  • The video y'all have been asking and waiting for.. how I changed my hair texture! In this short video, I explain what I did throughout my hair journey, from the very beginning of trying to grow my hair, to even achieving curls now.. which I thought would've never been possible! Although I did not do anything purposely (scurl, perm etc) to change my hair texture from 4c to a looser texture, 4a/4b. All the things I mentioned in this video is what's resulted in this natural hair transformation! Moral of the story... TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR!

      Deep and leave in conditioners help moisturize hair and define your natural curl pattern.

  • @TopherTino
    @TopherTino Рік тому +27

    I think what’s happening here is the accumulation of the right oils into your hair strands has softened your curl pattern so now your type 4 hair looks more like type 3. If you think about it, we know that type 4 hair is structurally more dense than type 3 hair which makes type 3 “softer”. But if you increase the oil content in your hair then it’s naturally going to act and behave differently. I say this because I’ve recently began using an overnight deep conditioner before shampooing, doing this has allowed my hair to retain more oils and more hydration after cleansing. I’ve also started to co-wash and hard refresh my hair on day 4 or 5 before restyling. I still do a normal refresh with the LCO method or just some water on days 3 and 6 depending on what my hair looks like and products used during styling. Thanks for the amazing videos, they’ve been really helpful in caring for my type 3 hair.

    My hair is more or less the same. I wouldn't say that the texture necessarily changes, it's just that the more you take care of it, the more defined your curl pattern becomes. I keep mine way shorter though, so due to the definition, it almost looks like "peppercorn" hair when I'm fresh out the shower (I shower my hair every day).

    • @dorianmwungeri2400
      @dorianmwungeri2400 Рік тому +3

    • @Nghilifa
      @Nghilifa Рік тому

      @@dorianmwungeri2400 For me, my hair is pretty low porosity, meaning that most of the products that I apply tend to sit on the outside of the hair, rather than penetrating it. It also means (especially when my hair was longer) that it takes a while to dry, when soaking wet. I find that just showering everyday, either co-washing (using only conditioner for my hair) or using shampoo + conditioner works the best. I don't really use any haircare products other than that, no leave-in conditioners or whatever, not even oils (such as shea butter, coconut oil etc). Now, we all have different hair, even if you have 4c hair like me, it might behave differently to mine. My hair density is low, it looks thick & full when I've got a couple of cm's of hairlength, but when it's short like now, you can somewhat spot the spaces in between each "clump" of hair, especially when it's fully moisturized. I'm from Namibia (we've got bushmen here with that type of hairgrowth pattern), so that might have something to do with it. That said, the hair within my family is all different, some have got jet black hair (mine is dark brown, but appears black if there's low ambient lighting), some got brown hair, some have parts of the head with looser hair texture (like me, parts of it is 4b and in some spots, 4a), some have extremely tight coils all over, some have got 4b hair all over etc.
      So it's difficult to give you a proper "guide" on how to do it, because we are two different people with different haircare needs (I assume). What I do, is that I just ensure to keep it moisturized, so I shower every day, because my hair can't get enough water. That's how I get my definition.

    I would like to know if he also takes finastride. Taking that to prevent hairloss has an effect on lowering dht levels meaning the way a new hair follicle forms is expressed differently. Think how your hair looked in childhood, that’s how it generally tends to grow while on finasteride/Dutasteride.

      Some people just have ultra dry hair. My hair is high porosity and ultra-dry. My black trichologist says there is no harm in me moisturising my hair every day as long as I shampoo out the build-up every week. If you use a small amount of very light products you won't have a lot of build up.
