Hugh Fraser is soooo good as an audio book reader!
I've been waiting for this kind of video from you, thank you! I've only read Murder on the Orient Express so far and was not a huge fan, but I really want to give Poirot another go. I think I'll give The Murder of Roger Ackroyd or The Mysterious Affair at Sykes a go next.
Oh lovely! I'm glad this is a helpful resource. With Agatha... you can't really go wrong with anything you pick ;)
Yes, Murder of Roger Ackroyd is probably my favorite Poirot.
@@bavariantrawler I find it hard to chose my favorite. But I love murder of Roger Ackroyd
I’ve been reading them and just came across your video to hear your thoughts but happened to have started with one of your suggestions. By happenstance I read Murder on the Orient Express, Murder of Roger Akroyd, and Death on the Nile first and felt it was a great start.
This was sooooo helpful to me! Thank you for all the time and effort that you put in this series! It really showed and being new to Christie it’s good to hear what you thought about each and every one of these!! ☺️☺️💜
That is music to my ears (or eyes, since it's written? :))! I hope you find something in here to enjoy
It’s bittersweet to say bye to the Poirot Project but I’m excited about the Marple Project in the new year. Thank you for spreading your love for Agatha Christie!
But of course!!
Great video! As a fan of the Orient Express and Death on the Nile films, I was wondering where I start with the books. Thanks alot!
I appreciate this video now I have my where to start. 😊 supper excited.
Loving your Poirot reviews! I’m currently working my way through the Agatha Catalogue in a year, I’m about half way through 😊
Awesome!! I hope you are enjoying the ride!
Your comment on CARDS at 8 minutes perfectly describes Poirot's /Christie's style of solving mysteries. If only Hastings and others would believe him !
Good stuff! I'm adding Cards on the Table and After the Funeral to my _to buy_ list!
Get it girl!! :)
Not related to Poirot but Dan Stevens narration of And Then There Were None is fantastic. He has a great knack of doing different voices that sound character appropriate and the female ones don't sound silly
Great video. I've now read Mysterious Affair at Styles and Murder on the Links and thoroughly enjoyed them. Got the third Poriot Investigates and was very surprised how short this book is compared to the first two. If you haven't guessed yet I am reading in chronological order. Hope you have a great day.
This was sooo helpful. Thank you🙏🏻
Yay, I'm glad to hear it!
I’ll miss these great videos, but I’m looking forward to Marple next year.
Coming in 2019!! :)
Love Geraldine McEwan as miss Marple
Thanks for this video, great choices. Please add " Evil under the Sun" to your collection.
I just finished that book.
It was so amazing 👏 😍 😭
Again love watching you.
I appreciate that :)
Hi beauty, Murder on the Orient Express, Death on The Nile & Evil Under The Sun+Witness For The Prosecutions are my all time favourites. I got all my Agatha Christie books from my late Mum during the 70s and keep a habit of re-reading these titles every year.
What is your opinion about Poirot’s Early Cases ???
I've read Murder on the Orient Express last month and I just finished Death on the Nile, so Cards on the Table is next!!!!! I've enjoyed those two books!
Yay, enjoy!
I'm really excited for Wimsey Wednesdays because I just read Bellona Club and I'm looking forward to read Whose Body? soon so...and also excited for Mission Marple of course...
Yay! I'm excited for both of them, though I am also excited for a little break ;)
bookslikewhoa You deserve it. It has been a big ride to read every Poirot novel! I hope you will continue with this kind of projects in the future, I mean after Mission Marple and Wimsey Wednesdays. Hello from Spain!
I have never been interested in murder mysteries but between you and Lil's discussions on Agatha Christie, I may have to give them a try at some point. I think I will go with the short story collections at some point (right now all my money is going to PG Wodehouse works).
I hope you enjoy her! I'm personally a big fan of the short stories (I'm a fellow lover of Wodehouse!), so good luck!!
Only if people did recommendations job like you ❤
These are all great options for people wanting to start reading Poirot. It's so helpful that you've taken the time to consider different options for different readers. For me, Death on the Nile would have to be on my list as that has got to be my favourite all up 😊. I've often thought it could also be interesting to discover Poirot as the people of the times did, ie starting with The Mysterious Affair at Styles, working through The Sketch short stories and into The Murder on the Links, with maybe Christmas Adventure as a nice coda. Though for a true taste of Christie's style, you can't go wrong with a novel from the 1930s.
I do have such a soft spot for DOTN - it's probably associated with Angela Lansbury & Bette Davis in the adaptation, but even that aside, it's a classic! And yes, 100%, 1930s Poirot FTW!
Great job!
One of my favorites is "The Mystery of the Blue Train" i don't believe it deserves the scorn that Agatha gave it.
It's not one of my favorites, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as many seem to think. I can think of many I enjoyed less (a lot of them being her later books).
Tq 4 your sharing 🤔😆
The Hollow, that's what I found in my school library. Is it the worst start possible?
I’m gonna start with the mysterious affair at styles, then murder on the orient express, death in the Nile, cards on the table, then the murder of roger ackroyd
Cheers from Canada! I have been trying to get these books from the Crime Club edition because they look great but I haven’t been able to do so. Where can I buy them?
Will you make Miss Marple's project? I hope so...
I will indeed! Mission Marple starts in mid-January 2019! I will post an announcement video closer to time :)
bookslikewhoa omg i cant waaait...
Top 10 Poirot novels video, please...
Question
I just finished the mysterious affair at styles and grabbed curtain by accident its his last case and his first case should i read it in this orded or pick up something else?
Hey, I have recently found your channel and have been loving your videos on Agatha Christie, it is just so great to be able to read her Poirot books and then come to your channel to see your opinion on them. I look forward to your Miss Marple series. Also, do you think it would be possible for you to make a video on different Agatha Christie's (or Poirot) books to read during a specific time of the year ? I have been wondering which ones I should save for special times like Halloween, Christmas, Summer, etc and would love if you could help me with that.
Keep doing the awesome job you have been doing :)
Oh, that's a fascinating idea... hmm, I will put that in my idea list and see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion!! :)
Do you like the hardcover books or the very famous paperback books of agatha christie. And i loved project poirot and waiting for mission marpel and will you do a series with tommy and tuppence too. Keep up with the good work
Thank you! I may do T&T, depending on how I'm feeling at the end of Mission Marple... we shall see :)
Hi! After reading "Murder on the orient express." Is it kay to start with Murder in the mews... thanks.
I didn't much like The Murder of Roger Ackroyd precisely because of that trope or literary device or whatever it was it used. But then I saw it coming so...
Death on the Nile is my favourite I think :)
Yeah, I'm pretty similar tbh... I saw the twist coming, so I think I don't have a huge affection for this the way others do. Death on the Nile is a GREAT fav! :)
If you don't read them in chronological order, do you miss references or callbacks to previous mysteries? Or is that not something that Christie does a lot of in her series'?
Occasionally, but I wouldn't say it's enough to keep someone from reading out of order. Usually, you'd have to have read the book or story in question to pick up on the allusion
Thank you so much
I really like what you have done.
Can you just tell us what should people who's English language isn't their mother tongue, bilingual I mean.
What they should do if the do not understand every single word of these books.
I recently started reading Agatha Christie books the first death on the Nile soon I will read the ABC murders
Am I the only one who loves The Big Four ?
I came here because I didn't know how to pronounce his name.
You are beautiful!
