Agreed. If Pokemon was missing anything, it was something to make it feel like an ACTUAL sport that people in the world all watch and enjoy. Hell even the Pokemon League didn't feel like an actual League. Just you going to meet five of the strongest trainers in the region and beating them all in a secluded building with nobody even knowing you are there kicking their Pokemons' tails and becoming the new champion... In private with no audience despite it being a BIG deal!
Heck yeah! I finally got a Switch this year and I have been playing Shield as well as Brilliant Diamond more than anything else in my collection. Besides them I only played Gold and LeafGreen as a kid which I loved but I honestly think that Gens 4 & 8 are my favorites of the games that I have actually played and would even go as far as to say Shield right now ranks as my favorite Pokemon game ever. Right now I'm looking for a 3DS so that I can play Gens 5-7 as well as HeartGold and SoulSilver to compare them to SWSH and BDSP.
I LOVE Nessa's idle animation. It's not awkward/over the top nor is it dull/bland. A subtle pose and stare while her hair floats around is such a casually powerful aura. ...shame she's a pushover to battle though
I get a different feeling from these gyms and the ones up until black and white. It never crossed my mind that the battles where a crowd event in the older games. These new battles feel a lot like sport tournaments. The music gives it a energy boost as well :3
That's because of the scarcity of dragon types. There are, at most, 2 or 3 dragon types introduced every gen (excluding the legendary pokemon of course). So they have to improvise by giving dragon masters pokemon who look like dragons, but are not dragon type. I'm still not sure why Raihan has a gigalith tho. Or why iris has a lapras. Those two look nothing like dragons.
@@adityam4263 That is definitely correct in Lance's case and _maybe_ Iris's too. But the thing about Iris is she was introduced at a point where there were enough dragon types to easily give her a full team of them. I think the reason her team isn't mono-dragon is the same reason Steven Stone is a Steel expert, but his team isn't mono-steel. They're both champions, and champion teams need to have more variety to take on many other types. However there's much more to Raihan's case. Raihan is a weather specialist as much as he is a dragon master, so he uses non-dragons that benefit from various weather conditions, which explains why he has a Gigalith with Sand Stream and Torkoal with Drought. Weather strategies also explain why he uses the doubles format, since that's the format they are used most commonly. Heck, the reason Raihan has harnessed weather strategies ties in to his lore as well, as explained on one of his league cards. Pardon me for nerding out like crazy lol.
i agree that this isn't the best pokemon game but its one of my favorites. One of my friends gave me this game 2 years ago and i loved it so much. Definitely a lot of good memories

At first I only liked the gym leader theme, but after getting the transition into battle I LOVED it
Well hey, we finally got a Dark type gym. Woooooooo!
So Milo is essentially Mirio from My Hero Academia and Steve Irwin if he was a botanist?
Yes looks like it😂good observation
What's even funnier is that the Japanese voice actor they chose for Milo is the same one who voiced Mirio!

The battle animations are pretty impressive.
Family Gaming Officiel Are you being sarcastic?
Christopher Wallace I mean it’s Pokemon but are you really pressed about it? Why are we suddenly so bothered about the limited animations we get. I feel like it’s literally never been an issue until now.

Say what you want the presentation in these battles is top notch!
In every other game, its just you, gym guy, the gym trainers, & the gym leader. But in Sword & Shield ITS AN ENTIRE FAJUKIN STADIUM
5:00 this is the driest water gym I have ever seen
Honestly i dont tet Why people think This is a bad game. I thought it looked beautiful and i love the character and the designs of the areas
I did too
It's the "hardcore" fans. Best to stay away from those fanatics.
@@Dinobolt1 yesss😁 i think you would love legends arceus and pokemon Lets go Eevee/pikachu too
Great spoil with the thumbnail... Genius
It's been 23 years and now finally we have a Dark type gym.
20 years actually. Dark type didn't exist in Gen 1
@@mavericklamm907 yeah your right.

Milo pats his dynamaxed ball and just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

Milo: there there.... *YEET!*
I find it very interesting that Raihan is classified as a Dragon-type user, yet only half of his Pokémon are Dragons...
Just like Lance and Iris.
It’s the dragon type tradition
I still have trauma left over from Milo.
Because...
That. Damn. Eldegloss!

Nice battles
i agree that this isn't the best pokemon game but its one of my favorites. One of my friends gave me this game 2 years ago and i loved it so much. Definitely a lot of good memories
Best part of this game was the crowds chant and the atmosphere of the Pokémon gym battles
