The Cultural Outreach Committee presented a series of performances, panel discussions, and Youth Flute Day! This year, the COC premiered Inip̄i Wayajop̄i | A Lakota Sweat-Lodge Flute Experience for Flute Choir (originally titled Inip̄i Alowaƞ “Sweat Lodge Song") for flute choir by William Linthicum-Blackhorse.
This was the premiere performance for the work. Commissioned by Mariana Gariazzo, this music transforms an often misunderstood ceremony into a physiological and immersive experience that showcases the true beauty behind the sounds and music that is heard whilst inside.
