Enchantment decks haven't needed the help since they started touching more cards and taking longer turns than your average Simic player
Now now, Simic Enchantress :)
That happened in legends, and its only gotten worse since.
So as someone who has run an enchantment deck- its super vulnerable. Like, its insane.
But she is a planeswalker and I have a strong abiding policy.
No, your deck does not need a planeswalker. Noone needs a planeswalker. Theres a reason theyre dropping down to one per set now and its because every one of these cards is rancid. Oh boo hoo you like their mechanics? Well I like playing fun games so run something the fuck else instead.

If you thought planeswalker shenanigans were filthy and that a 20 minute turn is short, roast Carth the Lion next.
Not sure how you get a 20 minute turn with Carth. The only time I got close was when I resolved a huge Kamahl's Druidic Vow with the chain veil in play.
The gameplay breaks down to: play a planeswalker, 3 people try to figure out how to destroy it, lose a planeswalker, draw a planeswalker. Rinse and Repeat
@@W0lfguard1997 Lemme tell you, as a certified Guff connoisseur I have taken FELONIOUS turns! Ichor-moon gauntlet, proliferate triggers, 3-mana Chandra, you name it, I’ve done it. Gunk up the board in tokens or just literally shut down all combat. The saving grace is that 5-mana superfirends Chandra both ramps and burns the opponents directly as a result of that mana helping me slam down more walkers for her End of Turn trigger, it’s how I win, like 50% of my Guff games lol. The other half are by spamming his -3.
@@jemm113 Guff is a different story playing literally all the other colors. I know from experience how batshit ichor-moon gauntlet gets. As soon as you play blue your turns are spent on spinning up die. Got it in a Tekuthal deck (charge counter theme because I thought that would be more fair) with a few planeswalkers and those turns would never end..

"Untap all" you have already sold me on this card and its degeneracy. Everything else is icing.
Three words: The Chain Veil
With a little bit of setup, you can go infinite using The Chain Veil to get as many activations for Planeswalkers as you want. It's not as easy as with Teferi, Temporal Archmage, who benefits from using a -1 to do the loop (so he easily removes himself), but it is a little more novel than just monoblue monsters using hard stax.
That's honestly why I stopped running the Chain Veil with her. Every game turned into simply trying to get the Chain Veil and winning via infinite-enchantment-cast combos, when what I really wanted to do with her was "pillow fort until I amassed an army of huge evasive tokens".

I’ve played her. The issue with her minus 1 is that you can slap it onto The Chain Veil. That’s its own issue.

I have a variation on this deck where I have done a 12 minute turn, drawn 52 cards and killed two opponents then got board wiped and wanted to cry only to draw open the vaults for that sweet sweet vengeance
The biggest problem I have with enchantments is killing someone so hard they become your archnemesis and the next time you see them on commander night at the LGS they've put a ton of enchantment hate in their decks.
I only play my enchantress Modern deck at any given store once per fiscal quarter. My deck is weak to people knowing my face.
Just to be safe every green white deck I have runs aura shards 30 creatures and at least 2 creatures that are some effect of artifacts or enchantment removal.
All that ignoring the generic cards like beast withing generous gift and company.
Fun fact estrid hasn't come back because the franchise team thought her powers didn't lend itself to cool card poses.

This doesn't sound like a fun fact. Still, it means she was spared getting Dack'd in War of the Spark--never forget!--I guess, so technically that's a win for her.
More because it's a pain in the butt to draw all those floating masks IIRC.

Pretty much everything you just said…. Is exactly why I love my estrid deck! I use enchants like whip silk to spam Etb triggers, grabbing cards off the top of my deck and slapping them down on the table.
Enchantments definitely doesn’t need the help. She was my first commander and I couldn’t count the number of times I forgot to cast her. Then again, who needs a commander when you have an unblockable 30/30 with an extra combat if it attacks alone.

You've done all my friends' favorite busted commanders, but I'm holding out hope to see my girl Magda, Brazen Outlaw sometime soon. Even without the clock combo she can be pretty nuts, especially now with Roaming Throne.
Seconding. Magda is dirtier than the good Krenko, speaking as someone who owns multiple near-three-digit cards I swap between the two every game.

