Montreal has absolutely no pressure on them whatsoever. They weren't even supposed to make the playoffs. They were supposed to lose to the Leafs. They definitely should've lost to the Leafs when they were down 3-1 in the series. Nothing was expected of this team. So when you play without a care in the world & you play a system that works, everything you accomplish is just gravy. They are having the time of their lives, you can see it after every win. They are going out there & playing their game, game in and game out & none of their opponents have had an answer for them. More than anything else, the fact that they have no monkey on their back is what's making them successful in these playoffs.

I actually heard this a couple days ago. Only because it popped up on my Google news feed. Every person on the Blackhawks staff that knew should be banned from the NHL for life. How do you trust these people with the welfare of future kids in the league when they clearly don't make the right call when confronted with a safety problem on their team.

It seems like Westhead's source is exclusive at this point. There have been articles in The Athletic and some Chicago newspapers that have run the original story with their own independent corroboration. But the latest updates there's nothing, probably cause all the journalists are trying to get their own sources to corroborate. They won't just run a story saying 'this reporter on TSN reported this and we have no idea if it's true'. Until their own sources come through, they can't really do much to amplify the message without putting their own asses in a sling.

Hawks fan here, want to touch on some things regarding the allegations against the team that you guys discussed:
To respond to Steve, it's not an enormous story in the city. The fans that closely follow the Hawks are aware of it, but no local outlets are reporting on it. Pretty shocking. Mine and other local podcasts have been discussing it to try to raise awareness, but it simply doesn't have the reach that mainstream outlets do. I'm saddened to hear about all of this as a fan of the team, but the consensus among fans is that people need to be held responsible and lose jobs. All three of the guys in "upper management" (McDonough, MacIssac, and Bowman) are all still with the team. Bowman's name is at the forefront of the discussions, but he's never been the sole shot-caller in the city. They've always made decisions by committee. All three bear full responsibility. The team still has not made a comment on these allegations and I don't suspect they will.
On a side-note, I find it interesting that the Hawks are "in" on big name players like Hamilton, Jones, and Eichel when they've never brought in a big name via trade or free agent signing in the last 10 years. Don't want to pull out the tinfoil hat, but it sounds like they might be trying to distract from this story dominating headlines by making a significant off-season move.

People so often conflate "size" with HEIGHT. Fleury is a terrible example of a "small" player. Ever meet the guy? He was built like a barrel. His shoulders were wider across than some guys who are 6'5''. Lots of short players are successful in the NHL, because they are strong, stocky and powerful.

Listen, I was sexually abused by a male babysitter(I'm a male, and the babysitter was able to abuse me by telling me that if I didn't want to "play" with him, he would go "play" with my little sister) and I can honestly say that it has had a DEVASTATING effect on my life... I've dealt with drug addiction, and chronic depression my entire life(I contemplated suicide by the age of 11, eventually attempted it when I was 19, and again at 23(both times by heroin overdose {I know, I'm a coward}) turns out a Dr. told me it's more difficult than you'd think to suicide that way(he told me a better way, which was mind boggling at the time) anyway, I can literally trace the change in my psyche to that night(I think that's part of the reason the phrase "loss of innocence" exists, and it's the WORLD THAT LOSES IT'S INNOCENCE)... A huge part of the damage came from informing my family, and because they didn't know what to do about it, it was primarily ignored(I don't know what to do either, except I know the answer isn't "nothing", nor is it "ignore it and it'll go away")... I'm sorry to address it in the comments section of a UA-cam video, but since it came up I figured I'd share... BTW, it's infuriating to go on Facebook and see that my abuser(and the abuser of at least 6 other boys I grew up with) hasn't faced an iota of consequence due to his behavior knowing the suffering his actions have wrought!!! He's living a happy existence in California... Fvcking statute of limitations!!! Anyway, thanks for your time, and consideration... Be well! Peace!

