As a Catholic, I love listening to Dr Brown and his God given insight, but as st Peter had to take Jesus words for truth so must I,
Jesu say's: " unless You drink my blood and gnor on my flesh (Greek translation) you will not have life in you. Then all the followers walk away, Jesus does not say it is Okay I'm only talking in metaphor, no Jesus turns to Peter and says are you going to leave now? Peter not knowing the full implication takes on faith Jesus' words and replies, "to where else should I go, You have the message of eternal life. "Now if everyone would have left Jesus that day there would be no New Church establish by the apostles. Just as the Israelites had to eat the lamb to sustain them in the desert we too must eat the lamb of God who is Jesus to get us through the new Exodus, as mentioned at the transfiguration, all Christians until the reformation believed in the true Presence of God in the eucharist - meaning Body blood soul and divinity. Ironically the Jewish Talmud says they will only be one sacrifice left, that of Thanksgiving, and that is what the word Eucharist means Thanks giving.

Does God give cancer to children for good reasons ? He could prevent it if he wanted couldn’t he ? Why did god cause the earthquake that killed over thirty thousand people in Turkey and Syria ? Why is there evil everywhere ? Why is there this tremendous amount of suffering ? Wouldn’t things be exactly the same without a god ?

According to scripture, sin brings disaster into the world, and in a world were people think it is fine to kill their offspring in the womb at the rate of 73 million every year ,there will be Judgement but God ultimately uses judgement for the greater good. And in our modern secular times there as been more suffering by those who do not believe in God, Starlin starved to death around 7 million, Chairman moe around 80 million. @@repent6238 sure it does! It also means that there is no mercy. Blood is required no matter what. Consider the courtroom drama of a guilty person unable to pay. Some rich person in the back, offers to pay the penalty for this guilty soul, so they don't go to jail.
According to Orthodox Rabbis, God as the Judge, is able to forgive this guilty soul without payment or blood. Unilaterally. If there actually is a repentance.
