Years ago, when PLC's used in industrial equipment were becoming popular, Allen Bradly was offering training programs in PLC Programing and Troubleshooting and Repair. The company I worked for offered these programs to us mechanics. Most of the other mechanics would turn them down because of travel and days away from home. I would always take as many as offered and even the ones declined by others. I learned a lot! I ended up as one of the "go to" mechanics in our department. All young guy's planning on working on cars, machinery, or whatever as a career should take as many training classes as possible. It's something that will increase your abilities in whatever you work on.
It's just like the nursery rhyme... All the car's crusties, and all the techs' Zen couldn't get the Infinity together again. Happy Thanksgiving folks.😊
Wow, Keith DeFazio is so smart, he could tell this was a lost cause with just a quick look. He made it clear that he didn't want to get involved from the start. Hahaha.
Sometimes it's just too late to save it. For what the owner was paying for diag time and all the modules plus programming, he/she could go to the desert SW and buy a complete G35 with no water issues and spend the extra $ on restoring the interior. Great effort guys!
Ivan beat me to it. I was going to say this car is basically a flood car that hasn't been in a flood. What did Kenny Rogers say? You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away and know when to run.
Great video a lot of talent there. Only missing my other two favorites…. Eric O with South main Auto and Sadel with D Tech thanks for sharing that was fun to watch
OH! I wondered who Keith P. was in your title. I didn't realize it was that guy from L1 Automotive. I watch his videos as well.......of course, after I watch yours Ivan! GREAT VIDEO!
Great to see Keith D. Ivan you picked a tough one. Looks like a flood car from Florida. Keith from l1 you are awesome. Thanks for making this video Ivan.
@@SuperDd40 Ain't THAT the truth!!! Every one of them is a potential(lol) unstoppable, toxic fume fireball! The fire brigades are gonna have to have to develop a furnace-brick-lined, vehicle-sized 'dumpster bin' to fit on a Kenworth truck! This 'EV Fire Recovery Vehicle' is gunna have to have outriggers & a 10 ton palfinger crane to hoist burning vehicles up into the bin & haul them away. It would need a heavy winch to just dead drag burning vehicles up into the bin also. EV fires very often can't be left to burn themselves out even on the side of the road, because of the highly toxic fumes that the smoke contains. They must be removed. Heat damage to the actual road surface is a real problem. An EV fire on a bridge may damage the bridge structure! It's truly frightening the potential destruction a 2000°C EV fire can cause! Let's not forget that the burning lithium batteries themselves CREATE THEIR OWN OXYGEN as they burn, so basically the fire is UNSTOPPABLE with conventional fire fighting techniques. It supplies its own oxygen to feed its own fire. Like a nuclear reaction -> unstoppable! If you try to hose the fire it throws molten material & steam at you! Charging times are absurd on these stupid ev's. They haven't thought this through at all! Overnight charging station motels are gonna be required for people to get full charges into their cars without drastically shortening the lifespan of the battery! Quick, high rate charges nearly all the time, instead of weekly 20 hour, or even 40 hour charges, is gunna shorten the battery lifespan by years! And a new Tesla battery is $10,000! NOPE. Don't buyem! EV's are a joke! 😆🤣! Or is that part of what they mean by the proposed '15 minute cities'?" Cos they're only 15 minutes apart, for these stupid battery cars with only a 30 minute battery capacity left in their damaged $10,000 'fuel tank'. Their 100 to 400 kilogram fuel tank, that always weighs 100 to 400 kilograms!
One of my electrical trades tech teachers name is Bill Perkins who for some reason moved into my area over here in Australia back in 2007, For some reason he moved away last year when I was diagnosing some automotive stuff in an Australian built 1997, model Ford EL Falcon for my great uncles stepdaughter. It ended up being what I talked about,an aftermarket engine immobilizer/car alarm which caused a stalling issue,it had high resistance in it so I just rewired the main ignition supply back to how Ford wired it up at their old factory at Broadmeadows in Victoria. Now,I am a Holden who fixed a Ford up & Bill Perkins moved away from my area afterwards,my great uncles stepdaughter Rachel is another Perkins apparently. She wanted to buy my mothers 2000 model Toyota Corolla which she inherited off her mother when she died, that car had a matter of the Green crusties in 2014 when she drove it into flood water but that car only had the ECU & the airbag module for me to worry about & which needed replacing. It strange how that Bill was a good teacher & another Holden who didn't get me in my own area,so he moved from a rural residential area back to a suburban area where he came from !
You guys do have a lot of fun you are a great group and some great diagnostic techs floods do supersede good technicians stay away from the floods lightning strikes are some interesting ones also
Keith D stuck a fork in it and sent it back to the Chefs 😅 absolute Boss hahaha Very impressive attempt! Keith P was very impressive each direction was well thought out and explained. She was just to far gone . No doubt you two could have got it going but the risk out ways the reward on this one. Thanks for sharing
Yo Keith! Standing behind Ivan doing that cracked me up! Ivan was none the wiser(until he edited/re watched it anyway!) Quality Nissan Snot right there! 🤣
Great vid as always. The big question is did you stop @ NetCost on your way home.. NE Philly is my old stomping grounds, hope you found a good restaurant in the area.
I've found similar issues with cars with Sun roofs, tho not as complex, I use a length of weed trimmer line about 6 ft to clean the drain holes at the top inside the sun roof. Good to see top diag techs together.
Don't know who the woman is the background, but it's very distracting, every time, a discovery is uncovered, she starts chirping, louder and louder.! At least they could take their conversation, a little further from the video making process.
😂 I can only imagine the deep conversation you 3 will have about tales of once upon a time car diagnostics!!! I bet this car fixes itself just to see these 3 geeks!!
This was a great electronics repair attempt with the best out there, to no avail! this reinforces my theory that cars today are way more complicated than they should be. Too much crap installed.
This is my 3rd PAD Nissan video in a row and I can't fininsh. My brain is too fried. Gonna have to go back to watching some quantum mechnics videos on electron spin for a rest.
It's crazy how a few crusties and electronic gremlins can effectively write off a car that is otherwise mechanically sound. Could someone not invent an override system consisting of a few toggle switches, modules, and wiring that would allow basic control that would at least allow the car to drive?
What a trio - Ivan and the Keiths (could be a 60s band). Not even all that knowledge and brainpower could salvage a drowned car. Too bad, but great episode :-)
Ivan good video .ivan i knew if it could got running it would have you and the both keith have so much knowledge on getting the job done. Good video. The owner should take your advice dump it .thanks to you and friends.
when you have three excellent techs have to get their heads together just to pronounce a car is DOA, that tells you the sorry state of the crap the manufacturers are building today.
Even with 3 (-1)😁 of the best on the job, some cars are just too far gone and you gotta know when to cut your losses and RUN AWAY!!....(Like Keith D. did....backs away stealthily)🤣👍
It's basically a serial protocol sent over a differential twisted pair. There are a couple of ISO standards that you can lookup for the exact technical details (11898-1 and 11898-3) and a pretty good Wikipedia page.
If you put a house size dehumidfier in that car and leave it closed up it will suck that car to dryer than the desert. I would run it for a couple days.
Problem is you still have destroyed modules, green crusties, and substantial evidence of someone butchering the start button, steering lock, and God knows what else. Still not worth it.