My favorite part about Estrid is that she combos with jank cards like Banishing Knack and Retraction Helix. Such strange cards.... Would love to hear your opinion of the best commander though, Norin the Wary.

I built this as my first Oathbreaker commander with the themes being untap effects and X cost effects to sink the extra mana into. It was glorious. Like imagine ramping 9 mana because you cast an Unwind.

My brother-in-law has this deck. It's still unchanged from the pre-con, but it's not bad at all. He hasn't quite gotten a hang of it yet, so it's even more not bad at all. All in all a quality card that takes too long to do things.

Forgive me padre, for I have sinned. I ran Bant Enchantments for a while. I used the Chain Veil and Estrid to generate infinite mana and infinite card mill. Generally when I reached five enchanted mana and a chain veil, I encouraged players to end the game for their own sanity. Most did, but if they didn't, I played Solitaire for 20+ minutes. I know I was wrong, and I am truly sorry.
One of my friends had this planeswalker as a commander, even on low budget it was machine with no end in sight. He recently converted it into a oathbreaker deck and that only made it worse
2 words: primal surge.
Do not give us the -1, that's going on a Chain Veil to give ANOTHER method of infinite mana. Or just infinite loyalty triggers on the other 'walkers, like the Oko to Elk-ify everyone's board, or infinite Teferis.

Behold! Felidar Guardian + Deadeye Navigator + Estrid! Now you have all the mana you could ever need, and with enchantment decks' unrivaled ability to touch cards, you too can vomit your entire deck onto the table in one turn for the low, low price of two creatures and your commander!
Assuming you already have a sufficient number of landchantments: Chain Veil does it for one card, and Retraction Helix/Banishing Knack do it for one card and ANY creature. It's not difficult to go infinite with Estrid.

Unless I'm mistaken and her minus 2 ability wouldn't work this way wouldn't you be able to just put the masks on lands since it doesn't say non-land
You can, though like he said, that deck's gonna be filled with Wild Growth and friends anyway so you're gonna get to those 4 mana pretty quickly even without that. It's a good backup though, yeah@@zombieslayer2016
@@zombieslayer2016 You could. Or you could put the mask on the Chain Veil, then tap it, giving her another use of a loyalty ability. Like her +2. This makes the Chain Veil and all your enchanted lands untap. Tap the Chain Veil again, +2 her again, Chain Veil again, +2 again... infinite mana, infinite loyalty, win the game (eventually).
I stopped running the Chain Veil with her precisely because I've lost interest in infinite combos.
@@zombieslayer2016 Because it just says "target permanent", you can target ANY permanent. Non land permanent is commomly used because they don't want you targeting a land.
As an estrid player this is 100% true. I have to let my buddies know when I play estrid so they can make sure to have a stronger deck on hand lol

Dont forget Chain Veil with that +2 so you just get infinite activates if enough lands are enchanted to net mana

As a proud and often Estrid main myself...yeah this is accurate, and that's not even getting into the fact she herself combos off with everything and the kitchen sink as long as it says "enchantment" somewhere.
Oh, and her own precon deck comes with a 2-card combo to entirely eliminate commander tax. Do with that what you will :)

@d3adlyrainbowZzz Myth Unbound + Estrid's Invocation as a copy. The effects will stack, causing your commander to cost 2 less for each time it's played from the command zone, which is the direct opposite of commander tax costing 2 *more* for each time it's played.
So anybody else here ever played "all that glitters" and "ethereal armor" with my personal favorite delicious enchantment, "Enchanted Evening"? turns every pro- and anti-enchantment card into a nuclear warhead that can destroy anything

How I only wish she was Esper or Abzan instead of Bant. That way, I coukd run Eriette in the deck and it becomes heads I win, tails you lose.
It's funny cause this is the strongest enchantment commander by the fact you can run stasis and winter orb effects by the dozen in this deck and it's a good litmus test to see if they are a good person or not.
May actually play commander with this card. Just need to finish my Historic enchantment deck first.

Also have to keep in mind the type (my deck) that has a disturbing amount of jailing cards. Not Rule of Law type stax, I’m talking “These cards do not exist anymore”. Pacifism, Imprison in the Moon, In Too Deep, Control Magic, Encrust.
