I used to hate commercials, now I just sat here and watched 30+ minutes of them with the biggest smile on my face from when I was 17 years old! Mitch Banner Linville NC
On that month in 1982, Don Bluth's very first animated feature which is based on the award-winning children's novel debuts on the big screen (which is The Secret of NIMH)
These commercials aired when I was almost 4 "1/4" years old. Burger King is my favorite burger restaurant, but I like McDonald's. I like Kentucky Fried Chicken. I saw these fast food commercials.
22:29 - Hey! She was in another one! (This is the "the car keys are in your coat pocket" girl, who was in 3 or 4 other spots for BK that year and the next, including a salad bar spot where she looked substantially different)
Still has the "feel" of the late 1970s. In fact, there are still a few of the ad spots that would seem not out of if they had run, say, between 1967 through 1970.
That said, a lot of the "80s culture" did begin to really take off around the summer of 1982. MTV was starting to be known, the aerobics craze was taking off, synth hits such as The Human League's "Don't You Want Me", new wave like The Go-Go's "Vacation", Disney's "Tron" had just been released, and of course video arcades and gaming was more than just Pong, Breakout or Space Invaders. Early 1982 still has that "watered down late '70s" feel, and by the end of '82, with shows like Knight Rider, new bands crossing over from the UK like Culture Club and Duran Duran, and brighter, striped fashions becoming popular, it definitely felt like a new era. It just wasn't quite "core '80s" yet like 1983-87 were.
in the first 15 seconds they mention *_Henry Kissinger, Robin Williams, Burt Reynolds, Andy Gibb, Carmine (Eddie Mekka) & Squiggy (David L. Lander) Laverne & Shirley (Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams)_* - I couldn't help but notice *ALL* of them, except Henry Kissinger, have since passed away.
5:50 that actor not getting the Miracle Whip was subsequently convicted of raping a young teenage girl with a fireplace poker covered with KY Jelly. He died in prison several months later.
Seeing the twin towers in these commercials makes me feel proud and sad at the same time. It is still heartbreaking looking at them standing so tall. It was such a simple time in this world. Those days are long gone. God bless you for taking me back to a sweet, carefree time in my life.
It’s unreal that this was 40 years ago. I wish we could go back in time.
Yeah I know it's unbelievable how much time has passed by, I really believe that we were blessed to have experienced those times 🤔
Me too am 45 yrs
Me too!
It truly was a magical tine
Nothing beats the 80s commercial jingles. Thank you for posting this.

13:31 Long John Silver's takeout plates 1982 commercial. I like watching the early 80's Long John Silver's commercials.

And at the same time I think Kissinger is the oldest of all of them!
@@robertf614 you are so right considering he will be turning 100 this September!
Also sad is that everyone in the first Come On Along Promo has also passed away.

My mother had an entire bag of Kodak discs she never developed. All my lil kid photos, gone.

@user-tp6fo7im3d I was there too. It was a simple time and a better time.
Looked like "Code Red" in the beginning.
Good afternoon 🎉🎉🎉 4:09
1:34 silent CC bumper
30:52 🐐Sally Wiggin!!🐐
I’d like a super moist cake with creamy frosting (wink wink)
bake someone happy
20:30 Bill Cosby wearing a 1940's era porter uniform serving white children like a Stepin Fetchit. Embarrassing.
Shrooms are gooooood.
25:17 = Stan Savran (Love the Show!!)!
I want a S-10
8:31: Chevrolet Citation.
I have to turn back the time and change history in the past and revise the timeline.
A truck for 5795??? Take me home
You mean 1981-1982 promo ID the next season wouldn't begin til September. This was only July. Vey misleading.
Stop complaining about such trivial things!
@@wayfarer4578 I'm not. Just pointing out. Good day!
Some networks do launch next seasons GFX two months earlier. ABC was one of those networks.
Very misleading