Ivan and all the Keiths! The perfect Trifecta. Awesome! 👍😎👍
Man if these three can't fix a car, it's broke! Three of the best here! 👍
The gurus diagnosed it! It’s fucked😂
@@johnlarkin549This is a "Renault" owned Nissan product. 😂
@@arcademania7544 well it never stood a chance it was fucked before it started🤣
Remember when Nissan meant quality and reliability? Oh the 80s and 90s….
What a bonus video to make Sunday even better! Thanks Ivan and Keith’s! 🇺🇸
Typical problem on these early G's. Sunroof drains at the firewall get blocked and BCM etc, takes the hit. Thanks Ivan!
Over here in Australia we call them an "Above Ground Pool" 🤣
Three of the best diagnosticians ! WOW how can you not learn something valuable from them.
Oh man, three of the GOATS all in one pen! Awesome stuff. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge fellas.
Cripes! We've hit the diagnostician TRIFECTA!
Good Lord! Who were those woman yakking away in the background? Drove me nuts. There are men at work here! Go make some sammitches!
Haha that’s a good observation and solution!
Nice video. I always wanted two Keys with a car, but to have the best car you need two Keith’s. 😂😂
Wow, Keith DeFazio is so smart, he could tell this was a lost cause with just a quick look. He made it clear that he didn't want to get involved from the start. Hahaha.
He used his 6-th senses 😁
Indeed 😎
The ONLY thing they didn't try is VOODOO !😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Water gremlins are like an incurable disease. You can treat it but it keeps coming back. At least the owner knows how bad it is.
Sometimes it's just too late to save it. For what the owner was paying for diag time and all the modules plus programming, he/she could go to the desert SW and buy a complete G35 with no water issues and spend the extra $ on restoring the interior. Great effort guys!
Thanks for the video. Good to see the Keiths.
Just FYI, Infiniti is spelled with an "I" at the end, not Y. Worked at the dealer for many years, even some parts had it spelled incorrectly!
I suspect autocorrect has a hand in these cases.
Love it❤
It was great to see Keith DeFazio.made my day.
You covered the only two purposes for flood victims. Diag. training and recycling! Great job! 👍👍🇺🇸
Defazio called it from the beginning. Legend
High Powered Diagnosticians!
Saturday with the bois.. :)
All the big guns out. Great stuff!!!

