    Very cool that you pointed out the hidden sleeve. Makes a great work bag for me and my needs. I can put a breaker bar or a pry bar in there nicely. Bag holds a good amount of weight, I have at least 20 pounds in it now. HEAVY METAL!

    Thanks to your review I have decided to get on of these. It was the part about the hidden section at the back where you "could put sharps". i carry a collapsible walking stick because of bad knees and this feature would allow instant access when i need it. no other bag i have seen has this. so thank you for pointing it out to me,

    Awesome review, very thorough, thanks. I've just ordered a Jumbo for travelling, festivals, walks, etc., but this looks really useful for my work. Maxpedition make some real objects of desire.

    Brilliant - thanks for your response Roz.
    I have in fact picked up a Mongo (sounds kinda wrong!?!). I will use it for my next travel on Monday as my carry-on and day-to-day carry option. Fits my laptop, first aid kit, basic EDC and a waterproof too. Very happy so far...
    Thanks for taking the time to make the videos, they really help. Your personal response is icing on the cake! Thanks again...

    Great review! Show every nook and cranny...You can't show too much in a review! especially "real-world" stuff...I have a 17" laptop and have been putting off the purchase of a Mongo because I wasn't sure if I could squeeze it in on a "once in a while" basis...i'll definitely get one now...Thanks again!

    Hey Roz,
    I've been watching your videos on the Maxpedition gear for a while now, and I want to thank you for the thorough and informative nature of your presentations. You cover a lot of ground, in a short time too. Also, your voice and personality are very engaging, which just makes your presentations so effective.
    I have purchased the Falcon II, Vulture II, and several smaller accessories, but ONLY after watching your videos. My next purchase will be a Mongo plus some accs. MAHALO!!

    Excellent point, Fox. Yes, a laptop can fit but considering whether that's the best bag for your laptop is another consideration. Thx!

    That's funny. I had a quirky (ie. weird) boss that would come in your office, plunk down in your side chair and say "Hey Mongo!". Everybody was "Mongo". lol

    I've watched several of your Maxpedition bag reviews today and I have to say you do an excellent job on your reviews. You sold me on the Sitka (ordered) and the Mongo (will order). Thanks very much and keep up the good work. Subscribed.

    @VideoScenario I agree! I use a Gerber Artifact with a nice razor edge that I take to many of my MP bags & packs and remove bits and parts of velcro for that reason. Nothing like having the entire line at Starbucks turn around as I unvelcro my Volta case to get my cash out. lol (true!) You can cut it out, or place a mating piece of velcro on top to "neutralize" the velcro. That way you utilize the velcro if you ever need the security of it. I showed that in my MCAP vid. Thx for the comment VS.

    Hi Danielle. Yes, it is Foliage Green. Definitely not in the brown family and wouldn't be mistaken for any brown at all. It does have a hint of gray in it so it takes it far away from any of the bright greens. Look at a $5 bill. On the back, the designed edging is close to what foliage green is. Hope this helps! ~Roz

    I dig that spoon demo! I just learned something new. My Mongo is on the way! I can't wait! Sooo Glad the computer fits. I think mine is the same.
    Ahh, mine is a khaki/foliage. So you will be able to see the khaki here soon

    Hey Roz
    Nice video review as usual. I bought one of the Mongos in black and received it about a week ago. I really like it for all of my EDC gear. I do wish it had some type of carry handle. I'll have to brainstorm on something that could work for a handle. Nice job!

    @freenarative I'm glad you found a good application of that feature! I wonder if these companies think of all of those little details... Maybe so. Glad your walking stick will fit in there. I use hiking poles too and often find myself wishing I had somewhere convenient to store them instead of carrying them on straightaways. Good luck w/ those knees! ;-)

    Excellent bag! Might get one for travelling.
    Just one comment: I do not recommend putting a laptop in this bag (or any similar bag).
    I happen to be an IT guy and I would have to caution anyone using bags like these that do not have any padding (that is at least 1" thick) at the bottom.
    Setting down you bag or bumping the bottom can and will damage your laptop and might crash your hard disk (even if it has a free-fall sensor). Side-impact will probably be cushioned by your other stuff.

  • @RoscoeBa
    @RoscoeBa  11 років тому

    Hi Peroni. I hope my answer is not wishy-washy but I'd say that the Sitka is crazy comfortable to wear. However, I think the Mongo is a form factor of storage and access that I rather prefer. I used the Sitka as my primary hiking pack forever and never felt it on my back. Don't really prefer the way it stores stuff if I had to use it for EDC. For hiking the storage was fine. I'd say Mongo, in this case. Good luck!

  • @RoscoeBa

    Thanks for the compliment! I dont have this pack anymore so actually can't answer your Qs. I would wager a "yes" on the notebook fitting but that's just my guess. I don't have a DSL either. I hope somebody can pipe in to help you out!

    How many mangoes can fit in a Mongo?
    How does a man go when using a Mongo?
    I have a mongoose. Would it fit in the Mongo?
    Can you carry a Van Gogh in the Mongo?

    i've been thinking about it and i thought about putting a little survival tin in there, but i'd rather put that in the bag. then it hit me... what would a dad need quick access to that would fit in the cell phone carrier without getting ruined? the best thing i could come up with is a bottle of hand sanitizer. we use it often with our kids because we love to be active and get dirty. that's the best i've got... any other ideas?

  • @RoscoeBa
    @RoscoeBa  14 років тому

    @silverbear5 Thx SB. I struggle with whether to show actual stuff or just show the bag. I do think showing relative items to sizing is very helpful. I'll be sure to keep that in mind for future vids. What color did you end up getting...?

    -10" netbook
    -Nikon DSLR
    is bad too big for these too items or is it right fit?
    can bag be squeezed to secure these items more?
    thanks for video, makes shopping for bag a littel easier

  • @cap10random

    great review, but...
    this bag would've been perfect for me if not for the built-in phone carrier. why in the world would you ever take a modular part of the bag and limit it's use? it seriously would be the perfect diaper bag for a dad, but i have no desire to use a cell phone carrier and the ability to put whatever i want there (like the other bags) would've been great. i don't get it. they made some awesome improvements and then killed it with one little deal-breaker. any idea for other uses?

    Nice video... Can you tell... would your netbook/ibm smaller computer fit in the concealed carry pocket that is closest to the body (behind the main compartment).
    also... have you ever tried to fit a bigger dslr or point and shoot camera into the main compartment? it's just tough to eyeball the space available there for that use.

    Can it be use as a purse, my girlfriend needs a bag that is easy to get, keys and her cellphone etc.
    Will this be a good one for her?

  • @RoscoeBa
    @RoscoeBa  11 років тому

    I'd say the Mongo is too large for an everyday purse-type carry. Using it as a diaper bag or campus bag might be better for this. I'd suggest something smaller for her like the Thermite, Neatfreak, Remora or Fatboy. :)
