I worked with a mate who had a regular customer who would always haggle for a discount. My mate would just add a few hundred on the original quote and let the customer haggle him down to the normal price. It was hilarious to watch.

But back in the late 90's it was awesome always trying to stay one step ahead of DirecTV and Dish. When I was a kid in the 80's, we had one of those big full size satellite dishes with the big hydraulic motor to move it to a different satellite, we used to get a lot of free TV back then also. I'll never forget moving that big dish to a different position to pick up a different satellite depending on what channel you were trying to find. Man we have come a long way.

I hate it when things like this happen. I had a pt cruiser show up with a fan in-op. new fans, new tipm. Found the green crusties on the main power feed to the fans below the battery, wire rotted in half. Fixed that and it all works. owner cries about my diag fee (1.5) hours because the last shop charged them 1800 dollars for the parts and install.
did it need those parts? who knows. but none of them fixed the problem of the car overheating due to no fans. I stood firm on my diag. told them to get their old parts back from the other shop as they are probably good.

    • @major__kong

Or the plugs are missing and they didn't tell Ivan. There's another possibility in a different universe. I was having a beer with my aircraft mechanic, and he was telling me all the horror stories of the guy who used to run that shop. Some aircraft come with 24V systems. Well, this guy installed a 12V starter. Apparently that's enough to cause exciting things to happen when you crank the engine.

I might have one for ya, Ivan. I've got a '96 K1500 with a random misfire. I've taken it to three shops and each one has tried there own fix. Slight parts cannon, but mainly stuff that needed to be replaced due to age anyhow, plugs, cap & rotor etc, so I'm not too deep in it. The third shop, though has had it for the past 5 weeks and no closer to resolution. I'm about one more phone call away from driving it the 4 hours out to you.
