Ocean near their homeland of the Subantarctic Islands. But thanks to their tiny friends, they can now lay claim to as far north as the Equator!
