Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
I saved allot of money by making my own with snap rings, swivels, tear drop sinkers and wide gap hooks lol. Nice if you dont want to have to look for the material to make your own, but you can make tons for cheap if you do.
I thought the same thing but the only good thing about this is you can put it on a snap if you don’t wanna keep re-tieing when you’re using cranks, jerks, jigs, and all that
The Tokyo Rig IS the real deal!! I have fished the standard EWG hook rig in 3/0 & it catches fish!! I have simply pitched into pads, weeds, wood, etc. with a 5" stickworm (Senko type) jigged it, dragged it, etc. & they can't stand it!! Best new deal for me in a long time & I haven't even tried it with creatures etc.. Why when the sticks work so well??
I made this two years ago and called it the snapshot rig cause it’s a drop shot that you can use a snap and not have to retie. Makes you able to put cranks and drop shots in one rod
This can be made with a EWG hook, a split ring, a barrel swivel, and a paper clip. Much cheaper than buying the actual rig. Not ripping on Mike, he's getting paid to promote this, but there is no reason to buy this when you can make it yourself in a few minutes.
Отлично выстрелил этой осенью по судаку. Единственное, что стоит сделать это увеличить длину спицы до 15см. Лучше прочих оснасток проходит завалы камней.
No doubt, it works good, but in submerged vegetation, grass, I think there is just too much hardware that would catch the grass (swivels, ring and the curled loop at the end of the wire, not to mention the sinkers and hook.)
Because the hook eye is free to rotate along the split ring, does this set up allow the lure to still sit parallel to the bottom? If so, this may be a way to approximate a drop shot presentation without remaining perfectly vertical. 🤔
So, let me get this straight: you've got a swivel, split ring, a stiff wire that goes through a weight and gets bent, and a hook. That's a lot of connections and areas where muck, grass, and weeds can collect and get fouled and snagged. Plus, the entire thing is loosely connected so it will just collapse in on itself with the weighted wire swinging anywhere it wants to including against the soft-plastic, unless you just keep reeling it in fast at a spot where there's no cover or structure whatsoever which would beg the question why in the heck are you fishing where fish are most likely not to be? Of course, maybe, just maybe, you can fish this vertically but wait, is there something better that doesn't have a bunch of metal attached to it? I think there might be..... hmmmmmmm....... what do they call it? It's a colorful weight with a hook attached to it, starts with a j...... A jig! That's it! Dear Lord is anybody really buying and using this ridiculous contraption?
thank you! what people don't realize is that is it NOT just the hook that catches weeds: in heavy vegetation, anything can catch onto the weeds, most commonly, the weight itself despite the bullet shape ....I would have to try this myself in heavy weeds to see what would happen...
@@GwenStefaniGuild haha you calling me a snowflake? Yeah who cares if you're eating it but where I come from there is a big influence on fish safety if the fish are being returned. Was just a question no need to jump to name calling mate.
I would think that wire looks unnatural and would spook the fish, but it must work to be so popular...If fish are ok with metal wires, braided line should not spook fish...
I will say that i much prefer the tokyo to the texas rig and I've had plenty on the tokyo. In my opinion, that steel wire is not even really seen by the fish because of the way youre fishing it. The bait will get seen mostly from above or at eye level. Maybe it is seen it just doesnt bother them?again, just my opinion
Kevin Schneider I think it looks decently different since Texas rig has that bullet singer affecting the action of the bait. The bait is no longer free to have its horizontal action (comes from that barrel swivel). But looks like a lot of guys figured out alternative diy options, which I might try.
Been making these forever.. I think ur length sucks.. u should make them at least 6". And cut em down of need be. I make mine upwards of 8" even.. on a half slack line has mad action
I was wondering about increasing the wire length. Can you get the wire to stand up straight and then just twitch the lure 8" above the bottom, like drop shotting? Or, because of all the loose connections, does it just all collapse?
I dunnoe why ppl are complaining about price so much i found some at sportsmans for 3 bucks and some change for a pack of 2. And ill admit im lazy to build my own. But 3-4 buck aint to bad. Im sure its it's cheaper than losing 7-25 dollar lures, only expensive part i see that can be kinda crappy are that the tungsten weights do cost alot depending on what brand you'd like to add to it. Then again you can go cheap and just use lead.🤷♂️

The action of this looks phenomenal. Can't wait to get my hands on one and try it.
Hook, split, ring, barrel swivel and a paper clip. You can make one in a few minutes.
@@tommymckiddy7872 Good tip
Split ring, piece of 030 spinnerbait wire, done deal. Been doing this in the south for years!

This was a damn commercial disguised as a fishing tips and tricks video
So what?!
This is actually crazy
This looks like it would be awesome to inshore flounder fishing.
I was skeptical at first and even made the comment that it was a glorified drop shot. I was wrong, it works.
Great to hear that you gave it a try and it worked 👍 What did you catch with it?
Отличное видео !!!👍👍👍🐟🐟🐟 Познавательно 👍
Fishing tutprial .. awesome .. my friend

I've been using something like that for two years. I guess I should have named it...🤣🤣 I can tell you it works great with a TuR.D
We missed out man.. haha. I think they make em to short.. I make 6"-8" ones

Drop shot variation. Makes sense to me.

этот монтаж я знаю!
I bend the wire down-leader in a 45-degree angle and call it the Hiroshima Rig.
Oh my 😂
Been doing this for a couple of years as a punching rig on the California Delta. Some of you are right it’s a drop shot on steroids.
Robert A Juarez nah, an extended jika rig
Fish has all kinds of leverage to throw it on a jump head shake though. Get him in the boat quick.
nice tokyo rig!
may be a stupid question , but how would you connect the welded ring to the hook eye ?
And for 19.99 you can have yours today ,but wait we'll double that offer just pay a separate fee
lol
But wait! Theres more!
Cool technique, looks like u can diy something like this and save a little money
X V paper clips, split rings, swivels
To buy these from TW or BPS is insane. Super easy to make. Bunch of how to vids on here too.

Could the fish get injured by shaking it's head with that lead flipping around underneath it?

what lure are you using on the rig?
Why use 2 tungsten weights for the ticking noise? Just use a glass bead, wayy louder ticks
What soft plastic is being used in this video?

.....because it is.
Lol oh really? no shit, dude. It is supposed to be better than a drop shot because of that wire
Idiot
jessandchanrmyfam y’all Americans don’t know alot do you, it clearly is a wannabe jika rig.
Only benefit of it is you can throw it on a snap

How does this work in a rocky or a semi Rocky rip rap?
Why would you buy this @ $4.50 per pack? This looks like the easiest rig every to make.
shit why didn't I think of this.... lol
I agree, they are selling like crazy and it is just a wire drop shot.
What size hook?
a short drop shot with extra steps. and cost..
Oh! So you throw a drop shot into Lilly pads, wood, grass mats etc?
The wire is too short