Boils down to one word - ENTITLEMENT - This is the 3rd team in a row that expected to beat the Habs and got more and more frustrated as their expected dominance didn't occur. And while the Leafs, Jets and hopefully the (not so) Golden Knights wonder why it didn't, the Habs are relishing being underdogs, relishing being told they can't do it. Because THAT'S WHO THEY ARE!
Paul Byron and Brendan Gallagher have been told repeatedly that they won't make it...look at the Leafs, Jets and GKs...which among them has been told they will never play in the NHL? Wheeler who was drafted out of high school? Matthews? Tavares? Pacioretty? None of those three teams have guys who had to prove everyone wrong every step of the way to the NHL and then had to do so again as NHL players. Has there ever been a better waiver wire pickup than Paul Byron? Fewer sexy #1 draft picks and more character guys who battled the odds every step of the way...

Notice that no secret 'Hockey Analytics' is applied on any of the top 4, like in Toronto the Nice and probably Edmonton. Look at the names that hit the game sheets in the playoffs. No billion dollar babies of significance. No individual wins cups. See GM of the Year (again). He identifies competitive players and use what they have to contribute to a team win. Depth and unified effort wins, can't rely on All-stars, history shows they usually disappear or get shutdown when you need them. In Toronto there are allstars and everybody else is limited to holding the door open for them, deemed second class roles. Leafs think they can buy a cup. GM is like Poindexter. He has no feel for the NHL level. An NHL competitior isnt going to allow little dangly guys to embarass them. Leafs finally handed over the keys to the vault and gave the steering wheel up but management now has taken too many wrong turns and will not recover easily. Wrong decisions - Lamoriello vs Dubas. Mark Hunter. McIllaney. Unsteady Freddy. Giving in to Nylander. Missed signing Cory Perry. Making a good player Marner into something else. Mean Babcock vs buddy Keefe - heed the many stories about cup winners that thought their coach was a prick but thank him in retrospect. Show me a popular nice coach and I will show you a good loser. Powerplay coach that cant incorporate depth. And more...
But I would like to end on a positive note, overall theLeafs are a group of really nice boys, says Mom. Stop aggravating fans with canned interviews and rhetoric.
You cant build the house starting from the roof, Start from the goalie and build out.
If they try to sign one more media prince like Jack Eichel now I am jumping. Bring back Cliff Fletcher to make the deals. His deal for Gilmou Niewendyk, Macoun Rouse Wamsley (and Lefebvre) was the greatest in history.

Whether it's the Canucks coming off a 3 week quarantine or the Habs finishing 18th overall, unable to put the puck in the net. If the NCAA changes their rule to allow OHL players to play in the NCAA it won’t kill the OHL. But it would kill USPORTS hockey (Canadian university hockey). Majority of the overages in the CHL go to usports after their last OHL season, but they’d just go NCAA instead if they had the opportunity.

I’m regards to the S/A thing and the reason it’s not big, I can’t tell you right now it’s because it’s about men. Men, especially those who are considered “strong” are often overlooked when it comes to this. edit: Also on the later NCAA discussions, I knew a guy that was set to play for Harvard after he graduated and didn’t know about the rules/restrictions with CHL teams. He wasn’t NHL caliber but the dude was super smart and a pretty talented player. He played a single exhibition game in the QMJHL and the whole thing fell through, and he lost his road to Harvard. It’s so infuriating.

Everyone of the executives in Chicago should resign and they should lose their next two first round draft picks ofc that would only happen if the nhl was serious about anything

    • @QRM00
      @QRM00 3 роки тому +3

they should all be fired and it should be a serious fine (15mil++). Taking away picks has nothing to do with helping victims of abuse or spreading awareness, it's a slap on the wrist to 1 team. Cheveldayoff, Quenneville and Bergevin are all big pieces in other organizations now, IF they knew, then they and their organizations should be penalized as well (likely more funds to donate to important/related causes... though not nearly as much as Chi). It may have spread beyond Chicago, and IF that's the case then penalizing one org will not help the ENTIRE league.
This s*** could be happening elsewhere, if these execs were negligent in Chicago, who's to say that they won't be negligent elsewhere.
