Yes,Linda this is a great old movie that is 4 years ahead of my age. Wjen I was born there wasn t a television, so people went to the movie theatre to see these "flix" so enjoy them. We went to the drive-in to see them wjen I was 6 years old. I was on stage myself and started these old dance routines in 1976AD. Our dancers were Coreographer teachers.

wow! we moved to Brooklyn NY in 1960, when I was 13 & I used to hear Peter Lind Hayes & Mary Healy ( his wife) on their morning radio show on WOR 710 NY ! I had no idea about their film experience then...and this film also stars Grace Hayes- Peter's mother - how cool is that! Thankyou yet again Pizza Fix

I LOVE this movie! Thank you for putting it up. Those young actors were part of the Greatest Generation, and the last generation to be well educated during high school in western civilization regarding our great history and literature. They came out of high school with a spectacular education which was far superior to a college graduate today. Thanks again.

Huntz Hall (of the Bowery Boys) is in this movie: in the beginning driving that car with the clothes. I think he is referred to as 'Skinny' in the ice cream parlor/dance hall. So funny to see him in a different role. Such a sweet movie. You cannot find this genre today.

Fabulous, magical movie -- get over the corniness of it and concentrate on the acts/"college students" and the idea of college students keeping their college going by opening a nightclub. Hello! How wonderful is that? Plus dig the star -- the fabulous, magical Grace Hayes. Love her -- and there's not even a Wikipedia entry for her! Crazy! Shows how much has been lost. (Also see her in Rainbow over Broadway, also posted by Pizzaflix.)

I love these college movies where the students look to be in their late 20s and early 30s - and all they think about is Broadway shows and football! Speaking of which, for a Board member to even suggest "buying" football players would be enough to put the school on probation today (since all Board actions are required to be recorded in the Minutes). Of course, one of the lessons here is that money can buy happiness - although I'm surprised no one punched the mother at some point (the way she orders her assistant around is pretty despicable).
But at least the film had Huntz Hall! Hayes and Healy were technical the leads in the wonderfully weird film THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR. T, but even there they were easily upstaged by Hans Conreid.

A lovely old corny flick from yesteryear. Funny how, despite the quality, you just get drawn in. Better with headphones I found. The story line was still fresh back then and it's music and choreography are great for what it was. I love when I find an old movie that I don't recall ever seeing before. Thanks for sharing..

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much about Grace Hayes on the internet and films/tv shows that have her son and daughter-in-law appearing in them are also almost non-existent except for clips and records - come on folks in the know please release some more for us.

"My greif, what is this the Johnstown Flood". I'm from the Johnstown area and Johnstown had the 1889, 1936 and 1977 Floods. The 1889 Flood was the most devastating one with 2,208 deaths.

Barbara M; thanks to your comment, I have been reading for the past 2 hours about the history of these horrific and deadly floods in Johnstown, PA. The reference in the film went right over my head, I having never heard about this history before. Even the 1977 flood, in my own lifetime, was unknown to me; ( I was in a remote Inupiat Eskimo village when it happened, completely out of touch with news for several months.)
The Wikipedia accounts and references of the 1889 flood are riveting reading, making it so easy to imagine the chaos and sudden death, with a few people seeing what was about to happen, trying to warn thousands of others spread out over tens of miles, using the transportation and communication of the day (horses and word of mouth). It's a wonder no more than the 2208 people died in the disaster. They found bodies of flood victims all the way to Ohio, and were still finding them 22 years later in 1911. 777 bodies were never identified. Anyway, thank you again for recognizing the reference and bringing it to our attention!

Thank you for taking the time to understand about how devastating the floods of Johnstown were. You can now understand why the comment made in the movie could seem callous. The other commentor that replied just saw it as a joke. I know that was how it was meant but it is found to be in bad taste to those of us that drive by where people died and where they were trapped in the 1889 flood as the fires started and also burned those trapped at the bridge.
I only went once to see the documentary at the Museum because it is to heartbreaking to see more than once.
Other than that joke I think I remember enjoying this movie.
      I wish you well.

    • @varonadee6980
      @varonadee6980 Рік тому +1

@@barbaram5787 Yes, written communication of comments is easy to misinterpret. Considering this movie was made only FIVE years after the 1936 flood, and 20-year-old survivors of 1889 would have only been in their 60s, the movie was going for laughs irrespective of anyone's personal experiences. It's been 21 years since 9/11, (and I've never been to New York), but I still wouldn't think it's appropriate joke material.
I wasn't sure, after this length of time, if you'd even see my comment, so thank you so much for responding. Take care, lovely lady!

the male actor standing with arms folded developing voices is to me a madness , he is similar to school. A person who believed the teacher without having access to his inner self . He is taking the psyche of the voice. a danger ot ears and to him he has been abused most certainly psychologically ; this is not acting but displaying a pathology.

Just how did upgrading a student hangout dinner into a nightclub have the side effect of making the school football team into a winning team?
The only thing I can deduce is that with the excess money generated by the new club they gave 'scholard' to' new, more capable players.
In other words they brought in some 'Ringers'