Excellent!

Your right about the live training events. They have greatly helped me and ive meet some great people.

A big advantage of EV's is that they'll probably burn down before you get any module problems.

On Nissan products for sure.
Burned on an Ex35 the same way.

Ivan, great video on diagnosing a beached whale, great to see two minds working together to solve problems.

EV's and water. Bad combination.
Time for that car to be a parts car.
One of the few videos that qualify for the flush the vehicle award.
what would you use if you couldnt get deoxit mate, i cant find any in Australia
Where can you find out more on the training, I have been to a MACS one, would like to get more on different modules
Great to see your guys together Ivan
I want to attend the class please send me the link or information.

Does the PCM store key information data as well?

Sometimes the correct diagnosis is "the condition is terminal". You would have to practically build a new car, in this case.
Man, that's just too cool! I'd love to come dig into cars with y'all sometime!
That poor Infiniti, though... What on earth happened to it?
Sunroof drain blocked or the tube disconnected in the roof. Both are common on those cars.
Hey Ivan do you still fly paramotor? Your videos were awesome when you did that!
How do they program a car and all of its parts on the assembly line?

Ya'll ever use wd40 for water displacement?
Yes.. Dioxit is just wd40 with baking soda...
jk
@calholli I keep wd40 in my jeep for water crossing. Plus I like the smell enough to wear as cologne 🤣
Yes i'd like to open up with a pair of KEITHS please😂
We're is busy Keith D i searching his channel no more video's why boss new level auto no more like to share with us his experience
Been busy working to get additional training out in the industry!

Conference center?
No car stands a chance agianst double Kieth!

I bet a '55 Chevy could have had that amount of water intrusion without killing the car! This is a perfect example of tech running absolutely amok.
Yeah, looks like that aquarium is toasted! If it's sitting so long and still leaking water..
But great video anyway! 👍
Fun video Ive even though youse didn't fix the car! Good to see the co-operation between you 3 smart fellas!👍

Sounds like this wok was being performed outside a McD's playground!
I know someone with the same car and same problem every time it rains it shut down , must be defective from factory.
Or the sunroof drains are clogged - had that on a Jag and a Volvo.
that car looks like a nightmare to me lol
Hey Ivan, are Two Keith's Better than One?🤤
So what is this thing, a flood car they pulled in for you to practice on?
