Yo I just binge watch this whole playlist! The Last Kingdom is truly a gem and needs more people to watch it. It has everything from story telling, character development, emotion, action and who can't forget Uthred and his crew!!! I love the pace of the show too it doesn't drag the emotional parts too long. I can't wait for y'all to watch the final episode of season 5. Now i will be joining the patreon to check out the rest of the playlist and see uncut versions! Love y'all commentary and how you give your take on the situations.
Those conversations between Brida and Uhtred are some of the most powerful in the series I think. Such a good season!
Uhtred and Brida love each other, but it's a love that is beyond just lovers or friends. It's pure, and thats why Brida hates/resents him so much because she loved him so much. I love Brida, even at her lowest. She has so much emotion and pain within her. Alot like Uhtred in that sense. They've both dealt with such loss and hardship.

Y'all should also read The Saxon Stories which relate to this show, there are like 13 books I believe written by Bernard Cornwell whom also found out that he is actually a descendant of Uhtred the Bold who Uhtred of Bebbanburg is loosely based off of, so I read.

I think the reason Alfred is like that to him is bc he has a dream of England and shit and he has this guy who grew up wit the “enemies” and helps so he can’t really fully trust him cuz he scared to lose his dream and cuz he scared of uhtred
There's a great video by Zurik 23M which is a super cut of lots of Alfred scenes from this show it does a really good job of showing how Alfred was always thinking of his dream England and at times made decisions he was not comfortable with also through showing lots of throwaway remarks Alfred made it becomes clear how much he always respected Uhtred. I've watched the show more than once but seeing it all put together really makes it stand out similar to R & L=J in game of thrones.

i think your both right. uthred has something to gain from being saxon but but she is just a peasant girl from the village. on the other hand i feel never got the validation that uthred got, cos the ragnerson family died. brida sees that she is a woman and she might have all these female disadvantages but not once did she not stay true to being a dane and to the cause and uthred just gets to do this and that be dane or saxon when he chooses to get ahead and she is like hey i may be a woman but whose the one sticking to glory or valhalla all day, everyday. i think there's a little bit of validation she never got that she yerns for. the family made him uthred ragnerson but she just stayed brida the slave girl.
